Rita, I do the same for the same reason, but I also keep track of my in-store purchases as well.
As you said, we're halfway through the year. So far I've spent a little over $900 dollars. I'm pretty much right at the pace I thought I would be to end up with spending $1800 for the year. Time will tell.

Erin, unfortunately that idea isn't perfect, but more often than not, kids who are read to from the day they are born and are encouraged to read when they are just learning how to read for themselves do tend to stay readers as they get older.

22225 Paula, you are definately not alone. IMO, it makes no sense to buy books you plan to get rid of anyway, may as well check them out of the library for free if that were the case. We book buyers tend to be book collectors as well as book readers. My library has grown to about 5000, 1/3 of that nonfiction for reference, 1/3 fiction I have read, and 1/3 fiction I have for the one day I might want to read it.
