On the other side, as it was a really short book, I'd plenty of time for side-reads :D
I read two good children books: Fortunately, the Milk (by N. Gaiman) and Howl's Moving Castle (another Ghibli movie), solid 4 stars for both of them, interesting stories, good adventures and characters.
I watched Divergent, with a "As I'll never read the book, I'll watch the movie because I love dystopias" thought and ended really liking it. So I started Divergent, and continued with Insurgent and I'm now on Four, before reading Allegiant. I read 1100 divergent pages in a week... I don't think it's a great series, it's average for a dystopia with nothing really new (a mix of Hunger Games and The Giver) but I really like the characters so it's totally compelling :)
I finished one graphic novel, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight which was ok, and read one urban fantasy short story, Ginga which was nice.
This week is "loved by parent", I've books recommended by my mother and I think I'll need a month to read them, so I started the 2nd book in the trilogy weeks. So far, not surprising, it's good :)

New poll: What week are you looking forward to the most in June? (Ends at June 05)

As I already read Peter Pan in a translated version, I'll try in english this time. It's a good opportunity to learn more about the book and the author, so I chose The Annotated Peter Pan which is really gorgeous. I'm looking forward to read it!

Everybody can dream about a place, elsewhere, he wants to visit. It can be a city, a country or maybe another world! This week, you'll have the opportunity to visit your place, on paper of course, so we hope you'll enjoy the journey.

No books ideas ;)

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?
I added this one when I discovered that the Ghibli movie Arrietty (and an anime I watched when I was kid) was from this book. So, it was on my to-read since january 2013, the month I joined Goodreads!
Did you enjoy the book?
Hu. No. Uninteresting, flat characters, nothing really happens and I'm really not fond of long talks about furnitures. If you want a good "tiny people" story, Toby Alone is thousand times better.
Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?
Since last Saturday, I'm in a Divergent binge reading (it's why I'm a little late here...), so the next is Allegiant.

I enjoyed it more the 1st time I read it (when I was 15), maybe I'm less appealed with shabby things! Otherwise, I think it's a light King, easier to read than his horror books.

The pacing was nice and the characters were colorful, so even if it's not outstanding, it was a really pleasant reading and I'll read the sequel.
As I don't remember a lot the movie, I'll try to watch it soon to compare it with the book.

The book has pretty high ratings, so I hope you're enjoying it. It's in my to read list but not for the next months.

It could be a nice "antonyms" book!

New poll: What is your average reading time, per week?

July 9 - July 15, 2015
This week is a little challenging as the rule is for the title. You need to select a book named with antonyms (=words with opposite meanings). The title can be about black/white, little/big, dead/alive, north/south, war/peace, etc. You'll find a nice list here , if you're searching some antonyms.

I heard that A Darker Shade of Magic is a great book. I read one of her previous works before and found the idea interesting (but didn't really enjoy the story), so I'm very curious about this one!

I'm looking forward to your opinion on the other (better) books :)

What was the subject of the book? It's about the life of a (privileged) slave woman in the south of the US.
Did you enjoy the book? I didn't enjoy the writing (average), neither the story (because of the privileged parts... good for her, but not really relevant). However, it was interesting to learn things about slavery, I enjoyed this part.
Tell us something true about this story. White people in the south were really cruel (but not all of them), using sadistic punishments and selling adults and children separately without thinking they had feelings.

The parts about what happened to other slaves were really dreadful and I was a bit disappointed by the fact they were written as facts without feelings or real opinion. It's good for a newspaper but a little rude for a book.
Not the most relevant book about slavery but not a bad book either.
