I think the scale can be a problem if there are several great topics, I prefer a rank.

This discussion thread is solely for your progress (book discussions go in individual threads).
What did you read this week?
Did you enjoy the book?
Do you think the cover gave you a good clue about what was in the book?
Are the book covers usually important when you choose a book?

Did you enjoy the book? Nop, too much melodrama.
When was your book published? 1909
While reading, did you feel it was an old book or not? Yes a little, the sentences were a little too stuffed with adjectives sometimes and there were some old fashioned phrasing. The characterization was more the one expected in a play than in a novel, I don't know if it was done in purpose or if it's an old way to write the characters.

Overall, I'm glad I read it because it's an important classic book from the cultural side. I didn't enjoy it mostly because all the characters are melodramatic. I can understand 1 or 2, but what's the probability all of them are overreacting all the time?
The opera stuff was interesting, now I'm curious about it, but the atmosphere was a little too much glaucous for me and I'm not really interested in romance, which was the main point of the book.

We can have a more original group name, to avoid the "already used" and a straight-forward description, so people will know what it is about.

The poll will end on June 20.
The next suggestion topic will be normally opened the next monday (June 22).

I'm very curious to see the results!

Can you add the week for your book (edit your post and choose the week in the list) or tell us the week so a mod could move the thread? Thanks!

A new moderator would be nice. If you're interested, just rise a hand here or send me a PM so we'll have an idea who is available.
Requirements:
- having free time to check the group at least once a day (you can have holidays of course)
- having more than 75 messages posted in this group
- being comfortable with computer and Goodreads features
What you will have to do:
- edit titles
- add books to the topics
- move topics, close duplicate ones, etc
- be friendly/helpful with people
- find wonderful ideas for new polls

The purpose of this group is to read and discuss books, not to do advertising.
However, some authors want to find new readers and we have no problem with that. Just keep in mind that everybody isn't interested and that spam is not authorized (posts will be deleted).
You can introduce your book in this folder, creating a new topic.
Thanks

For the author with your initials, it will be (a little) easier to pick just 2 of them. I suppose PM could be ok. I don't know about him, but his ratings are ok, so try to check some of his titles: Paul Magrs (Lost on Mars seems nice). You can search for other authors here: http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/m/
You have lots of great books on your list, I'm sure you'll have fun while reading them :)
