222868 Yes, I did read it. It is set in the BDB world but has a separate story from what is going on in the series proper with characters we may or may not see again. I've seen some reviews that readers didn't really connect with it but I enjoy Ward's storytelling so I still liked it.

222868 That sounds like a good story, Vanessa. You know I don't think I've read any of that author, I may have to try that trilogy when the mood for some purple prose (view spoiler) LOL.

222868 Vanessa, I've been reading some older Sandra Brown's from back in the 80's when she wrote romance I consider "bodice rippers". You're right about what was considered "alpha male" and masculine back then, by today's standards would be abuse. I used to read this stuff all the time when I was a teenage girl and to be honest never thought too much about it. Now when I'm reading I have a completely different view of it. I'll still read them but with a view that they are a product of a different time and sensibilities.

Hello! Good to see you back. I've ordered a copy and it should be on it's way.

I was bit iffy about the ending of the last book IIRC. (view spoiler) . With that title I thought this latest book might be the end of the series?

And this is why if I love a book/series I still buy it in paper. Isn't there somewhere in the fine print of e-books that you only pay for the right to have it in your e-library with say Amazon but you don't actually "own" the book? Wow, in the unlikely event that Amazon closes their ebook section I'd probably be able to get enough refund to put a deposit on a house as we all would, hee hee.

Good to know Doug, I've got it upcoming on my TBR. I was a bit disappointed with the new Elizabeth Hoyt so encouraging for you to recommend the JAL.

222868 Why are those Kelley Armstrong books so expensive? To buy a new book here in Australia was about $16. I just bought a good second hand copy on Abe books for $9.20 AUD and that's including the postage.

222868 Douglas, that's one of the reasons I decided to go with the expensive oasis. It's got wifi and 3g (the only one available in Australia that has both) and also has page turning buttons which I prefer to swiping.

Once I get a bit more used to it I'll come back and let you know what I think and whether it's worth the hefty price tag.(IMHO)

But to be honest I still prefer reading a good 'ol fashioned book!

222868 Hi gang,

Thank you for your comments about new kindles.

I bought an Oasis, I guess I was lured in by all the features that I probably won't use, LOL. Boy it was expensive, I just hope it lasts as long as my trusty kindle keyboard, sniff..

I'm a creature of habit.. I hate having to learn new devices. Already I'm wishing I still had my old kindle. But I guess I'll get used to it with time.

222868 I finished Ocean Light (Psy-Changeling Trinity, #2; Psy-Changeling, #17) by Nalini Singh and actually enjoyed it more than the previous Psy Changling Trinty books. The Black Sea Changlings were something a bit different and the use of over the top adjectives seemed to be a bit less in this one. (I've been having trouble with this aspect of her writing style lately). Also noticed the love scenes were toned down quite a bit.

Squid and octopus changlings… the mind boggles, LOL.

3.5 stars

222868 I've read them both as well Douglas but I'm not one to ask because skipping books in series is like pulling teeth for me. But I did like Marrying Winterbourne better.

222868 Oh me too, Vanessa. I actually feel for her it must be a big pressure to keep living up to reader's expectations. And with social media and readers and writers more connected some people don't hold back with criticism. Not always constructive or warranted.

222868 Vanessa, when I was visiting your country last year I was fascinated by your airports, with so many States and places you can go domestically there is such a hive of activity. And all the people waiting for standbys, upgrades, weather delays and missing connections. It made the waiting time go so fast watching everything. We flew out of National in DC a fairly new airport and the architecture to look like a vintage terminal was impressive.
