35559 Love this Kirsten! Makes me feel a bit like our annoying Violet! We are invincible and you are our heroine with 1,000 page books!
Go team go!

35559 Happy Canada Day to all our Canadian friends on our team! Your country is so beautiful! We've visited both coasts and also the interior and are always astounded at the friendliness and scenic views!

Switzerland has some of the bluest sky I've ever seen. Have a great trip!

Alaska is our final 50th state to see. We are very excited to be going the end of August. Enjoy the cooler weather!

I am a bit bummed that we slipped to 2nd place, TBH, but I also believe we're going to be on fire for July!🔥
I agree having an awesome team like ours is most important, but I can't lie...I want to win! Haha!

35559 Vi, Suzanne and others,
We have the best discussions on this thread! It's so fun solving the world's problems with you all!

35559 Kelli,
You crack me up! Thanks for the laughs!

There are some wonderful writers who do manage to get published, but it's always stunning to me how many people get published who can't write much above a 5th grade level. My mom always said using profanity was showing your lack of vocabulary. Sounds like our moms are similar in that respect.

35559 I was granted my extra entry for 4th wing and also signed up as an alternate question writer. Fingers crossed we get chosen!

Sorry for the middle of the night awake time, Vi. I'm often up at night too. Thank goodness I always have something to read.

Kelli, your comments about Fourth Wing are spot on for me. I keep thinking this is more of a YA read than anything else, but then I wouldn't want younger YAs to read it due to all the swearing. So far the MC Violet, is reminding me of the character Ruth from the TV series, Ozarks. Her difficulty to get through a sentence without the "F" word and guts and strong-will and cunningness are all like Ruth. Violet's self talk chatter is about to run me over the edge! Since someone is violently dying about every 5 pages it's just numbing me to all the death. I'm not getting involved with the more minor characters bc I know they're going to killed in a few chapters. I've got it on audio, so at least I can multi-task while I listen.

35559 Thanks, Kirsten and Suzanne! So glad you think it works. I'm about 40% done, but I'll wait to finish it until after July 1st. I'll add it now.

35559 Friends,
I looked through the traits for Slytherin House in our new Wheel challenge. I have been reading The Lying Game by Ruth Ware . It is the story of 4 young women who fit the description of Slytherin as they are full of: ambition, leadership, self-preservation, cunning and resourcefulness. The cover of the book has the fish net which is green on a tan background, which to me looks a bit like snake scales. Am I reaching too much or is it enough that the character traits fit very well, so that alone would qualify it?

35559 I put my name in as a backup question writer for our team for 4th Wing and also to get an extra entry from reading 11/22/63 and Daughter of Doctor Moreau. Hopefully I only need to have read two BOMs to get the extra entry. I'm sure I've read some in 2022, so if need be, I can add another one from then.

35559 Les Miz is sooo good! Some of my favorite broadway music ever! Glad you got to see it!
35559 I would like to be a back up writer for Kerri on Ashara.
Also, can I use an extra entry for Ashara?

35559 We just got home (again!) from camping with our 6 grands ages 3, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 12. They're all really good kids, but still as fun as it was it was also exhausting. Especially all the prep work and then getting things back in place upon returning home. We had tons of activity with hiking, swimming, kayaking, games and playing in nature, but in between it felt like we were always cooking and keeping fires going!

I did read a bit each night, but way below my quota. I will not finish 4th wing before the end of the month, so count on that for July.

Reading through all the comments on the thread and oh my, we have a new challenge! I'll take a look and hopefully figure out a way to read for it. Sometimes it takes a few times reading directions to figure out a new mini. :0

35559 I finished my chipmunk task, but the SS won't let me check the box for chipmunk task and it's not showing up on the chipmunk task page. Please let me know if there's something I need to do differently.

35559 I will be reading Seven Little Australians for Chipmunk task 135. I read it years ago and it was a fun little read, so I'm happy to read it again!

35559 Leslie, I read The Ten Thousand Doors of January recently. I'll be curious to know what you think about it.

It doesn't look like anyone has claimed 11th in the series or TEN in author's initials yet. I'll look around a bit and see what I can find. For TEN in author's initials, I assume the order can be moved, correct? In other words it could be Ella Trent Newell, right?

35559 I've used the 30 day trial before. I kept it for awhile, but then found I wasn't using it much. These challenges do encourage us to take advantage of the subscriptions. :)

6 months! Wow, it's gotten super popular! I wonder if you could find a used copy for cheap, since so many people have read it in the last year or so. Shame it's such a long wait.

35559 Really wish I could read the Carrie Soto book again for points, but I just read it February of this year, so it's not been 6 months yet. I do recommend it, especially if you like tennis.

Sorry if I caused confusion, Lisa. I just meant my audio version is due back to my library in 19 days. You're such a fast reader, I don't think you'll have any problem finishing it as long as it comes in 3 or so days before the challenge ends.
