Did you enjoy it? It was ok but there was too much overacting. I usually don't like classics, so no good surprise here.
Do you usually read plays? I read some adult plays in high school (they were ok) and later some children ones (which I enjoyed) but nothing since years.
Who was your favorite character and why? Juliet, she was sly as a fox at some points :)

Maybe I would have enjoyed it better if I didn't already know the story, if the romance was not a "one dance and 2 sentences and we'll be in love forever" and if the characters were not all overacting (ok, I know, it's a play). Juliet was more likable than what I expected and pretty smart too at some points, which was a pleasant surprise.
I'll try to rewatch the movie or to see if there's a video of the play online, I prefer to watch theater than to read it!

Big Little Lies received a lot of love here!
I read the Adventures of Sherlock too, I'll continue his stories next year as they are not really compelling.
We have the love triangle, it's number 36!

I like the fact you switched between the uncut and the edited version. You're living dangerously :p

Do you think it deserved this second chance? I would have been totally fine if I never finished it.
Why did you abandoned it in the 1st place? The subject (army, war) is a good summary of things I'm not interested in reading about. I bought it because of the author (and a sale) without really looking what the story was about.
Are there books from your plan you abandoned and switched along the way? I finished all my books this year, but I authorized myself to skip a lot, otherwise it would have been horrible. I switched some but before starting to read them.

The Neverending Story was interesting, I liked a lot how the world was built and the stories inside the story. The first and last parts were strong and definitely helped to save the book, because otherwise, I'd no feelings for the characters and some of the adventures were not interesting.
Ruby Red was an easy read and a nice start for a YA urban fantasy series. Nothing outstanding, but there were some good ideas, I liked the characters and it was a pleasant and light read.
Side-reads:
- Books:
Ice, a disappointing dystopia about a stalker and a poor victim woman in a world where winter is coming. Luckily, it was short x_x
Circus Mirandus, a nice children book, with a magic circus, entertaining enough and I liked the characters.
Sapphire Blue (Ruby Red #2), a nice sequel, less interesting than Ruby Red but entertaining.
Emerald Green (Ruby Red #3), a nice conclusion, but too much flat and boring for my tastes, the previous books were better.
- Graphic novels/manga:
Injustice: Gods Among Us, Vol. 2, less good than the first. The parts with the "less important heroes" were great, the parts with Superman and Batman lacked a good scenario.
Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return, less good than the first too, as I'm not interested in the drugs, etc, as center of teenagers' stories. Otherwise, it was interesting (and sad) to see the evolution of life in Iran.
Hana-Kimi, Vol. 1, I totally worship this series, so seing it in my GR timeline made me want to re-read it :p
-Picture books:
I decided to catch up a little with Dr Seuss so I read Scrambled Eggs Super! (didn't like) and Horton Hatches the Egg (liked it very much!).
I discovered The Boy series and read Lost and Found (lovely and cute), How to Catch a Star (nice but too much false on the scientist side for me) and The Way Back Home (nice too).
The Giving Tree, I'm not always comfortable with the topics chosen in picture books, but it's the first time I totally disliked one.

Did you enjoy it? Yes and no. I'll say I enjoyed the book building and the world building but not the adventures and characters.
Did you "buy" this book in 2015 or before? Yes, in 2015 when I discovered the gorgeous french edition (I read the book with the real cover and drawings at the beginning of each chapter and little dragons around the page numbers).
Is there another title waiting on your shelves since a long time? 4-5 books (from 2015). I tried to fit some in my 2016 challenge :)

Things I totally enjoyed: the stories inside stories, the first and last parts and the unusual darkness. The world building was quite interesting too, with plenty of things to discover.
On another hand, the middle felt flat and lacked feelings, it was more telling over showing for me, but I understand these adventures were necessary to build Bastian's evolution. Maybe the writing was too much average there, which is sad as some other parts were outstanding!
It was a unique experience, so I recommend the book, but don't expect to be amazed all along the story ;)

Did you enjoy it? Yes, it was different from the movie but it was well done.
Have you seen the tv show? Not yet, just the movies.

If yes, which one do you prefer?

If you read other books this year, you can look if they fit in some of the categories, so you'll check more weeks!
Have fun with your books.

I saw the movie for The Children of Men but haven't read the book, maybe I'll have to add it to my huge to read list :)
