Stacey > The past suggestion topics and votes can be find in this folder:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...For the moment, they are not definitely assigned as we maybe have more topics than 52, we'll see if you need to do a final vote when we'll reach the last poll. It's scheduled for october-november.

Already finished? Congrats! :)

It wasn't too difficult to decide my top4 this time. I've a trickster book to read on my bookshelf (Lokiiiiii) so it was an easy choice! Some others are interesting and not what I usually read, like the elderly person as a main character, so it could be a nice change!

Yes, it's totally a page turner and the story was quite good :)
I enjoyed the fact that there were adults and children, it was a nice change too, with the australian setting!

I recommend Big Little too ;)

Worst, for some, there is no conclusion available because the author hasn't written it yet! I'd this problem with The Dark Tower (Stephen King): when I started it, the first 3 were written, then some time later the 4th and we had to wait 6 years for the last 3 books! I own
The Name of the Wind and haven't started it because the release date for the 3rd book is unknown.
I'm ok with long series if the quality is similar (and good) all along. If not, I'll stop at some point without problem.

We are halfway done with Week 37! You're in the future, jump in your time travel machine and come to answer the post.
This discussion thread is solely for your progress. (Book discussions go in individual threads.)
Which book did you read?Did you enjoy the book? How far were you in the future?Do you think this future is possible at some point?

Nobody chose/changed his/her book(s) after looking in the folders at what other members wanted to read or read for this week?

Yep, I proposed "in the past" as opposed at the current "in the future". There are many books set in the past (classic children books or victorian steampunk for example), I wouldn't put them in historical fiction as the "historical" part is not the purpose of the book but just a background.

Kirin > historical fiction is a genre, which is not the case for a book set in the past (Sherlock, fantasy, romance, time travel, etc, can be used in this category).

Argh, the historical fiction made it. My nightmare came true :p
I'm happy with the other winners, so I'll try to not complain forever.

Welcome! You can use the books you read so far this year to check some of the topics, if you want :)

I see that your ratings are all pretty high. I added the 1st book in my to-read as I don't know the series and really like children books :)

Having only one topic for a book which will be read at different times in the year can be a bad solution if you want discussion. People will join it only when they finish the book (to avoid spoilers) so they probably won't discuss it more later. And it will be difficult to really see what the others are reading for each week and maybe change the book or add one to the reading list.
Otherwise, I agree, having several topics for one book is not the best, but for the moment I'm not sure there is a different option. Other groups for the popsugar reading challenge work in other ways and the last time I checked, the discussions were not better than here.

I haven't read this one, but enjoyed the previous volumes. The story is unusual and the characters too. I agree, the art is great :)

Interesting Michelle, I never heard about it! For ebooks, I use the samples, it gives a good taste of the writing and the story (when I'm not interested in knowing what will happen next, it's a good sign I'll struggle with the book).

The 2016 folder will be available as soon as we have the final list. Now stop planning your list and go to finish your books for the 2015 challenge :p

Usually I abandon books when I'm not interested after the first 50 pages. This year, I'm doing a big effort so I finish these books and the ones I found very boring/bad written but I skip lots of pages :D
So far,
A Clash of Kings,
The Borrowers,
The Magicians and
Ready Player One would have ended in the "DNF pile".

Yes, it's perfect :)

It was a good story, a little too slow for me but the world building is really great. Just take note that it's a trilogy, the 2nd is a prequel (it's great to understand how people arrived there) and the 3rd is the conclusion to the previous books (it links both of them). Each really brings something new in the understanding of the world and the quality is good for the full series.
I'll read another book by Howey for this week, I'm really curious about it :)
