I am about 50 pages in and the wordplay is fun.
I am guessing it was not controversial at the time, but I wonder how people feel about the Giant opinions on people from different countries. I know that they are meant as a joke, but in this day and age of PC, people are easily offended by such things.

I feel like they are setting up a romance here, but that is a bit odd since she has a husband "back home"
Also, I am interested in the fact that Frank's ancestor is being set up as a "really bad guy"

Just finished part 1 - enjoying more than I thought I would!

Okay - so maybe there were some sexy-fun-times in what I read last night. Might be some romance elements after all!

Books with One Word Titles - November 2016 Poll.
Thought it would be fun to look through the lists for a random assortment of books with one word titles (and no "The"). I tried to find all new books that have never appeared in any of our polls before. Lots of selections to start with, but, as has been my usual plan, any books without votes after the first 24 hours will be removed from the list.
Voting will last through October 25th. Please come and vote even if you do not plan to join in - it is just fun to see what everyone wants to read.

After completing the unabridged version, my vote lies firmly in the abridged over unabridged column.

My review - covers both abridged and unabridged:
Matthew's Review of The Stand

This Third section is the best section. You can probably read all of part One, skim part 2, and all of part 3 and enjoy it just as much!

I have gone many years thinking this was a romance novel . . . but, within the first 30 pages there was at least one opportunity for a hot and heavy scene and the author just skimmed past it. So, maybe I have had this book all wrong.

Read the first couple chapters or so over the past couple of days. Nothing exciting so far, just setting things up it seems. I don't really know anything about this book so not sure what to expect.

Did manage to get a copy. Will read soon!

I am always ready to keep discussing! :)

Having a hard time finding a copy of this available at the library. Guess with the recent movie it is a popular checkout right now.

This folder is for general discussion about Outlander - Oct-Dec 2016. Topics breaking the book down into sections will be added later.

This definitely didn't do much for me - here is my review:

Moot - well said! That just about how I feel!
