222868 I finished To the Duke, with Love and it was really very good and written much better than the first book of this trilogy (last book not out until next summer) and this one will released on 5 Dec but as much as I did enjoy it I am not sure it is worth the $8 they want for it but I think I have gotten a bit cheap on the price of books unless they are exceptional. This was a solid 4 Star story.

222868 I keep hoping that one day MaryJanice Davidson will write something as much fun as those first few Queen Betsy books were (they were the funniest things I ever read) but so far nothing comes close but this is free if you are on KU and I grabbed it but won't be able to get to it for awhile so if anyone cares to read it and give us a hint it would be nice :) It is only about 40 pages and a stand alone it seems.

222868 @Vinity - You know how much I talked about never owning a phone without removable batteries but unless I wanted to pay hundreds of dollars I was pretty much forced to give up my S5 and get the S8 which would have really made me mad BUT the wireless charging and the fact that the new batteries have no "memory" issues (meaning you can charge it even at 70-80%) has allowed me to adapt painlessly since I just set my phone down on the pad every time I am at the computer and it has never dropped below 15% but i DO keep the charging cables in each vehicle just in case :) (of course none of the dozens of old cables fit the new one but they claim this will be the "standard" from now on, yeah right. This little thing has made the charging thing pretty painless for less than $20

222868 @Vanessa - Nell/Occam is a mixed bag of things but I think you will like the way it turns out.

222868 Allow me to state the obvious, after reading Flame in the Dark I am having a really hard time reading anything it was so good (and freakin Alabama lost today so I am in mourning and my damn monitor is dying after more years than I can remember so that eats up about $200 of that $300 my son sent me but i can hardly read this screen it is so dim and has an orange tint LOL)

222868 I finished Flame in the Dark and it was freaking fantastic, Nell is still the most original character I have stumbled across in many years.

I had to immediately grab another ARC as I am behind on my reading but there WILL be NO reading during the Alabama /Auburn game tomorrow :)

Tonight I am reading To the Duke, with Love and hoping it will be better than book 1 of this series Last Night with the Duke which was decent but lacking in writing ability a bit.

222868 Yes, I have serious doubts he will ever live in the states again, his talents are in demand overseas and the money is very enticing, he has gotten to see a lot more of the world than even I did and I saw a LOT of it :)

222868 re: The Passion of Cleopatra I have a hard time giving it a genre since it has a bit of romance, a lot of adventure, mystery and drama (the good kind). reading the two books together would be a great experience I would think. I have to say that between her and her son they have created a great story and it does have a real ending where they can never write another book in this world or they could turn it into a series but with the level of writing here I think a series is unlikely. I have to write a review today and it is going to be hard to do without any spoilers

222868 I have never been a big fan of Anne Rice and read nothing by her son BUT I have to say that the 2 books of Ramses the Damned (the 2nd book The Passion of Cleopatra releases tomorrow) may rank somewhere in my Top 10 of all time, I am 70% through with The Passion of Cleopatra and enthralled and hate to even think of it ending but I have no clue where this story is going and the multiple plots are starting to converge and it is just an amazing story. It IS worth the money IMHO but I would assume it will be available at your library BUT if you have never read book 1 The Mummy spend the $5 first and see if the story captures you before spending the $12 for the 2nd book. I read book 1 years ago but it was so good and multifaceted I still remember most of it (at least enough to keep me from getting lost)

222868 I am only about 45% through The Passion of Cleopatra and it is very good, a bit verbose but not a crime but the ARC has no chapter headings and sometimes makes it harder reading which won't be a problem in the final version but you can see the hand of 2 authors but still looks to be leading up to an exciting climax, there are actually at least 3 or more stories being told concurrently with each moving a bit closer to that date when they will all meet and it is an exceptional bit of writing to write like this and still not lose me. Makes you want to skip ahead but you WOULD miss something in this book if you tried LOL

222868 Well I read both How the Duke Was Won and If I Only Had a Duke and they were really great although the 2nd book dragged a bit in the middle. I want to get right to book 3 Blame It on the Duke but I can't ignore my review backlog any longer sadly so it will have to wait while I know out a couple starting with one I hope will be great but fear I might not even finish The Passion of Cleopatra (this is the sequel to The Mummy which was amazingly exceptional, we shall see how this one does since she wrote it with her son.

222868 I know what you mean, I have been bouncing around a lot in reading but most recently a lot of historical romance. I was offered an ARC of a book that did not look that good but in researching it a bit I stumbled onto this one that DOES look good How the Duke Was Won so instead of a free ARC I shelled out $5

222868 What those above books are good for is when you want a decent book but not one so good you can't put it down to get your work done :) I find them useful LOL

222868 Well I have now read the first 2 books in the "Heroes of Chance Creek" series, plots around some e-mail brides, they fall into that category of not great, not bad BUT just good enough to make you want to read the next one :) Guess I will get it to see what happens. The series ended in 2015 and it must have done well since she milked it for 6 books (only 4 brothers) and the big "thing" that was revealed in book 2 is not resolved until book 5 (which I assume was to be the last book but they tried to milk it one more time). Then spun off another 5 books in a series called "SEALs of Chance Creek" which makes my head hurt when you consider this is a really small place to have all these SEALs running around loose :)

The Soldier's E-Mail Order Bride $3.99
The Marine's E-Mail Order Bride $3.99
