152301 What was your reading goal for 2015? Did you accomplish it?
136 books, finishing the Popsugar reading challenge, catch up a little in fantasy and discover new authors. All accomplished :)

What was your favorite book (or books) of the year?
Hollow World without hesitation, but I discovered some other gems (Seraphina, Les Fiancés de l'Hiver, Uprooted, Fairytales for Wilde Girls, Little Robot...).

What was your least favorite book (or books) of the year?
The Magicians without hesitation. I'm glad it was en ebook, if not I'd have burnt the book :p

Who was your favorite character (or characters) of the year?
Pax (Hollow World), Thorn (La Passe Miroir), Royce & Hadrian (Riyria), Valyn (Unhewn Throne), Four (Divergent), and probably others I don't have in mind for the moment.

Who was your least favorite character (or characters) of the year?
All the characters in The Magicians and in Maze Runner!

What was your favorite book cover (or book covers) from this year?
The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner The Emperor's Blades (Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne, #1) by Brian Staveley The Providence of Fire (Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne, #2) by Brian Staveley Bird Box by Josh Malerman Uprooted by Naomi Novik A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

Which book surprised you most this year?
Fairytales for Wilde Girls (confirmed that this kind of subject is a therapy for me) and Hollow World because doing something else than reading it was painful

Did you discover anything new about your reading tastes?
The biggest surprises were probably Big Little Lies and Eleanor & Park, I usually don't really enjoy literary fiction.

Do you have any reading regrets this year?
The Magicians? Nothing else comes to my mind.

What is your reading goal for 2016?
Over 200 books, tackle Gaiman's work, tackle Ness' work, finish the 2016 AtY challenge, complete an A-Z, increase my knowledge in dystopian books and have fun!

152301 Hi Barbara :)

You can find the 2016 group here:
https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
You'll find all the informations and the list of categories in "Mod Corner" there.

152301 It's nice you liked The Paper Magician! I enjoyed the sample but the last time I checked the book page, the reviews were horrible, so I wasn't sure I wanted to really read it. I'll keep it in mind :)

152301 Yey! Congrats :)

Norwegian Wood and The Stand are on my 2016 TBR, it's nice to see 5 stars.

I see that you had fun with all the Avatar graphic novels! I preferred the animation series, but the comics were nice too! At some point I need to watch The Legend of Korra :)

152301 Congrats :D

You have to tell us your favorites :)

152301 I second Where the Wild Things Are for bad reviews. For the movie week, many children's books can fit, so it can be a good option for this category (Jumanji, The Three Robbers, How To Train your Dragon, The Giver...).

152301 It's funny to ban an award winning book. The subject seems interesting and it's a classic!

152301 Good idea to finish with Big Little, have fun :D

152301 I haven't try Hill for the moment because I'm not a fan of horror, but enjoyed a lot King as a teenager. I've to re-read my favorites to see how I like them now.

152301 Congrats Keri :)
I'm amazed by my overall reading too, I probably never read so many stories in a year! The funny thing is that I now need to push myself to watch a tv show or a movie, because I prefer to read!

152301 As you wish :)
Creating the plan is half the fun for many of us (some started before having the full list!), but no obligation. You can fill the plan while reading, just think about adding it, so we'll see your progress and which books you read in a same page. You can also use it as a "journal" to share what you enjoyed or disliked all along the year.

152301 Maybe in other Goodreads groups! We preferred choosing the new categories with all the group as we didn't know what Popsugar wanted to do for 2016 or if the categories would be interesting! Some members in our new group will do the 2016 Popsugar Challenge as a secondary challenge, it's a shorter one as you only need to read 41 books.

152301 Welcome Valerie!
No problem in joining late as you did the challenge during all the year, but for 2016, we'll have a new 52 challenge with our own topics! This group will be 'closed' and we'll move here: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

152301 Good choice, the Quartet is a nice way to check quickly the trilogy and it's a pleasant read. It won't be too hard to find time to read a graphic novel, you can do it :D

Dec 15, 2015 03:38AM

152301 Yes, I read all the Quartet in like 3 weeks. My favorite was Messenger (the most moving!) and my least liked Son (it was ok, nothing horrible). It's a very good series, but it can be very disturbing when you start the 2nd and don't understand why it's so different! Of course, it makes sense later but many people don't continue the series because of this, which is sad.

I'm easier on myself with my only other challenge, next year will probably be busy all the time as I've more goals!

152301 I loved The Giver and Ender's Game :)
It's nice to see The Martian so high rated everywhere, I'll try to push myself to read it in 2016 (the subject is not really appealing for me).

Have fun with your free reads for the next weeks!

152301 Congrats!

What are your favorite books from the challenge? :)
Dec 15, 2015 02:18AM

152301 Ok, at some point, I'll try another one as R&J doesn't seem the most popular :)
