Just got home from getting one of the best books I have read in years,
When She Woke, signed by its author
Hillary Jordan.

So I ..."Erin, same here. For all newborns I give a collection of Dr. Seuss including Dr. Seuss's ABCs. IMO, all children should be read to from the day they are born and Dr. Seuss is the greatest for bedtime stories since the adults enjoy him as much as the kids.

Don't mean to brag (much) but I reached my goal of 300 books back on Oct. 10th and I am currently at 328 and still going strong. :-)

I'm probably the wrong person to ask about this. I'm a non-stop reader, I practically go through a book a day. The goal I set for myself was 300 books, and I reached it on Oct. 10. I'm currently at 328 and still going strong. The way I went at the challenge was I set a goal I was pretty sure I would achieve easily with the way I read, I actually am a bit more interested in seeing how far past it I can go by the end of the year. :-)

When I give gifts, I like to give giftcards for book stores. Everyone can find a book they would like to read and this way they will be sure to get a book they would like rather than me having to worry about picking one out for them.

Hope you had a good Samhain and a fun Halloween. Now share what treats you get in November.

Michelle, you probably have if its possible, but just be be sure, have you looked at your public library to see if they have any book clubs?

I got one of the best books of 2011, IMO:
. I also got
.
delivered from Amazon.

I do have a book buying budget that I keep track of on a spreadsheet since I have many authors, titles, and series that I want to be sure to buy. This way I can plan ahead and see when their books are going to be coming out and make sure that I have the money to get them. Also, any gift money or spare change I get I often throw into my book fund. Fortunately, it usually works out that planning this way I always have the money I need for planned purchases as well as for spur of the moment and just came across buys. And anything left over I can then use for food or clothing if I must. ;-)

I've got enought books on my TBR list that I'm not going to waste time on any book I've started that I'm just not enjoying. I can always go back and try it again some other time, but if I feel like I am fighting my way through it it is just not worth it. I've got a special shelf on Goodreads for books I could not finish so that I can maybe go back and try them again some day.

Half the time you see his name on a book with someone else's, you know that he basically provided a pat on the back and his name so that it would be a bestseller. Thanks, but I'd prefer to read something that the listed author actually wrote, not a book factory with a fancy name."I know what you mean! If I am going to read a book by an author, I want it BY THAT AUTHOR! Not just because the person's name is on the cover. I really detest authors like Patterson and Clive Cussler because of this.

Another delivery:

I probably spend a couple hours per day here, Goodreads is one of my regular visits each morning and then I usually check on things when I get home from work also as well as dropping in from time to time while at work since Goodreads has become one of the resources I use at work, lucky me. :-)
