222868 Woohoo! I just got approved for an ARC of The Other Half of the Grave (Night Huntress) by Jeaniene Frost on netgalley.

Its been so long since I read Cat & Bones, but maybe that's a good thing. I've been meaning to do a reread for ages, but never got around to it. Or maybe I'll just read the first 2 books quick, before this book comes out on 4/26.

I'm up to date on all the BDB books, just have not read the last Wolven book. I actually did not care for the last BDB book, lol. This one made up for it. I was shocked I was approved. I'm thinking it's because I updated my profile as a bookseller with my own store.

222868 I'm about 70% in reading ARC of Lover Arisen (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #20) by J.R. Ward and holy moly. I was actually stunned. Stunned I tell you! But no I won't spoil and tell you why. I don't know how I'm going to write this review with some of these events. Not being able to mention the BIG REVEAL is going to be tough. But I will say that I am enjoying this one much more than the last one. I like Balz and Ericka a lot.

Thanks for checking out the site! I have a lot of fun with the vintage books. I just got a first printing of Go Ask Alice, a hardcover of Roots, a fine hardcover of Lonesome Dove had a hardcover of the Hobbitt (which lasted a day in the store) and some books from the 1800s. I have fun researching them.

222868 I was just approved for an ARC of the next BDB book Lover Arisen (can't get the link thingy to work).

Anyway, I did not read the Wolven book yet - do you think it matters? Where's my BDB gang at?

Also, I just requested it like an hour ago and was approved, so if any of you that occasionally get ARCs through NetGalley want to get it you probably have a good shot. I do not have a blog or anything and I was approved - I was actually kind of shocked....

222868 My store website is published, if you want to take a look:
https://loveyourshelfusedbooks.square...

Not everything is listed - way too many used books coming in and out for that - but if anyone is looking for something let me know. I can also order new books and have them shipped right to you.

222868 I'm reading an ARC Demon Hunting with a Southern Sheriff. I'm having trouble with it. I just don't remember anything from previous books other than a few names. I don't even remember the sheriff from earlier books. Its interfering with my enjoyment.

It's still good, I just wish I remembered the significance of the singing metal giant, Jeb, who carries a peanut.

222868 I just finished my complete Others reread last night and started Crowbones this morning.

I've had like 5 books in my netgalley for a month, but they are still a ways out from publishing.

222868 A customer asked that I order a new book for her. She thought she was helping me by supporting local business. The truth is if a bookstore (in the US anyway) orders one book through Ingram you have to pay $5.50 shipping plus the fuel charge, so the 40% off list price you usually get (some are only 20% or 25% off list price) that would be your profit is gone.

There's a 15 unit minimum to get free shipping (still have the fuel charge). So for one book you either lose money or break even depending on how much the book cost.

So...I added all the Kate Daniels books I was missing from my collection to the order including Blood Heir and Iron & Magic - those were only 25% off list price. I even got Magic Stars (Kate Daniels, #8.5, Grey Wolf, #1) by Ilona Andrews , there's about 500 of them sitting in the TX warehouse. (I did order some other new books for the store as well.)

They have this new option called direct to home. You order the book for the customer and they will ship it right to the customer for $5.50 shipping and it appears to come from your store on the return label, but you have to ring the sale through your own system to charge the customer. I'm attending a video conference on how this works in a few weeks.

222868 Just finished the Aurora Rising YA trilogy. I really liked it, enough to stay up late reading wanting to know what was going to happen. I laughed, I cried. Now I'm gonna have a book hangover....

222868 Happy New Year!

Had the best sales week yet last week at my store. Saturday was crazy busy. The comic book store next door was having a huge sale so I got a lot of crossover traffic. I've managed to break even on rent and utilities for the the first 2 months. That's with no advertising other than facebook business page and word of mouth. Got my first store review online as well!

Just finished Aurora Rising (The Aurora Cycle, #1) by Amie Kaufman , Really liked it - first YA in awhile I have enjoyed.

222868 Barnes & Noble is having a 50% off hardcover sale - every hardcover in the store. I went yesterday to one and picked up a few things - one I wanted for my collection, and 4 I haven't read yet but heard really good things about. If I don't love them enough to keep I will sell in my store. I'm going today to a different store (the one today is a bigger store).

222868 Merry Christmas!

Saw this Jeaniene Frost's facebook page....

What's next: THE OTHER HALF OF THE GRAVE, with new free chapters plus contests!
In October, I told you that I’d soon announce what was next, and I’d have a holiday surprise for you, too. Well, I’m late posting this, but I’m finally here to deliver on those promises. Without further ado, my next novel will be THE OTHER HALF OF THE GRAVE, a new look at the origin story of Cat and Bones told through Bones’s eyes. Ever wondered what Bones was thinking and feeling when he and Cat first met? Or how their story might differ if he were the one telling it?
Coming April 26th, 2022, THE OTHER HALF OF THE GRAVE answers all those questions and more! Relive the beginning of Cat and Bones’s bestselling love story through Bones’s point of view, which shows a darker, sexier take on their early days, as well as a deeper dive into parts of the vampire world that Cat didn’t see when their story was told only through her eyes in HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE.

222868 Kresley Cole is coming back. Munro will be out I believe in February. I joined her new facebook group, and applied to be on her ARC team. Sounds like she has new agent, publicist, new everything.

Anyone can join the facebook group, but you have to answer questions (favorite book, thing like that).

222868 The entire Throne of Glass series is an amazon kindle special - all 8 books for 5.99 in a bundle. (regular price $68)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PD33VZ3?...

I'm tempted, but I did not like the other book by her I read. People have told me I should've stuck with book 2 though.

So, opinions? Buy or don't buy?
