118012 Up to 21284 words... I have been reading a lot of shorter books recently, in order to up my book count (still horrendously behind), so I doubt it will go up majorly by the time I finish this year.

I've surpassed last years page count by over 4000, so I'm happy with that!

118012 How can you do a romantic comedy of it?! Really can't work that out!

I'm actually undecided when it comes to that. I think (view spoiler). I don't know! How about you?

118012 Hi everyone,

The Genre Challenge and World Lit Challenge discussions have been on fire, and have really sorted things out for next year! We've had some amazing ideas and we think it is going to be one of the highlights of 2015!

Now, we really need your help in deciding the genres for our Non-Fiction Challenge ! We've got a big list of genres that we need you to decide on! Please head over to that thread, and just put down your top 12, or if you have any ideas, even better!

Thank you!

P.S. Please don't forget to sign up to our Halloween Readathon coming up! It's going to be an awesome week of mega reading and discussion!
118012 I'll try finish The Shadow of the Wind first, then I'll really dive into it. If I start it properly now, I'll never finish the one I'm currently reading!

118012 I can extend the challenge dates if you want?
118012 I really need to get into this...

118012 I'm a bit of a self-improvement junkie, so to me, self-help books seem like something I'd love to read! Maybe it's just me. :P

118012 We'll remove it, but we can't stop members from using it as part of their criteria for this challenge. However, as you can see, our months are more based around the regions, than the languages. :)

We will however, still allow participants to pick a book based on the language of that region, if they wish to pick their books that way.

118012 Hi Becca,

Your list might be more suited to the October specific thread here!
Oct 11, 2014 11:16AM

118012 Definitely. I'd love for it to have its own category though! Just because it's such a distinct part of literature.

118012 According to my list (see the above spoiler), it comes under Western Europe. But I do agree, it would be great for it to have it's own section, but I don't think we have enough space!

Looking at the list, we could combine Central and South America, and then have Scandanavian Literature.

118012 Okay, based on this image, I've highlighted some countries within each section.

See under the cut. It's a rather long list, so didn't want to take up the whole thread with it!

118012 Overall though, it is pretty spread out.
Oct 11, 2014 10:20AM

118012 We could do 'North-Africa', and 'Sub-Saharan Africa'?
Oct 11, 2014 10:15AM

118012 Where would you split Africa?
Oct 11, 2014 10:12AM

118012 We need an extra month anyway!
Oct 11, 2014 10:03AM

118012 I'm just working out the countries for each section!
Oct 11, 2014 09:30AM

118012 It basically balances on the fact that 'World Literature' is subjective. We could take it to mean a variety of ways (as previously highlighted in this thread), and there's nothing stopping us from incorporating them all and allowing member themselves to decide what they constitute as 'correct' for that months pick.

After all, in other sections of the group, we haven't been overly strict on what people can read for the months etc. It should be the same way here.
Oct 11, 2014 09:27AM

118012 That definitely works. They are probably the two more minor months.

You could even go all out and do a set of horror short stories, or a humorous graphic novel!

118012 Just updated my post.

(On a separate note, this thread is providing me with way too many procrastination opportunities!)
