The bad guy in Fever (the one that was involved with Mac's sister) was the bad guy in The Immortal Highlander (Adam's book), that's how he ends up in the human world.

I also didn't care for character's being messed with after getting their happier endings in their books, that's why I'm hoping things work out, lol. But I love the Fever books anyway.

222868 I'm doing a re-read of the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning then will be moving on the a full Fever series reread so I will know WTH is going on the last book and can really enjoy it.

A lot of stuff mentioned in Fever was first seen in the highlander books (the hallows - spear, sword etc.) so I am really trying to pay attention to those details again. I'm on Daegus' book now, and last I heard he was not faring so well in the Fever books, and just saw Christian for the first time as a teenager and he was a hot mess the last time I read about him in Fever - hoping these two end up ok. But some characters were already killed off so who knows....

I watched the first few True Blood shows and at first was very close to the books. Then there was just too much stuff added into the show and I stopped watching.

The Sookie books are very good, I enjoyed them. There are different men in her life throughout the series. Its been a long, long time since I read them, but its not like a Kate & Curran thing throughout the series. I don't recall cheating or anything but just breakups for various reasons and meeting someone else.

Gunnie Rose is a very different type of book. There is one love interest with its own difficulties that need to be overcome. Even with all the killing and some dark moments its also full of humor (at least I think its funny at times). :)

222868 Just popping on to say that I am enjoying the Gunnie Rose books by Charlaine Harris.

Takes a bit of getting used to with the world building and there's a lot of killing. I just love Lisbeth (main character). I did not care for the plot of book 2 as much so 3* for that one but the other 2 have been 4* for me.

Line from last book as Lisbeth is making lunch, and the woman who owns the house she is in comes and apologizes because she is a guest in the house:

Who did she think was going to make lunch? I'd killed the maid.

(Don't worry, the maid was a bad guy.)

222868 Oh and another thing about the different kindle fires.....

My older one has a feature where you can set it to automatically adjust the screen for the amount of light in the room. It adjusts by itself and I could read in the car with daylight no problem, no glare. This newer one does not have that feature so I am constantly adjusting the lighting on my own, and it s a pain.

I switched to the kindle fire I had given to my mom before she passed and it is newer than mine. I would open a doc from my cloud to read and it would open, but if I closed the kindle I would sometimes be back on the home screen next time I opened it. So I looked in docs and in the kindle app on it and it was nowhere. So I would have to download again, and it kept starting at the beginning. I like this kindle because it is much lighter than my other one, but I like the other one's features better. This one is also very glitchy - freezes often and have to wait for it to respond, sluggish when I open things, etc.

222868 Finished my series reread of Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega books. Phew! Now I need to do a Fever series reread before I read the last book. Its been way too long and I want to love the last book. But I'm going to hold off a bit and get to some of these first.

Secrets of the Sword 3 (Death Before Dragons #9) by Lindsay Buroker
Fortune Funhouse (Miss Fortune Mystery, #19) by Jana Deleon
Beguiled (Betwixt & Between #3) by Darynda Jones
Master of Storms (Legends of the Storm, #5) by Bec McMaster

222868 I jut pre-ordered the next Patricia Briggs' book Wild Sign (Alpha & Omega, #6) by Patricia Briggs from Adventures Underground which will be a signed copy because Patty stops in there to sign all her books. Its full list price plus shipping makes it about $10 more for me than on Amazon since I have Prime, but worth it to me to have a signed copy and help out a small business. (

(If you preorder a signed copy you need to put in the notes section if you want just a signature or personalized note)

I believe all the Briggs books in stock are signed as well, if anyone wants something signed by her:

222868 I went to the Used Book Superstore after my daughter's doctor appointment today, since we already were only 15 minutes away (its about an hour from my house).

I scored a first edition hardcover of Into the Dreaming (Highlander, #8) by Karen Marie Moning and a hardcover of Patricia Briggs duololgy with Wolfsbane & Masques, and a hardcover of Burn Bright (Alpha & Omega, #5; Mercy Thompson World - Complete, #15) by Patricia Briggs , plus a Kate Daniels MMP since I am trying to complete that series too.

And then finally the book I ordered off Amazon came today. Its a hardcover of Hunting Ground (Alpha & Omega, #2) by Patricia Briggs . It goes for like $300-$600 online. I got an ex-library copy for $21 and used amazon points so it was free for me. It was in better condition than I expected. I managed to get the plastic library covering off and the dust jacket is in great shape. Only issue is a giant stamp with the name of the library across the top pages when the book is closed. But you can't see it when the book is shelved. It also has a stamp inside with a date and one of those magnetic things so you can't steal it. I'm very happy with it, since I would never spend the hundreds on it and this was the last difficult book to get for this series in hardcover. I just need Fair Game hardcover now and that's like $8 used online.

222868 I'm doing a series reread of Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega - chronologically with the short stories from Shifting Shadows intermixed.

Anyway, this part in Moon Called struck me differently since the "Bran revelation".

(Bran and Mercy in her motel room)

He sighed heavily and leaned back in the chair, balancing it on two legs, his own legs dangling in the air.

"People don't do that," I told him.
He raised an eyebrow. "Do what?"
"Balance like that - not unless they're teenage boys showing off for their girlfriends."
He brought all four legs back on the floor abruptly. "Thank you." Bran liked to appear as human as possible, but his gratitude was a little sharp. I took a hasty sip of cocoa so he wouldn't see my amusement.

222868 The FINAL Fever book by Karen Marie Moning is coming out in February.

I just heard the delay was because she had long term CO2 poisoning (like 2 years) and suffered cognitive issues she had to overcome.

Kingdom of Shadow and Light Kingdom of Shadow and Light (Fever, #11) by Karen Marie Moning

I had it on my list for awhile but never got to it. It did get some hype a while back. If I recall I didn't bother because a common complaint was the editing was bad and that really irks me. But corrections could've been made since then, it was a couple of years ago.

222868 Karen Chance was dropped by her publisher. She's doing independent publishing now soshe can finish the series. I love the Cassie Palmer series and the Dorina books. She does go on facebook regularly letting people know what's going on, if there are delays, etc.

222868 speaking of authors/series that have not moved forward, what about Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole? I have been waiting YEARS to read this series because of reported cliff hangers, etc. Next book says 2021 but no date. (Last book was 2018)

I don't even ask any more about IAD books from her. I guess Munro was supposed to be next. I know I shouldn't complain, I mean these authors are human beings with lives to live and their own problems and issues and it sounds selfish of me. I just like series to actually end and not leave people hanging.

222868 Just saw on Patricia Briggs facebook page that she stopped at a local bookstore and signed all the copies they had in stock of her books, and she will be back next month sign the new book coming out.

The store ships, so I bought the last 2 Mercy books in hardcover that I needed. So I get signed copies and supporting a local business (even if not local to me).

It looks like the Bec McMaster book is her first book her dragon series Heart of Fire so some folks might already have it. I know I do! This is the one where they used my review as front matter in the later books. I'm thinking of purchasing them all in paperback for my shelves just because of that.....
