It looks interesting, I added it on my list in may, it's nice to see you enjoyed the full trilogy! :)
I read it for this week, I liked the fact it was short. It's probably a book very interesting for a discussion in a class, there are lots of interesting topics addressed in it. I didn't enjoy the story but the writing was good.
What did you read this week? Animal FarmDid you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list?
I read all my school books, so I picked this one in a list.
Did you enjoy it?
It was well written but I disliked the story. I'll have a look at other books from this author, maybe I'll find something I like more.
Did/do you usually like your school books?
No, they were boring or uninteresting, it was the period I read the least because books weren't fun anymore.
We are halfway done with Week 25, it's time to go back to school. This discussion thread is solely for your progress. (Book discussions go in individual threads.)

No problem with the 5 choices, maybe in a poll we'll have only 3 in the top, if not we'll do a final poll with all the selected suggestions to decide the final ones :)First list added in the 1st post of the announcement topic.
For the moment, I don't really like how it's writen (I never read a memoir before) even if some anecdotes are interesting. I didn't read a lot but I already know that Jobs was a smart kid and a spoiled brat :p
Normally yes, in the original challenge it's "read a trilogy". We separate it in 3 weeks and 3 folders because it's easier to manage :)
French reviews seem good for this book (I checked Amazon and some blogs/articles), but I suppose they are from readers who usually like this author as it's an old book! Because of this, for me, it's not really a book with bad reviews, it's more a book you disliked.
It was fun to read your rant :D For the scientific part, I agree, some research could have help to write something more accurate on genetics. It was my main problem with the 3rd book because I couldn't understand their point of view (which is a bit of nonsense when you know genetics).
For the characters, I'd no problem with Tris during the series, she grew as a character and adult. She overreacted a lot in the 2nd book, but she had problems to talk about what she felt and the events were really difficult, so I can understand that.
Four in another hand... I think there were 3 boys named Four in this book. I liked how he was mysterious, strong and gentle in the 1st, was not really interested by him in the 2nd and he behaved like child in the 3rd... It was disappointing a lot for a main character.
As the supportive cast was shallow all the series, I didn't care about them.
I didn't like the ending but I found it was well done and brave to take this path. Maybe it's the only original thing in the series :D
Yes, there are some deaths in The Giver, it's a dystopia, not an utopia ;)I don't think a medical death is "violent", it's very different from violence in fights.
If you have problems with this one, just keep going! I usually don't read all the descriptions, they are too heavy and not really lnteresting in the 1st book so I skip lots of pages. 2nd and 3rd books are way more interesting and well paced. The 1st movie was really good from my point of view, the first thing I thought was "yey, they took away all the boring stuff!".
Yes, Divergent series is heavy on violence and deaths. I think it's usual in dystopias, when there are fights/survival involved. I find The Giver and P.O.W.ER nicer for young readers.
At 25%. So far, it's perfect. There are 2 sides in the story, from a pre-apocalyptic point of view and from a post one. There's a prophecity which adds an interesting atmosphere, and the pre-events feel really realistic (I want to go buy some canned foods). For the moment, it's the better apocalyptic story I read, I'm interested in the characters and there are some perfect sentences! I hope it will continue like this all along the book :)
