I've started 11/22/63 but it's been slow going. I've little to no idea about the JFK assassination and the repercussions so I've tri..."I was in 6th grade when it happened and remember it well. We were all sent home from school early, but not told why. Everyone was so sad and shocked. John and Jackie were thought of as the closest thing to royalty the US had. Democrats as well as republicans loved photos of the attractive young couple and their children in the White House. John and his family were the most photographed White House family up to his term.
Suzanne wrote: "I hope you enjoy it Shannon! (And everyone else.) I am enjoying it - although I'm not liking this middle section quite as much as I liked the first."I am also finding it starting to drag a bit towards the middle. For those who are further along, does it pick back up again. Fingers crossed!
Shannon wrote: "I've finished my netgalley book so onto the Stephen King! Excited as this is my first Stephen King book!"Yay for you, Shannon!
Suzanne wrote: "But you've started! How are you liking it so far Nanci?"I really like it! I'm almost half way done, so not quite as nervous about finishing it in time. My main issue is that we're on our cruise from June 17-24th with very limited wifi, since we don't want to pay their crazy price. I probably won't be able to answer any of the questions until after the 25th when we get back home, but I'm sure I'll get finished reading it.
Suzanne wrote: "The Shining will work because of the author, and as Apoorv said, so will 11/22/63 (which also mentions clowns). All good books for page points too - so should we use use whatever happens first for ..."Yes, I would say use whichever of those books finishes first. I can tell you it won't be me with 11/22/63....teehee! I wanted to get read up to Chapter 11 today, but my day got filled up more than I thought and I just got home from Mah jongg with my neighbors, so I'll see how it goes.

Cris, glad “Eleanor” was a hit for you. I love characters like her and found it to be a great read also!
Suzanne wrote: "Thanks Nanci! I think it's fine to use. Its only the 10th so there's still lots of time to get books of all page lengths. I'll do my summary tomorrow after company leaves :)"Sounds good!

I went ahead and moved Shannon's City of Brass book for the task, so if you decide it shouldn't be there, feel free to take it off.

Yay! Another chipmunk knocked off! Well, not to be mean...they are cute as can be! LOL

Anyone claiming chipmunk task #58, "book with a map in it" yet?
We are really running through those tasks, team!
Janeylou wrote: "Great ..can someone put my name by the Gillian book, not decided which one yet"I put you down for task #46.

I just saw that Kirsten filled the "vanilla" task for Chipmunks, so I changed my book on the SS. FYI, it does not have a task now, so I'll keep an eye on the Chipmunk new tasks to see if it will fit one of them.
Kerri wrote: "Hey team! Y'all are kicking butt with those chipmunk challenges! I'm a slower reader, so I'm trying to focus on page number books. Speaking of, I'll be starting our doorbuster tonight now that I've..."Hard to say on that cover, but I think black and shades of gray mostly.

I just finished the chipmunk task for vanilla. Someone please add it to spreadsheet so we can open another chipmunk task. I’ll add it to my shelf when we get home in an hour

I can take "vanilla" task for chipmunks. I just found that it's on page 143. "It was still warm, and smelled like vanilla." I'm at 44%, so 6 hours of listening left. I should have it completed in a day or two.
If anyone else gets it done first, that's fine!
Vi wrote: "I was snooping around.. few teams are far ahead in their Chipmunk tasks.. around 50 - 60 tasks done on average. I'm really amazed by that! It has been only 9 days since June started."That is unbelievable and scary for us! We were doing so well. Wouldn't that mean they are knocking out an average of 5 tasks every day? Wow.

Yay! I love that you loved it, Cris! It always is a bit worrisome when I recommend a book, since everyone has such different tastes. You crushed it!
Lisa, congratulations on your daughter's graduation! Enjoy the ceremonies!
Janeylou, you buzz through your books, so I'm guessing that no one gets to that task before you!
I started the King doorstopper yesterday afternoon. Really liking it so far...what a relief!

She does that in a few of her books.

Cris, you are tearing it up! I find most of her books to be fairly quick reads, especially when you are familiar with her writing technique. Glad you’re liking it!

Cris, I fell in love with Amy Tan after reading that one and she’s never let me down in her subsequent books. Hope you like her.
