222868 I am about the 50% mark and can say 1 thing for sure, only the REALLY good authors can write slow moving or scenes where there is little happening and still keep you captivated, Nalini Singh is one of them. She manages to impart some of the different characters emotions into these stories.

222868 Reading Archangel's Viper at the 35% mark and while a bit slow, not boring, leading up to something I can't see yet. the overdone snark between Holly and Viper is getting old though but it may be fading away (I hope)

222868 Reading this, after you get past the first couple of chapters (in which you will think this is totally silly) it becomes an addictive reading and hugely entertaining. The Kingpin of Camelot

It is a forum most of us read/post on Amazon, similar to this one but more busy and wide variation of topics although we try to stay with Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy mainly. Give it a try, its free.

222868 To be honest it is about the only one, some people kept voting down Dicey until she left and this current nutjob but overall there has been almost nothing in the way on unpleasantness there, I like this one since I can speak of ARCs or even use a curse word if needed (Amazon has deleted SO many of my posts) but this is just a bit of a spin-off of our Amazon forum, not a replacement (and I get to rant a bit more it seems)

222868 The web will always have trolls that live to cause trouble. I have one person who has taken an obsessive hate for me on the other forum, never do understand how people who gather together to talk about books or movies with a few off topic discussions attract somebody who is so hate filled but I guess it is just a reflection of society. She seems to be incensed by the fact I exist :)

222868 There are many types of reviewers, sadly they are a few that I doubt ever read the books they review but they are few but they get a lot of attention from publishers and authors because they never write anything below a 4-5 Star reviews. You have others that can only write ether 1-2 Star reviews or 4-5 Star reviews while the truth is many more books fall into that 3 Stars ="I liked it but did not love it" category. I like to believe I review honestly, most of my reviews ARE in the 4-5 Star range but mainly because if the book does not sound like something I would like, I don't bother reading it usually, hence the high side of my reviews but I write a few 1-2 Star reviews I think deserve it and a few other 3 Star reviews because being human we tend towards a "love it or hate it" type mindset.

As far as getting upset about reviews against a favorite author that depends on if they had a logical reason, logical does not mean it was true, it means there was a logical reason for THIS person to rate it low. I will give VERY low ratings to a book that turns into propaganda for a favorite cause/religion/political party. I read for entertainment and not to be subtly fed propaganda. you might be surprised to realize how much this happens but there are shades of grey in many things, there is religion in the Jane Yellowrock books but it is not trying to preach to anyone, it is just part of who Jane is, interestingly (so far) the vast majority of authors seem to hate Trump but it has not really shown up in their writings but then again most books being released now were written some time in the past so I wait to see if that hate spills over into their writings. If they wish to hate anything on their Facebook page that is their right but in a book I read for entertainment I get a say in making the rules :)

(damn that turned into a rant)

Just make sure you start with Firelight the publisher had a money grab prequel called Ember that is a complete waste of money since pretty much all of it is in Firelight (and yes I loved the whole series)

222868 re: The King's Books, I am only behind the last book, usually I read them soon as they come out but I am really messed up in my schedules due to the Kutherian Universe and the writings of Mark Lawrence. This little jewel is laying around in my TBR still

222868 Well Kerrelyn Sparks has never been one of my favorite authors, her books were entertaining a bit but mostly silliness but this new series The Embraced is top shelf fantasy romance and adventure and pretty much none of the silliness I have associated with her works (except for those cheesy titles). Allow me to give a great recommendation for the 2 book out so far, basically they are a group of 4-5 girls and they were all put on an island for their safety and it seem (so far) that each of them will get a book and most if not all were hidden royalty of some sort. Book 1 was good but I am about 30% into book 2 and really loving it.

How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days (The Embraced #1) by Kerrelyn Sparks

So I Married a Sorcerer (The Embraced #2) by Kerrelyn Sparks (in 9 days)

This one won't be out until March of next year but sounds good also Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon (The Embraced, #3) by Kerrelyn Sparks

222868 If you have not read Death Becomes Her it might be a good start, you usually need something in a different genre, this one looks like paranormal but its not ....... exactly LOL
