Thanks Vanessa. You know, I sort of miss the heyday of paranormal/urban fantasy when I'd be hanging out for the next book. There were some great series but alas either they are complete, author's have stopped writing them or they've gone on too long. Or I've just moved on from the genre. And a U title is always a bonus when you do spell it out challenges!

222868 Hope you guys are all alright and staying safe in the US.

We are faring a lot better in Australia except for a flare up in our state of Victoria in Melbourne where the lockdown is back in. NSW has only had cases in quarantine for about a week.

I'm not reading much paranormal except for a ghost one Ghost Shadow (Bone Island Trilogy, #1) by Heather Graham . It was a bit light but the history of Key West, Florida was interesting.

I got the Wrexford and Sloane books from our library so maybe you could try at yours?

222868 I love the Wrexford and Sloane series. It's murder/mystery set in the Regency period and has a hint of romance which develops through the series. I love the writing, the way the author describes London it is a character in it's own right. I'd definitely recommend that one.

I haven't read the other series but looking it up now.

Paula, I've been noticing that as well. The cost of books has really, really gone up and even second hand books on Abe.books, when you add in the postage which also seems to have gone up it's not worth it any more. Gone are the days when you could pick up a second hand book for $1 and the overseas postage was $3.00.

Lucky I've re- discovered our library and it's been accessible with home delivery even in the middle of the pandemic.

I actually have read the first one and gave it 3.5 stars. But don't have any recollection of the story. May have to re-visit it.

Thanks Lulu. I have a feeling I've got the first one on my kindle TBR. I'll go have a look.

222868 Sad as it makes me to say... I think I've separated from the Psy-Changlings. I won't say divorce just yet, I'm about two behind so I'll just let it slide for now. I've pre-ordered Archangel's Sun (Guild Hunter, #13) by Nalini Singh , so I'm still invested in this series.

My reading tastes have changed over the last couple of years, I'm really into more mysteries and thrillers now, more story less smexy times. ( Well, except for Brides of the Kindred, my go to space smut. And my beloved BDB, of course). I'm really loving those Regency/Victorian historical mysteries like Veronica Speedwell and Sebastian St Cyr.

I've kindled that... but I still have three Charley's to finish off. Sort of left off this series till all the books were released and then just haven't gone back to them. Isn't she doing the next series when Beep is grown up and Osh is her HEA? Did I read that or just dream that.... can't remember now . Too many series brain.

222868 Thanks for posting that Vanessa. It was interesting to get a writer's perspective. It made me think, when I start a series I do expect it will get to the end especially if it has cliff hangers and in a reasonable time. If I knew before hand that a series was left hanging I probably wouldn't start it. But that's just me I guess.

222868 I finally got my copy of A Murderous Relation (Veronica Speedwell, #5) by Deanna Raybourn from the library. It is all bright and shiny new, I am the first person to check it out. Yay.

222868 So I finished the latest Cassandra Clare. Chain of Gold (The Last Hours, #1) by Cassandra Clare . After the last trilogy I wasn't sure I was going to keep reading these, as per our previous discussions. Well, this one was a much better crafted book although again these books are so long and really there is a lot of waffle in them. The things we objected to in the last book were toned down a lot and weren't such an issue in this one. But overall not as good as The Infernal Devices which was the stand out trilogy in this world IMHO.

I'll probably keep reading, we'll see.

222868 I've done a bit of sleuthing.. okay googling and accordingly to Deanna Raybourn's Q & A on Goodreads there are at least two more Veronica books in the works. Yay.

I'm actually in NSW... and we're on semi hold still. Seeing all overseas travel is off till who knows when I'd really like to do one of my Aussie bucket lists instead this year, Uluru. So I'm hoping those border restrictions are lifted as well. It must be really terrible for people with loved ones in other States. But we really have a lot to be thankful for in relation to other parts of the world.

And hope there is more Veronica Speedwell as well.

222868 Vanessa, I'm looking forward to reading, is it the final Veronica Speedwell? I'm first on the list when my library gets it. I've been trying to cut down on my book buying lately, as you can all relate it's been getting out of hand.

And our libraries are fully opening with social distancing on June 1. Yay, yay, yay.

Hope all goes well for you guys in North America as things slowly open again. Keep staying safe everyone.

222868 Good question - TINNGG. Although our reading tastes to develop/change over time there is a definite question of whether some authors let successful series go on too long causing reader burn out. It is a real skill and difficult I guess for an author when their books are successful and profitable to go with "leave them wanting more."

222868 LAB... you're a star.

A couple of times on Goodreads the author has liked my review of their book. Must say it does feel good. And my daughter txted me the other day all excited because she posted a review and the author liked it and started following her reviews. It is a nice plus for Goodreads, the positive author interaction with readers.

222868 Vanessa, yes, I think the Psy Changlings are on the way out as well but I'm still hanging in there with Guild Hunters/Archangels. Over the last couple of years my tastes have changed maybe it's an aging thing but I'm reading a lot more widely and not as much romance driven or paranormal.

I just finished this one which was a five star read - November Road by Lou Berney . It's a character driven road trip book with lots of different threads but the background is the Kennedy Assassination/mob connection. One of those books you think about for days after reading it.
