Shannon wrote: "Hey guys! Havent been reading a lot as ive been in quite a bit of pain. Going back to the oral surgeon tomorrow and hopefully he can help and ill be back to reading"Yikes, Shannon! Oral surgery is what I had too. I had receding gums, which was shocking to me, as I'm a nut about taking good care of my teeth. I've had two procedures and one more to go. I find the first week is pretty rough, but by the end of the second week, I'm feeling almost back to normal. Hope you get out of your pain!
I love your last sentence, Suzanne! Reminds me of a typical 3 year old stomping their foot and yelling, "You're not the boss of me!" I used to just laugh and laugh when our kids went through that stage. Often that was followed by "I do it meself!" to which I would always think, "Go for it, kiddo!" :))So true...Tineye is not the boss of us!
Suzanne wrote: "Thanks Nanci. I just told my husband that my eyes need the equivalent of a palate cleanser after looking at color covers"Hahaha!
BTW- I have a few books I'll need to carry over into June. I will finish The Best of Me since it's due for Turf Wars by May 30, but that will be the last book for me.
Kerri, hope you're feeling better with each passing day. I always find day 3 to be the roughest. Anesthesia kicks my fanny too! I'm a baby with any meds. Even OTC Benadryl puts me right to sleep. :)
Suzanne,As to your covers...the first definitely works for dark red. The second is a bit tricky. I see about half brown and half dark orange when I enlarge the picture. I think it would work for either color.
Oops. Well I guess it was someone else. Might have even been on my Turf Wars team. Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Yay! Fabulous that we have all our Tower page ranges completed! Leslie Ann, I think it was you who said way back in the thread that you liked Joyland and I never told you I did too! Very different than many of his other books I've read. No horror, all mystery. I just realized I never wrote a review, so off to do that too.
Wow, lots to catch up on this thread! I love how we're all so chatty!Going way back in the thread...Suzanne, it's good they shut your grandson's school down. So sad that these childhood viruses are coming back, when there are vaccines that have worked so well for decades and saved many lives. To me (and with a daughter who works in the NICU) it's not political it's science and protects those who can't be protected, like newborns and people with auto-immune diseases. Keli is correct the rate has dramatically increased world-wide. Enough said...stepping off my soapbox. :)
Vi and Eleanor, count me in with starting the King doorstopper early with you. The English edition came in to my library yesterday and seeing that book is so intimidating! I'm not a fast reader either Elinor, so hope I can keep up with the lot of you. I have a few others to read alongside for Turf Wars, which makes it doubly hard.
Cris, huge shout out for finishing that 500-599 page book! I think we still need 3 more.
Lisa, have a great trip and nice bonus if you get some extra reading time in too. I thought I would have extra time also this weekend, but it's quickly filling up with social activities. It is supposed to rain here in VA on Monday and while I wouldn't want everyone's plans to be spoiled, it would give me reading time, so that could be good.
Kirsten, I had to giggle when I read your rhyme, "I've got a U in my queue"!
Happy weekend all!
I'm going to hold off until June 1 finishing my book, The German Wife. It will start us off with a book that fits the 400-499page tower and maybe work for Chipmunk task.
Shannon, I had gum surgery 12 days ago and still healing although things are going well. I know just how you feel with a sore mouth! I had mine out in hs and still went to a NYE party 2 days later, much to my mom's chagrin. Amazing how fast you heal when you're young! Hope your healing goes well. The mouth is the fastest to heal, so that's good. I get my stitches out June 1 and can now chew some, so I'm over the rough part. I couldn't read at all the first two days as this time I had to have an anesthetic for the procedure and all I did was sleep!
Jen, the end of the school year checkout is always a lot. Having to move on top of it is really time consuming. I had to move my things to another classroom a few times and that was bad enough. I hope the move to the other school is at least a change for the better for you and that things go as well as possible. You're almost at the finish line!

Thanks so much, Apoorv! I thought I had entered the 7 for the task, but I must not have. I appreciate you doing it and explaining it too!
Ok, thanks to MN Lisa I have the link for my question above.https://www.goodreads.com/list/best_b...
I finally found a book on the 2015 list (I Was Here) that I could get from my library, and I entered it on the "Books" tab of the SS, but it's not automatically populating on the "Chipmunks" tab. I see others have their books on the "Chipmunks" tab, but I don't see them on the "Books" tab. I tried to enter it directly on the "Chipmunks" tab, but that didn't work either. Can someone help me with what I'm doing wrong?
For the Chipmunks tasks how are you all getting the link for tasks #1 and #3 and #7. I can't get those "Best of 2014" or "Best of 2013" or "Best of 2015" lists to come up. They won't open when I hover or click on them.
I just looked at DuoLingo and completed my first day. I'm hooked! Cris and Shannon thanks so much for letting me know about it. Seems like it's going to be fun and a good way to grow my brain!
Suzanne, thanks for answering my question about the mini. I just hate to read a book that doesn't fit the mini, but I'm sure we'll get the few remaining tasks covered using other books.Cris, I'm impressed you're learning Spanish. One of my goals when I retired was to learn a second language, but I haven't made the time to tackle that yet.
To the rest of you who had a good laugh at not noticing my book edition, I'm glad I could provide you with a laugh or smile. :) It's taken me a long time, and I still take small things a bit too seriously from time to time, but learning not to sweat the small stuff gives me a lot more reason to laugh now.
Kerri wrote: "Nanci wrote: "OMGosh! My son-in-law was over today and looked at my Stephen King doorstopper book (11/22/63) and asked me, "Mom since when did you learn to read Spanish? "What??", I responded. Turn..."I wouldn't have been able to read more than a few words in the entire book. High school Spanish was waaay long ago! Looks like I'm quick in the queue at my library, so hopefully all will be well.
Finally finshed BOM The Daughter of Doctor Moreau and finished answering the questions for points. So glad to be done with that.I have finished Joyland also. There's not a letter left that works for the book in the Crayola Towers. Those of you who have read it, do you see any way it might fit in any of the spots left for the Winners Towers?
