I've been in a weird reading mood. Mixing light fun contemporary romances
The Aussie Next DoorLevel UpThe Right Swipe with more normal fare - but on the light side -
Touched by an AlienAlien Tangoand a few goofy ones as well
Off to Be the WizardStarship GriftersAnd of course
Sapphire Flames - love love the Baylor family - my book blahs/hangover after this one is what has lead me down the light and silly path
TINNGG ..."Sending good thoughts, wishes and prayers for the best possible outcome.

This book,
Ridorkulous, was a cute NAish romance two students get kicked out of their living situations and compete -literally - for the same room. The competitions and the other housemates are fun.

I just finished
The Best Thing, overall I liked it. I can see why some people had problems with it though. The leading lady starts put so angry and cusses a great deal. She has a very good reason to be angry, but it takes a bit to connect with her because of it. So the beginning and the ending were rough. I generally don't seek out books that make me cry.
I am also on the 3rd book of my Scarlett bernard re read in audio.

I am finally reading
Wolf Rain - yay for the library, I'd forgotten about Overdrive kindle loans. I also just finished
Karma, which had an interesting setup, but a somewhat underwhelming delivery - might have tried the second if it were KU to see if the series improved as it went, but then again reviewer were unhappy with book 3.

I am a bit stressed with work right now ( but will get a little break with a belated bday trip to vegas with my sisters this weekend). So I am doing my stress thing which is hiding in a book and am doing a book a day right now and a mix alternating rom com and uf ish books.
I read a couple cute ones by Lila Monroe (
Cupids Anonymous was one) and then hit one that was a mess of drunken vegas sexfest that was just too much sex and stupid and not enough fun - the hangover inspired I suspect.
On the more uf-y side, I read something off my hubby's tbr pile
Ghosts of Gotham which kept my interest the whole way though - a journalist who debunks magic and miracles is pulled into a mystery that exposes him to real woo woo stuff - there is some gruesome stuff but also a touch of romance. It was KU and either standalone or the first in a series, but the author has acouple other series i plan on checking out.

I finished
Storm of Locusts, the lead Maggie has really come into her own. She started out almost unlikeable in the first book - which is part of the audible $5 sale right now btw. I thought both books were really good storywise, with only a small nit for quick resolutions - not unsatisyingly so, just that it would have been nice to have had a bit more in the finals battles.
Vanessa wrote: ".."Hillariously, Ever After had quite a few good stories - I was already a Penny Reid fan but it lead me to the rest of the Susannah Nix books about heroines in Science, Tech, Engineering and Math careers. I liked the smart and occasionally nerdy women almost as much as I like smart slightly nerdy guys in romances.

Vanessa, a couple hours early but happy birthday:)

I finally finished
Protect the Prince in audio - it's taken me a long time since I haven't been alone in the car during my normal listening time for the last two months since my daughter had an internship and we've been car pooling, but she's done tomorrow so I will be able to start a new book. Anyway, I really like the series and am looking forward to more.

There is a second one out now from the same author:

I know someone else mentioned
Trail of Lightning, i just finished it and thought it was good - all the pieces of Navajo (Dine) myth in a post apocalyptic world where those myths are part of real life now. This is now on KU.
Douglas wrote: "Am I delusional? I thought I saw someplace that if you had bought the DTB version of a book in the past you could get the Kindle version cheap or free now?? I was wanting to get [book:Grave Witch|7..."When I searched for Amazon matchbook i got this link
https://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/ep-...?
On this page there was a button to click to search for the free or reduced price matches available - It only came up with a few for me but I did a lot of used books i guess.

I haven't had much to share and life has been hectic - I work part time but have been putting in 50 hour weeks for the last month and a half trying to get a project in on time.
But I finished
The Wee Free Men: The Beginning in audio and
Starship's Mage: Omnibus and
Chasing Crazy on kindle so a bit of everything- fun fantasy, sci fi with magic and cute rom com.
Now I am working on
Protect the Prince in audio - very good so far -
And
The Invisible Library on kindle - which is picking up steam with a magic steam tech mystery going on.

I am listening to
The Wee Free Men which is entertaining in audio.
I also did a blast from the past PNR series reread. Eve Silver's Sin series was up on KU briefly. It was sexier than I remembered, but has held up well over time - I remember reading the as they were releasing 9 years or so ago.
Sins of the Heart is the first.

In my search for more UF that's KU, i read all four books out in
the series that starts with
Heart of Malice. They were fairly decent - the mage PI heroine spends a fair amount of time recovering from near death experiences and not all the supporting cast is as well developed as they could be, still the price is right.

Meljean Brook in her Milla Vane incarnation finally has a new book coming out the end of this year
A Heart of Blood and Ashes - it's her barbarians and not Iron Seas, but I am happy to see something from her.
