Cheating can happen, I did it for some topics when the subject was too much difficult to follow for me :)I didn't watch The Strain but was curious about the idea. I hope the book is interesting!
Hi, there is already a topic for this book on this week:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I finished Parallel, my love triangle, which had plenty of love triangles (argh!). The writing was average and it was heavy on teenage romance and friendship, but the ideas about how small things can change the future were interesting and entertaining. I liked too the parallel worlds thing, it was unusual and well used with the different times.I finished too the 1st book in my 3rd trilogy omnibus, I really liked it better than the 2nd omnibus. It was more balanced and I was more interested in this part of the story. I'm close to the end of the series and I'm happy there are some separated books with the same heroes.
Side-reads:
- book: A Monster Calls, really the sort of stories I seem to enjoy, with a dark side, a touch of fantasy and feelings well described.
- picture book: Le Petit Loup Rouge, a retelling where Red Ridding Hood is a little wolf and there were evil humans in the forest. The art is gorgeous.
- graphic novel: ApocalyptiGirl, with an average story but a nice art.
It was crowded with love triangles!I found the writing average and didn't really care about the characters. Otherwise, the story was interesting with the focus on the fact small events can change the future.
The fact that Not-Parallel 2009 Abby had to deal with the decisions made by Parallel 2008 Abby in the past, which changed randomly her present was interesting and well told with their 2 points of view. The book was heavy on teenage romance and friendship (and lacked depth), but it was entertaining. A nice 3.5 stars for me.
I read it this year and was surprised by the quality. I expected to really feel that it was old, but not really in fact. I'd difficulties to enter the story but, after a moment, the pacing was better and the story more interesting. It was nice to read "THE" time travel book :)
Week 51: a book based on OR turned into a tv show.December 17 - December 23, 2015
Movies and TV adaptations are currently very fashionable, we've already done the movie part, so it's time to try the TV show one. It will be an easy week if you decide to read a book turned into a TV show as there are several ones which are available. Books based on something from the TV can be more risky as these sorts of things are not always well written.
How to Create a Topic:
1. Create a topic in the appropriate folder using your book's author and title (Title by Author, please). Link your book with the "This topic is about" feature.
2. In the body of your post, comment about why you chose this book. Have you read it before? What are your expectations?
3. Feel free to use the thread as a way to update the group on your progress. Also, when you are finished reading, add a small review and your thoughts about the week's challenge.
4. Comment on everyone else's posts as well! Participation and group involvement will make this challenge so much fun!
**If you chose the same book as another group member for the same week, do not create a duplicate thread.**

Week 52: a book you started but never finished.December 24 - December 30, 2015
This is the last category of the year! If there is a book you didn't finish, it will fit very well in this category. We just hope that this book was not enough compelling rather than being really bad. In the case you haven't an unfinished book and have left this topic for the last week, you can pick up a new book.

For the moment, the topics related to series can be used for one series only (we have the 1st, the 2nd and a 0.5 book), it won't be more than the trilogy from this year, but I agree it's enough for a 52 weeks schedule. However I disagree about the "books from series can be fitted in other topics". I read mostly series because I prefer them and couldn't use them for most of the topics.I'm more worried about the "in the title" topics, we have already a lot of them and I would like to choose my books for other reasons than the titles.
I'm at 123/136 (I won't upgrade), which is a lot better than my 55 books in 2014. I'm really happy that I discovered plenty of new authors and books because I'm more active on Goodreads :)
I updated the full list, we have some pretty complementary topics, it will be interesting to put them in order (like a book about books before this number 4).
I think for the 4th, I'll pick a book from Burning Alexandria (it's a short story but I don't mind :p), there are plenty of book references in it.Glad to see the 1st one. The 2&3 will be easy ones.
It's a good batch for me, even if most of my favorites are not there.
The movie is fast paced, has more likeable characters and the decors were great. The way to solve the labyrinth was more interesting in the book from my point of view but I wanted to throw the characters by the window and the discussions were very dull. The differences are big enough so you can appreciate both of them for different reasons (or hate them :p). I don't know which of them to recommend first as I didn't like the 2nd half of the book (and the writing) but found the movie just average.
We are halfway done with Week 34! You finished your trilogy. This discussion thread is solely for your progress. (Book discussions go in individual threads.)
Which trilogy did you read?
What is the title of the 3rd book?
Did you enjoy the book?
How was the trilogy? Is there another series you're very interested in?
Oh, I've to read this one, it's short so I'll try to fit it before the end of the year. Have you seen the movie? (I've not and now I'm curious about it!).
I read it as the side-read this year, it was great, with an interesting way to tell the story and some unusual choices for a paranormal book. I listened the audiobook at the same time, Gaiman is just perfect when he reads!
I found Through the Looking Glass really boring, comparing to Wonderland. Maybe I wasn't in the mood, but the story was not interesting.
I read it in highschool and really didn't find anything in the story. Maybe it will be more meaningful as an adult, I'll try to re-read it (or to watch the new movie).
