So, lack quotation marks - leading conversations with a hyphen. Rachel (who mentioned she will be joining this read later on) does not care for that. Why do you suppose the author did that for this book?

Rachel - the quotation marks thing . . . yeah, The Recognitions is gonna be a problem . . .

I have had the Illuminatus! Trilogy for YEARS! And I mean years . . . pretty sure I bought it in 93 or 94 and I still haven't read it!
The Recognitions is pretty decent so far.

Cool! Yeah - I will be interspersing it with other books so it will probably be a week for me.

Lots of description interspersed with anecdotes. But continues to be amusing and readable. (Monkeys are always funny!)

The first chapter definitely has a feel similar to the beginning of the movie. Willis played "Leland" well.

"He'll see you at the terminal" Ha! Leland is a bad ass - as is to be expected!

Today sometime probably - trying to de-Christmas the house and it is taking forever! (but, Nothing Lasts Forever! ;) )

But, we make up for that with a Matthew McLean in the buddy read! ;)

Buddy read including Rachel, Matthew, and anyone who wants to join!
Start 2017 off right with
Nothing Lasts Forever by
Roderick Thorp - the book the movie Die Hard is based on.

I am also not sure how long it will take me to get a copy!

I have only dona a couple of them before, how do you prefer the format?

I read this a couple of months ago, but I will join in the discussion.

So far very readable. I get worried when going into a big classic novel that it will be tough to get into. Still getting to know the characters. Might take a few more days to get fully invested.
TheLongWait wrote: "Indeed, lol. What do you think so far?"So far, I have read the intro. Lots of talk about Finnegan's Wake, which is a bit scary . . .
TheLongWait wrote: "I will be re reading bits and pieces along with everyone. Looking forward to everyone's thoughts"How did I know you would be the first to comment on this thread!? ;)
