Finished
Bayou Born and it was a mixed bag, the pacing was slow for the first part of the book then it became a bit jumbled as we went along BUT I kept reading because it was very interesting even if the heroine was kinda weak and irritating. The plot takes you one way then another and the ending was frustrating, not a cliffhanger as such but left you with too many questions to really feel good about it IMHO . I will be getting the next one to get some answer if nothing else, seems to be plots inside of plots here.

@Frisco - Just a couple of chapters into
Bayou Born and so far looks really good, one interesting thing , she has one of those old black dial phones not connected to anything that only rings on her birthday :) It looks to be a fun ride

Finished
Lockheed Elite and it was a LOT better than I expected, not much romance, I would say it was mostly "science fiction adventure" with a couple of nice twists you won't see coming (and a few you will see coming)

Well this is where some of my settlement money is going.

Does anyone know how to get it to quote the later part of a post for a more accurate response?"I have gotten to where I just copy/paste the part I want to reply to if needed, I would be curious if there is a better way.

Reading a book I was given to review (that I have had for almost 2 months, got a very polite reminder in email LOL) and really thought I did not want to but it is very early in the book but author has dragged me into a story I did not want to read so that says a LOT IMHO (seems to be a stand alone)
Lockheed Elite

@LAB - I just finished
Lord of Scoundrels just an hour ago and while I would probably give it a low 4* it was not as good as hoped IMHO, the humor was a bit more subdued and the heroine was the bright spot in this book. Still a really good story, just not as good as I had hoped.

I don't try too many new authors in Historical Romance unless one of you folks recommended them but with a synopsis like this there was no way I could refuse to request the ARC I was offered. (does not release until November)
Romancing the Scot"Hugh Pennington—Viscount Greysteil, Lord Justice of the Scottish Courts, hero of the Napoleonic wars—is a grieving widower with a death wish. When he receives an expected crate from the continent, he is shocked to find a nearly dead woman inside. Her identity is unknown, and the handful of American coins and the precious diamond sown into her dress only deepen the mystery."

Decided I needed something a bit lighter I grabbed book 2 of a recommended new series
Relinquished Hood early going is good but there is a bit of a fairy tale prologue that makes me wonder where it will fit in the story at some point.

@LAB - "switch to a different edition" - one of the few things about Goodreads that irritates me sometimes, I have posted reviews on one "edition" and most of the time it covers all of them but sometimes for no discernible reason I have to repost it on another edition.

Well re:
The Trouble with Twelfth Grave another Charlie book, filled with silliness, bordering on stupid at times, a story that kept you off kilter but addicting and the always "WTF just happened?" ending . Think I need to ponder this one overnight before I write a review. BTW that idea about waiting to read the last 2 books (assuming it is ending at book 13) might have some merit, not sorry I read it but REALLY want to know what happens next and it will probably be a long time.

@Randi - Several of us have read the White Trash Zombie books and loved them, I still think she could have done better with the series if she had not gone with the gross covers since it really is a great series, the latest one
White Trash Zombie Unchained is kinda of a series conclusion novel but she says she will be writing again in this world but it might be 2 years or more so she left it in a place where you could end the series if she needs to (said she had too many projects), it really is a great series surprisingly from what I expected.

I did, I have no willpower and love books that make me laugh

You guys are not recommending the 99 cents books here LOL, trying to decide if I want to toss
Lord of Scoundrels into my TBR but at $6 it better be good :)

She does seem to be the master of WTF??? endings :)

Started
The Trouble with Twelfth Grave and if you like this series (as I do) it looks to be great early on but the little chapter heading tidbits still have me laughing

I finished
The Duchess Deal and it was really good and a lot of humor, wish the next book was already out but I am looking over my TBR to see what I should start

It is like losing family :( So sorry

Click EDIT and you can get instant email every time there is a post by choosing "Individual Email"

@Candace - "Is this the last book in this series?" - No but it is changing locations, from all I can gather we are leaving the whole Lakeside cast behind and starting with a new cast of characters , most of whom we have seen a little of plus some new ones in a settlement farther out west and clearly under the control of "The Others"
