But I know a couple of good, easy reads that have monkeys if no one has one in line.

Teri, it means each team has one. It's one team per gladiator."
Then, can we count my finished book, save our boon and get a new goal that way?

ETA- I needed to listen to a book read by it's author for another challenge. I found I had Notes from a Small Island which is read by Bill Bryson. It's also 5 hr and 39 minutes long. I just finished it.

Unless somebody is already reading one. I don't have access to any, first or last name.

also today is a big day for me...it's exam results day. and I'm proud to say I got into my university!"
Congratulations! You should feel proud of yourself. Now celebrate. :)

Since we seemed to be jammed up with our goals I'm thinking I should hold off on finishing any more books this week and maybe save them for next week, when the other team will have goals we can work toward. Anyone have any advice?
I ask because every book read for a goal counts a point, otherwise they're just half a point. And we seem to be falling pretty far behind anyway. Is anyone else wondering about strategy for this game?
I'm not adverse to starting a lot of books and finishing them later, it's my usual reading pattern anyway. :)

Am starting: Dreaming Spies in the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series by Laurie R. King and Carry on, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse. (Jeeves and Wooster make great listening when I can't sleep but am too tired to read.)
Good job, everyone who finished books recently!

I've read that most people like his later books better than the earlier ones, and this is considered the first of the later. But whatever - I'll definitely read some more by him. Julia Quinn used to be my go-to author for the letter Q; it's nice to have another one available. (Lots of his books are on OverDrive, which I use all the time.) Honestly the trial scene and results left me breathless. Really enjoyed it!

Closing on a house is a big deal! And moving is always a lot of work. My husband was career Navy, and I used to think if I was organized enough I could make sure our moves went perfectly. Eventually I gave up on that. lol Just getting everyone to the new destination alive and sane was good enough. :)

If someone else has a book they want to use for Q that's fine, too. I'll start this one just in case.
Halfway House by Ellery Queen. Ellery Queen isn't the author's real name, of course, the books were written by two men. But I assume it's the name the book is published under that counts.
ETA- Maybe it would be better not to enter the books on the goals spreadsheet till they're read? That way if something comes up another quicker one can be substituted? But I always bow to the captain's superior knowledge of how it works. :)

Congrats to everyone who's finished a book today!

Good for you! I've been wanting to reread that one - haven't read it since I was a kid. Sorry you found it dull. At least you have the satisfaction of knowing it helps the team, right? :)

Whenever I read those books I think of how she and Cadfael would have enjoyed each other. He and Owen would get along, too, as they both have military backgrounds. :)
