There's nothing in my cities, so I can freely choose a book set in my country :D

For the book about books, I suppose there are lists somewhere, so it won't be too much difficult to find what to read :)

This discussion thread is solely for your progress. (Book discussions go in individual threads.)
Which trilogy are you reading?
What is the title of the 2nd book?
Did you enjoy the book?
Which book did you prefer between the 1st and the 2nd?

I read very fast my banned book (I didn't know it was only 48 pages when I selected it). Dahl+fairy tale retelling was a great combination, the poems were grim and there were several good twists. I really enjoyed it and rhymes are always a good thing to increase your knowledge in english pronunciation.
Side-reads:
- book: Dodger, a non-Discworld novel I hadn't read. Good urban victorian fantasy and always a pleasure to read Pratchett.
- Comic book: Lumberjanes #2. Nice but the story interested me less than in the 1st and the pages were a little crowded.

As we have a very very nice french edition, I bought it some months ago and it is waiting patiently on my shelf :)

Summary:
The story begins with a lonely boy named Bastian and the strange book that draws him into the beautiful but doomed world of Fantastica. Only a human can save this enchanted place--by giving its ruler, the Childlike Empress, a new name. But the journey to her tower leads through lands of dragons, giants, monsters, and magic--and once Bastian begins his quest, he may never return. As he is drawn deeper into Fantastica, he must find the courage to face unspeakable foes and the mysteries of his own heart.
It's translated from German, so it can fit too on the "another language" week.

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to read
A book set during Christmas!
Yes, we know, the week is not placed well in the challenge, so feel free to keep the book for the end of the year. You'll read a book full of snow, Santa Claus, food, chocolate, eggnog and presents to open (like chocolate frogs or invisibility cloaks). If you're a Christmas hater or have read ALL the books set during Christmas or like doing things differently, you can choose a book set in another holiday (like... Easter maybe? Plenty of chocolate too, eggs and bunnies?).
Have fun and merry Christmas! OH OH OH :D

There are plenty of books written and published all over the world, but some people tend to read books from their country. This week challenge will take you in another part of the world as you'll have to read a translated book or a book in a foreign language (if you can read it). There will be plenty of choices for non english members, the others will have a more difficult time!

This category can be a little difficult to fill if you don't live in: a big city, in England, in the US, etc. If you don't find a book happening in your city, try your state or country, you may have more luck. Just have a look at the awesome link at the end of the post, to find something if you have no idea.
Don't forget that "hometown" has several meanings and can be the town you were born, or where you grew up or where you live now. It will widen a little your choices if you moved during your life.

For this week, look at your shelves, real or virtual ones, to find a book you own but haven't yet read. If none is waiting for you, just buy/borrow a new book ;)

This week has a very easy challenge, as you just have to choose a book by an author you don't know. There are probably plenty of new authors to discover in your huge to-read list, so just pick up one you're interested in.

But I agree, it's better for the jumpers so it's probably a good idea :)

What is the title of the 1st book? Theft of Swords
Did you enjoy the book? Yes, the writing is pleasant and I love the characters. The 1st book was the funniest, the 2nd had the best atmosphere.
Do you typically prefer series or standalones? I read mostly series, it's nice to follow characters/worlds in several books and I'm quickly bored when there are too many descriptions and explanations, so after the 1st book, the read is usually smoother for me.
