I know what you mean. I'm a Youth Services Librarian and we do this sort of thing every summer for the neigborhood kids and it is really rewarding for everyone involved in so many different ways.

Katie, talk about bringing back memories. I remember doing that Pizza Hut reading program. Scholastic was a big part of my start in reading and collecting books, too.

22225 Are you taking part in the 2012 Goodreads Challenge?
I am. I amazed myself and actually ended up with 387 books read last year. My goal was just 300. I knew I loved to read, but didn't realize I read SO much as at least a book a day. So this year I am going to aim for 365 and see where I end up. How about you?

JC, since you have read Moby Dick already, you might be interested in this new book that just came out,
Why Read Moby-Dick? by Nathaniel Philbrick. I enjoyed Moby Dick when I read it, but I must say reading this other book I learned some things about Moby Dick that got me to enjoy it a bit more. You might too, and it is a relatively quick read, also.
22225 I guess what people have said here does make a bit of sense, but I still hope that after an author does enough of these novellas and short stories they can combine them into one collection and publish them the old fashioned way, paper-wise.

22225 Added Beauty and the Werewolf (Five Hundred Kingdoms, #6) by Mercedes Lackey to my collection.
22225 Have you noticed any of your favorite authors writing new novellas or short stories but only offering them as ebooks? I have and it is really bugging me. I want to read these new works, keep up on what they are adding to my favorite series' storylines, but I want them as good old paper, real books. I don't like reading on screen so I find I am probably missing out on something because I don't want to download these works. I'm hoping that sooner or later these works will be collected and published the real way, on paper, like I've seen some authors do already. I think I'll wait and see. What's your opinion? How are you handling these situations?
