I finished Silver Elite by Dani Francis
4* for me. Not my usual type becuase its New Adult mixed with dystopian AND first person present tense, which I don't usually care for.

I was hooked though, lol. A couple of plot issues that were resolved too easily to make things work and one TSTL moment for the h that could've been handled differently but it was needed to get the plot to work. But I just didn't care for some reason. A few good twists too!

222868 I finished Zero Stars, Do Not Recommend by M.J. Wassmer in audio. The narration was fantastic. I gave it 3* but more like 3.5*. It was both hilarious and disturbing.

222868 Here's today's voting reminder, lol

Also, I am almost done with Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry . I'm really liking it. Very slow burn and long waits to see stuff revealed that I think I've figured out but in a good way, lol. There's still a lot of stuff not made clear at all to keep you guessing. Going to be a long wait for the next book. Hoping the ending is too traumatic. :)

I'm reading it now. I like it so far.

Definitely better than Dragonhart The brand new forced proximity fantasy romance for 2025 (Dragonhart, Book 1) by Abbie Eaton . I had to DNF that one after 9 chapters. The main character was horrible and it was all telling and no showing.

Yes! She was so funny! So was Megan Quinn, who did the "interviewing". Her husband was super funny too. I forgot what exactly she was saying but at one point she paused and he just stuck a thumbs out from behind the curtain and had everyone laughing. There were 700 people at the launch!

Also, the store hired a photographer for the photo line and had pictures uploaded the next day for us to download. But when it was my turn I asked her if my husband coold take an extra one so I could post on social media right away since I own a store and carry her books, and she was like "of course!"

222868 Bookshop.org launched ebooks today! They gave us no advanced notice because there was an information embargo due to the NYT article this morning.

This means you can now buy ebooks from an independent bookstore! So I'll be buying books from myself, lol.

This is my store link but you can choose any bookstore you want.
And the app is pretty cool! There's a section for books less than $3 (including some very popular authors).

I'm so stupid. I could be reading it now since my store copies came in, but I want to do a reread of the first 2 books (going to do the graphic audio) because I forgot a lot. I should've done my re-listens weeks ago!

The third book comes out in less than 2 weeks. I took preorders at my store. They're pretty good - its more new adult than YA and there is on page sex scene. I think it hit the right spot for a lot of non fantasy readers becasue its a good fantasy with a good story but not high fantasy, and the dragons are really cool, lol.

I'm going to reread with the graphic audio versions becasue I forgot a lot and want to enjoy the 3rd book.

222868 I've read the first 2 books of the LIFEL1K3 (Lifelike, #1) by Jay Kristoff trilogy. Jay Kristoff never disappoints. Starting book 3 today.

For audio I picked up The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year by Ally Carter on sale at Libro.FM. It was less than $3, and its great so far.

Someone in my store book club heard Lucy Score was going to Salem NH for her only east coast appearance in March. Its at a theather about 90 minutes from my house (I'm in MA). Two of the book clubbers got tickets, I forgot about it until 2 days ago, and it was almost sold out and I'd have to sit by myself, so my hubby said to get 2 tickets and he'd go with me.

I got an ARC of Katherine Center's new book The Love Haters by Katherine Center mailed to me from the publisher. I was super excited because I love KC. Then I opened it up to take out the publisher promo letter and there was a personalized note from Katherine Center - she addresses me by first name and mentions my bookstore name. I posted about it on social media and she responded to me on Instagram. I'm going to frame it and hang it in my store. I love owning a bookstore, lol.

Hope you enjoy it! I just finished Leather & Lark (The Ruinous Love Trilogy, #2) by Brynne Weaver audiobook. I liked it alot, just not as much as the first book. Again narration was great.
