152301 I didn't read a lot for the challenge and, hu, what I read for my "bottom of the reading list" (The Borrowers) was really not what I expected. It was one of the less interesting book from the challenge so far, and I'm really disappointed because I totally liked the Ghibli movie and I usually really enjoy children books. This one was shallow and flat. A cooking recipe would have give me more feelings.

On the other side, as it was a really short book, I'd plenty of time for side-reads :D
I read two good children books: Fortunately, the Milk (by N. Gaiman) and Howl's Moving Castle (another Ghibli movie), solid 4 stars for both of them, interesting stories, good adventures and characters.
I watched Divergent, with a "As I'll never read the book, I'll watch the movie because I love dystopias" thought and ended really liking it. So I started Divergent, and continued with Insurgent and I'm now on Four, before reading Allegiant. I read 1100 divergent pages in a week... I don't think it's a great series, it's average for a dystopia with nothing really new (a mix of Hunger Games and The Giver) but I really like the characters so it's totally compelling :)
I finished one graphic novel, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight which was ok, and read one urban fantasy short story, Ginga which was nice.

This week is "loved by parent", I've books recommended by my mother and I think I'll need a month to read them, so I started the 2nd book in the trilogy weeks. So far, not surprising, it's good :)

152301 May 23: The folder for week 29 is available (a book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit).

New poll: What week are you looking forward to the most in June? (Ends at June 05)

152301 I'm playing a little with the rule this week, as I already read several books about places I'm interested in and wanted a place more on the dreamy side. So, I'll go to Neverland :D

As I already read Peter Pan in a translated version, I'll try in english this time. It's a good opportunity to learn more about the book and the author, so I chose The Annotated Peter Pan which is really gorgeous. I'm looking forward to read it!

152301 Week 29: a book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit.
July 16 - July 22, 2015

Everybody can dream about a place, elsewhere, he wants to visit. It can be a city, a country or maybe another world! This week, you'll have the opportunity to visit your place, on paper of course, so we hope you'll enjoy the journey.

No books ideas ;)

152301 What did you read this week? The Borrowers

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?
I added this one when I discovered that the Ghibli movie Arrietty (and an anime I watched when I was kid) was from this book. So, it was on my to-read since january 2013, the month I joined Goodreads!

Did you enjoy the book?
Hu. No. Uninteresting, flat characters, nothing really happens and I'm really not fond of long talks about furnitures. If you want a good "tiny people" story, Toby Alone is thousand times better.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?
Since last Saturday, I'm in a Divergent binge reading (it's why I'm a little late here...), so the next is Allegiant.

152301 I re-read this one last month (or something like this). It's a little different from the usual King, as it's a fantasy story and the narrator speaks directly to the reader.
I enjoyed it more the 1st time I read it (when I was 15), maybe I'm less appealed with shabby things! Otherwise, I think it's a light King, easier to read than his horror books.

152301 I read it a looooong time ago and enjoyed it. If you like this one, have a look at The Three Musketeers :)

152301 I just finished it (not for the challenge) and enjoyed the story :)
The pacing was nice and the characters were colorful, so even if it's not outstanding, it was a really pleasant reading and I'll read the sequel.
As I don't remember a lot the movie, I'll try to watch it soon to compare it with the book.

152301 Nice choice, I really like the covers for this series :)
The book has pretty high ratings, so I hope you're enjoying it. It's in my to read list but not for the next months.

152301 When you don't find with the title, add the author's name or firstname ;)
It could be a nice "antonyms" book!

152301 I'll read this one too. I hope it's interesting :)

152301 Week 28: a book with antonyms in the title.
July 9 - July 15, 2015

This week is a little challenging as the rule is for the title. You need to select a book named with antonyms (=words with opposite meanings). The title can be about black/white, little/big, dead/alive, north/south, war/peace, etc. You'll find a nice list here , if you're searching some antonyms.

How to Create a Topic:
1. Create a topic in the appropriate folder using your book's author and title (Title by Author, please). Link your book with the "This topic is about" feature.

152301 I read this when I was a young teenager, so I don't remember it. I liked it at this time and it was a really different reading :)
May 15, 2015 01:17AM

152301 Nice list :)
I heard that A Darker Shade of Magic is a great book. I read one of her previous works before and found the idea interesting (but didn't really enjoy the story), so I'm very curious about this one!
May 15, 2015 01:10AM

152301 I'm happy you finally read it and liked it, thanks to the challenge!
I'm looking forward to your opinion on the other (better) books :)

152301 What did you read this week? Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl

What was the subject of the book? It's about the life of a (privileged) slave woman in the south of the US.

Did you enjoy the book? I didn't enjoy the writing (average), neither the story (because of the privileged parts... good for her, but not really relevant). However, it was interesting to learn things about slavery, I enjoyed this part.

Tell us something true about this story. White people in the south were really cruel (but not all of them), using sadistic punishments and selling adults and children separately without thinking they had feelings.
152301 Interesting book but a little too much from a privileged slave point of view for me (she seemed really protected by her educational level and her grandmother's social status). I was not really compelled by her story.
The parts about what happened to other slaves were really dreadful and I was a bit disappointed by the fact they were written as facts without feelings or real opinion. It's good for a newspaper but a little rude for a book.
Not the most relevant book about slavery but not a bad book either.
