It is HUGE that we have everyone checked in on the first day! Congratulations, team, we're off to a great start!Our color cover for this first Round is white. The cover needs to be 50% or more white. If you're unsure, or TinEye is being wonky, feel free to post your book on the thread and we can all give feedback.
I just finished
which is a great choice for a white cover and is a funny, fast read if anyone is interested. I am currently in the Turf Wars challenge, which will overlap with Wheel, so hoping my books will work for double duty. Anyone else currently playing in other challenges?

Hello Team!I'm Nanci your co-captain and so happy to be with Suzanne on another adventure of Wheel! Suzanne is a fabulous captain and fun to boot!
A little about me. I am retired from the public school system where I spent 12 years teaching most grade levels in elementary and 20 years as a school counselor. My husband and I have been married 44 years and we have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren. We live in Virginia and love to travel.
Fun to see some familiar names along with new names. If you're not already my friend, I sent you a friend request, so keep an eye out for that. It's really helpful for the captains to be friends with each team member, so we can reach you privately, if needed.
Also, please never be shy about asking questions if you don't understand. We usually all benefit from the questions asked and rules vary from challenge to challenge, so even if you're a seasoned player it's normal to need clarification.
I'm not into rap, but I taught rhyming words for a long time, so here is my attempt.
My name is Nanci and I'm here to say
I love to play Wheel come what may
Our team will be awesome cause we're not uptight
The other teams will fear us and you know that's right
So read, read, read and then read some more
You'll have lots of fun and it won't be a chore
We'll support one another when a task is due

Elinor, I like your thinking! They have let our Turf War team stay together for two times now. Maybe Suzanne can woo the mods. Suzanne, your life sure has been busy. Prayers for your bil to make a strong recovery. You’re a good caregiver!
Elinor, I was aware of some of the debate surrounding the book, but I didn't realize it was banned in so many states. I did some research and most of the bans in those states are in primarily white communities. It has come back again to high schools in some districts where it was formerly banned, but I suspect it will continue to be an area of contention in the future. As you know, it's one of my top 10 books ever and our three children have all read it, as hopefully our grandchildren will also when they are old enough. I miss chatting with everyone on our team also. We are currently in Alaska enjoying the beautiful scenery, even if the weather has, for the most part, been cool and drizzly. We have now spent time in each one of our 50 states, so a fun mile marker for us!

Hooray! So glad the official announcement got posted. I actually sent Judith a message and asked and she said the mods just got busy and forgot to post. Way to go winning team!!!

Yes, you may use whatever book you want in the spell outs. :)
The lists are always going to give you the most points and they also will work for any territory, so that's the big plus for reading a book from a featured list.
The link works and it was fun to browse through the threads and see what people are reading. If they offer this again, I'll participate, but right now with Turf Wars I need shorter books, so I'll have to pass. Hope you get some long ones checked off your TBR Elinor.
