Baby, can you dig your man?"I have that song stuck in my head, and I don't even know what it sounds like!

Yes! I have been looking forward to a really involved discussion in this group. We did pretty good with Lord of the Flies, but I found myself singing "All By Myself" a lot while I was reading War and Peace.

I have both, but I am sticking with the unabridged for now!

I thought it would be cool if there was a version where the differences were highlighted with notes in the margins.

I really enjoy meeting a large cast of characters spread all over the country and then getting to watch what brings them together.

I read to page 11, but there were several pages of prologue all numbered with Roman numerals. I felt like I was doing pretty good and then noticed I was only on page 4!

Yes! We have some takers! :)

So glad to be able to join in a discuss this!"Yes! The more the merrier! I have been meaning to read the Unabridged version - I read the Abridged more than 20 years ago!

Discuss the section of The Stand "The Stand" here.

Discuss the section of The Stand "On The Border" here.

Discuss the section of The Stand "Captain Trips" here.

Please feel free to have general discussion about The Stand here. Please mark spoilers. I will be creating folders for the specific sections - that will allow everyone to read at different paces and still discuss. This is a big one so it will need the section discussions.

I have noticed a lot recently where Hollywood waits to make movies about things until years after they were at the height of their popularity. While Ender's Game is already a modern classic, we did not see it on the big screen until last year.
I thought the same thing about Angry Birds. I am guessing that people still play it, but I was surprised they did a movie now and not 4 or 5 years ago when it was super big.
I wonder why the wait on these things? I suppose with Ender's Game the special effects are better now than they would have been if they made it when the book first came out . . .
I need to go and read up on the movie trivia and see if they discuss why they waited.

Wow! We are getting close to a 3 - possibly 4 way tie! These group polls are awesome - I love to see the diversity of interests!
