35559 Finished Smokin' Seventeen, I'd forgotten how quick those books are to read. Unfortunately she talks about food all the time and it makes me hungry, but only for things like coffee cake and doughnuts. lol

ETA - Good reading, Emma! Keep it up.

The winners are just the first two-and-a-half pages. No Kate Daniels there, unfortunately.

It's not shown on the winner list, is it? I'm scanning...

According to this page it didn't win in either catagory. https://www.goodreads.com/choiceaward...

35559 The Underdog and Other Stories was narrated by David Suchet and Hugh Fraser. Both actors well known in England and abroad for Poirot and Shakespeare. If you don't find somebody else first.

Any ideas?
In any case, I'll start hunting again. I should really just leave all the book tabs open haha."

Elizabeth Peters died Aug 8, 2013. That just squeaks over the 2 year line doesn't it?

She wrote A Lion in the Desert, if that's still free. And The Mummy Case, which I've almost finished.

35559 Finally that backlog of books has paid off. :)
Wonder how many goals we can knock off in an hour or so?

ETA - I don't have a 2000-2005 book read. I hope somebody does.

35559 Teri, I usually love Agatha Christie books (and I've read most of them) but that's probably one of my least favorite."

Interesting that you didn't like it either. I've been reading Christie off and on for ages, and I generally like her books. Some of them I love. That one I didn't, though plenty of people did. The good thing about GR is if I'm ever tempted to pick it up again I'll remember not to bother. :)

Enjoy your chair, your book and your weekend, Elderwen.

35559 I finished listening to Ordeal by Innocence by Agatha Christie. Fortunately the narrator was good, as this was the biggest group of whiners I've ever had the misfortune to read about. :( Full of grown ups going on about how much they hated their murdered mother.

Anyway, it's finished and I can move on to something fun.

35559 The only books I have that would work are on hold right now. I'll keep looking, though. Most of my books don't show days, so it's tough. :)

35559 Well, I've finished The Grand Sophy, which has a monkey named Jacko. Sophy brings him as a pet for the children when she comes to visit, and he pops in and out of the book causing trouble. Do we need a location for his first appearance or anything?

I'm always happy to reread that book - it makes me smile; Sophy's a great character and the book's a fun romp. Since I didn't work this afternoon I was happy to take one for the team. :)

35559 I can read The Grand Sophy and have it finished this evening. It's a favorite of mine and there's a pet monkey in it. It's also the BOM for the Heyer GR forum, and I can make a comment or two there while I'm reading it. So I don't mind...

In the meantime, if someone else has one already put it in. But I'll start Sophy and check in later to see where we're at.
