118012 Definitely. I've resorted to getting a hell load of Shakespeare plays out my uni library. They're short, and it gets me closer to reading all of Shakespeare's works!

118012 I'm so so behind...

According to my calculations, I need to read a book every 2.74 days in order to complete my goal.
118012 I swear you have read everything, Renee!
118012 Vampire novels have definitely changed direction!

After reading this, I really want to check out Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu.

EDIT: Just realised it's only like 100 pages. Definitely reading it for the Readathon!

118012 70. Dracula by Bram Stoker.

Eek! Finally into the 70s!
118012 Note: Just changed this to 'Nov 2014' rather than 'Nov 2015' as it was. Renee, you're clearly getting a bit ahead of yourself with 2015 being so close!
118012 Especially since it is considered the most typical vampire novel of all time.

118012 900 years is definitely a long time!

Interestingly, I couldn't get past the first few pages of The Idiot, but happily sailed through Crime and Punishment (if a book essentially about Raskolnikov's mind can be sailed through...). I think, similarly to Faye, it was my first step into Russian Lit, and it proved to be a very enjoyable one.

I think, once you push through the beginning, and get really into Raskolnikov's character, the book becomes so addictive. Like I literally couldn't put it down. Mum forced it from my hands to eat dinner.

118012 Glad you liked it, Melissa! It's essentially just my rambling thoughts!
118012 Yes, Faye! Re-read for the win!

Was anyone else surprised by how little Dracula was actually in the novel? I expected him to be far more padded out and defined as a character, rather than it being more focused on Helsing's analysis of the species.

118012 We've got a busy month for Non-Fiction in November, so this thread might get a little busy!

I, personally, have no clue where to start with picking books for next month!

118012 I might join you in Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit!

118012 Resists squealing over Crime and Punishment!

I'm really going to try get at least 1 or two Non-Fiction books under my belt in November! I've hardly read any!

118012 Melissa, sounds like you're going to have a great few days reading!
118012 It's definitely been a big hit!

118012 That definitely does sound like a fascinating novel! ;)
118012 And loving the hints of sarcasm and humour, this from Chapter 15:

Dr Seward: I am satisfied that Lucy's body is not in that coffin; but that only proves one thing.
Helsing: And what is that, friend John?
Dr Seward: That it is not there.
