222868 Thanks book buddies! We had a stressful 2019 and hoping for a more restful 2020.

And Yes, Vanessa, isn't this the final Veronica Speedwell? I'm hoping for a very romantic scene with Stoker when they admit their feelings for each other.. and a bit of smut wouldn't hurt either, LOL.

222868 Happy New Year all.

We've started with a bang, fires threatening our farm, one outlying one burnt out but people safe, and that is everything.

Hope it's a good reading year with lots of new discoveries and happy reunions with authors we love. What books are we eagerly awaiting this year? I'm looking forward to the new Karen Moning arc of the Fever series mid year.

Ah yes, Vanessa, know the feeling. My husband had a major health scare this year and hopefully will be okay but it certainly puts things in perspective.

I'm reading... Where Winter Finds You (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #17.5) by J.R. Ward . Good to finish the year with a favourite author ( Shhh, Douglas..)

Hope everyone has a good end of year and here's hoping for a happy 2020.

222868 Oh that's tricky, Happy. Look on the bright side, you'll be well and truly ready to retire when it finally happens and another year's salary to enjoy. Everyone seems to have to work longer now, I'm lucky I'm in a family business so at least can be flexible with working hours and holidays.

She posted an apology to her readers on Facebook. Whatever she thought she was doing it certainly backfired on her.

222868 From an outsider's POV, your health care system looks really complicated and scary. Ours isn't perfect but it seems to work okay. We have Medicare which is government run and supported by a levy from Taxpayers but does provide basic health care for all. Then you can pay into Private Funds which is very expensive but does cover private hospitals. I've had a lot to do with it this year with several family members being not well and despite the dreaded paperwork haven't had too many issues.

222868 So sorry to hear about your sad losses. It is quite a shock when loved ones pass so quickly after a diagnosis. My Mum died exactly two weeks after I took her to the Doctors having to nearly beg to put her in hospital. It was apparently a very virulent lung cancer that none of us had any idea about. The shock is immense. At the moment my very dear MIL was diagnosed with cancer this time last year and she has just entered full time nursing care. She had her 90th birthday in August, it is what I call, " The long goodbye", and we all treasure the time we have been able to spend with her and come to terms with it.

Yes, Lulu that is spot on. I read just about anything now but only stick to my true loves in PNR (I won't annoy Doug by naming them, hee hee..). I've really branched out into the murder mystery/thriller genre at the moment where romance is only a part of the whole picture.

I'm really enjoying reading some of Kelley Armstrong's non PNR work. Rockton and Nadia Stafford. I haven't read any of her Paranormals and probably won't. I think I'm just burnt out on the genre. Oh but I still enjoy the odd historical romance. I have the new Julie Ann Long series which Doug recommended to get into soon.

That's great news! Hope your son continues to improve. After 3 months away I'm sure you're so glad to be home, cleaning duties and all.

I must get to those. They are sitting on my TBR looking sadly at me... A case of too many books, too little time.. sigh.

TINNGG - continued thoughts to you and your family. At least it seems positive news. All the best.

222868 Vanessa... I just finished watching Carnival Row! I really liked it and thought the two leads, Orlando Bloom and Cara Delavingne were really good. They've all signed up for another season to be released next year. It's got an edgy steampunk type of feel to it, I think most paranormal readers would enjoy it.

222868 Thanks so much for posting the fab photos.

I'm back reading Charley, Eleventh Grave in Moonlight (Charley Davidson, #11) by Darynda Jones after a bit of a break. I'm going to try and finish the series.

I stopped reading this series when she had the big break. I wonder if there is going to be a definite end to the series, I can't remember, Lulu was there an arc that needed to be concluded other than the HEA's of the heroes? I guess it makes perfect sense for her to move on with another name after the acrimonious divorce.

222868 Thanks for giving us the update. We are all only wishing you all the best and so glad you have found a comfortable place to reside while treatment is going on. One foot in front of the other, each day is one day closer to the completion of treatment and road to recovery.

222868 RE Bluebell's HEA... I don't think NS would go down the reincarnation route again either. I think it will be someone that will come out of left field, nothing like his mortal who he has pined over for eons but a girl who will knock his socks off, so to speak. Make him realise that the first girl was in fact puppy love and this is the real thing.

As long as it isn't with Aodhan I'll be happy.

Oh me too! I have nothing against MM romance and do read it on occasion but it wouldn't ring true to the characters if they are suddenly revealed to be lovers and not best friends.

And I'm sorry to read that the latest Juliet Marillier is really YA. I loved Blackthorn and Grimm as well but apparently her publishers didn't want her to write any more in this series. Which is such a shame. It was just lovely writing and story.
