For members, they have to log in with their Goodreads password before posting in the group, so it can be pretty annoying if you're often active.

(if they keep the group to do a 2016 Popsug, I hope they'll find another person with motivation/time to run it all the year, because it won't be me :p)
I sent a MP some days ago to the creator to see if she'll be ok with the fact we'll eventually keep and change the group in 2016. I'll tell you if I receive an answer.
I agree with the "clear out the ghost members" but with a new group, there will also be plenty of ghost members, so I'm not sure it's really a point that matters.

I read the 1st part of my 2nd trilogy book (2 books in a Riyria omnibus). I enjoyed the writing again and the new discoveries, but it was focused on a character I don't really like so it was not fully pleasant to read. I'm expecting the 2nd part to be better, as it's not from the same point of view.
I finished my book recommended by my mom, after switching it. The 1st book I chose from her pile of recommended books is very slow and not really interesting in the beginning, so I couldn't see how I'd succeed to finish it within a month. I changed to her favorite thriller (The Hook) and it was a great read! I'm not fond of thrillers, even if I enjoy them once in a while, but I found this really compelling with the suspense and the social background (it's an unemployed man who decides to kill the other applicants to have a new job :D).
I read my book for the school week. I didn't know what to choose for this week, as I read all my scheduled books, so I went for something well known and short. Animal Farm was well written but I really disliked the story (it's all about the current society problems which drive me mad AND some animals behave like bad humans). I'll try other works by this author, as I enjoyed the writing :)
Uprooted... ah.... Uprooted. I'm sad I finished it! There is a lot of magic involved in the book so it was obviously perfect for the magic week. And it's a perfect book with interesting characters, a story mastered, a suspense all along the book, a great atmosphere, etc. I'll never have enough words to tell how good the book is. I didn't really care about the characters and the talks were managed in a strange way for me, so it won't be a 6stars, but I highly recommend it for all fantasy/fairy tales lovers :)

I didn't find the story outstanding. I liked a lot the creepy atmosphere in the first part but the 2nd part was really average for me, so I didn't jump in the 2nd book (maybe later).

There's a policy on Goodreads for the fact of removing a mod or a creator when he's not interested in a group anymore, if someone is ready to take the place. So except if the creators are not ok to let the group opened, I think it won't be difficult to stay here :)
A poll could be a nice idea, if there is a real participation (for the moment, we have less than 100 votes per poll).

- they'll release a tv show for it in 2016 and I liked the trailer
- it's about magic and magic is interesting
- it has something like half bad ratings (1-3 stars) and half good ones (4-5 stars)
- the 5 most liked reviews on Goodreads rated it 1 or 2 stars
- one of my friends gave it a 1 star rating, another couldn't finish the book
So overall, I think it fits well for this week :)
Summary:
Like everyone else, precocious high school senior Quentin Coldwater assumes that magic isn't real, until he finds himself admitted to a very secretive and exclusive college of magic in upstate New York. There he indulges in joys of college-friendship, love, sex, and booze- and receives a rigorous education in modern sorcery. But magic doesn't bring the happiness and adventure Quentin thought it would. After graduation, he and his friends stumble upon a secret that sets them on a remarkable journey that may just fulfill Quentin's yearning. But their journey turns out to be darker and more dangerous than they'd imagined.
Gosh, I didn't read the summary before choosing the book and... now I want to run away. I don't know about the book, but the summary is bad :D

I read The Hook (a thriller), after putting away the 1st book my mom gave me (it's a journal, I'll try to continue it, maybe it's better later).
Did you enjoy the book?
Yes, it was really entertaining and I liked the social topics behind the thriller. I'm not really a thriller reader, so I'm surprise I enjoyed this one a lot.
Do you come from a family where people like reading?
Yes, but we have very different tastes, my dad likes SF and history, my mom usually reads fiction and thrillers.

We have few short books categories this year (play, graphic novel, childhood book, read in a day), so it would be nice to try new things, like short story, novella, picture book, poetry... Currently, it's possible to put a short book in some categories but it's not easy because most of the time you can't find a book following the rule + being short + one you're interested in (adult books tend to be around 400p, not 200p, so the choice is limited).
