118012 After doing some research about regions, I've found a rather good selection of them:

North America
Central America and the Caribbean
South America
Western Europe
Eastern Europe
Africa
Middle East
East Asia
South Asia
Southeast Asia
Australia & South Pacific

Thinking about it, we could easily combine the two ideas.

We could say that the criteria for each month is: written by an author from that region, a book set in that region, or originally written in one of the regions languages?

118012 I think regions would be good!

118012 We're totally cooking up some ideas!

Just joking. The whole point of these threads is to try get awesome ideas from the members.

I do absolutely love the languages, it provides far more options for months. Then again, I am worried that because it's not so straightforward means members might less likely join...

118012 THE FINAL RESULT IS IN . People have decided to vote to have both the Non-Fiction challenge and the World Challenge for 2015! It's going to be a busy year!

This thread is now only for the Fiction Genre Challenge.

Seperate theards for the World Challenge Discussion and the Non-Fiction Challenge have been set up.

118012 The polls have spoken, and members have decided to vote for both the Non-Fiction and World challenges to be added in 2015! Us mods are going to have our work cut out for us!

This is the thread where you can discuss the Non-Fiction Challenge in prep for 2015.

We're currently trying to dwindle down the rather large list of non-fiction genres, mainly by combining certain genres or removing some that are too similar! So watch this space!

This is the thread where you can discuss the World Challenge in prep for 2015. We still need to finalise the months, which is our biggest task. (Obviously, there are only 7 continents...), so any suggestions for that would be amazing.

118012 Iasa, you'll have to let me know your secret. How do you read so much?!
Oct 09, 2014 12:28PM

118012 I'm glad people are getting so into this challenge!

118012 For me, I think that Goodreads really cemented that i love books, and it really did renew my passion for them. I guess I fell out of reading a couple of years back, and Goodreads really helped me get back into it. Especially with the reading challenge, I've really pushed myself this year to read ALOT.

Although, I do probably spend too much time on here and should probably spend the time reading instead, but we all know that won't change!

118012 It is only just turning 2pm here, so curling up in bed is a while away. I have a lecture before then! And England is often rather bad in October. It was nice until the start of this week, when the weather turned and it's been drizzly for the last few days. Not that I'm surprised, this is England we're talking about! Eternally grey!

After having a look, it seems to get a lot of good reviews, so I'll definitely go for it tonight! Although I'll have to be weary of the apparent slow beginning. No falling asleep!
118012 I can't say I've ever seen the movie!

118012 Ashley, I adored Tinker, Tailor! Would you recommend the rest of the series? :)

118012 It's all rainy, miserable and grey here in the UK! Hence this evening is definitely going to be a 'curl up in bed and read' evening!

Can't decide what to read though!

Has anyone read The Shadow of the Wind? Got it out the library the other day.

118012 Welcome Lynsey! Goodreads can be quite overwhelming, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Also, this group can also be a bit manic for a first time user, so again, don't hesistate to ask any questions you may have!

You might be interested in our Mini-Challenges section, which focuses on smaller, monthly or even weekly challenges that users set. Maybe you have a few idea!
118012 I wish I'd had that link when I was reading it, Sandy!

I feel like I missed so much out of the novel. Resisting re-reading it!

118012 Kirk, I've never known someone to read so many books in one series!
Oct 08, 2014 06:01AM

118012 I've heard good things about that book, Alesssandra!

Here's to an epic reading weekend!
Oct 07, 2014 05:58AM

118012 We'll definitely look into it, Aitziber!
Oct 07, 2014 05:56AM

118012 That sounds seriously good fun, great idea, Aitziber!
Oct 07, 2014 05:43AM

118012 That sounds really good, Sandy!

You could to a general test run of it for a month, then if that goes well, do a longer one covering different prizes.

eg. Read at least 1 prize winner (or nomination if you want) from each prize:

Pulitzer Prize
Man Booker Prize
Hilary Weston Prize
Nobel Prize
etc.

Just an idea!
