I'm just carrying on with my TBR pile. I will get to reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz when whoever borrowed it finally returns it to the library (been waiting since the end of August...). And then I'll probably pick a couple of books from the Group Reads.I don't do creepy/horror so I'll just read from my TBR pile for the readathon.

I just started A Storm of Swords so I guess that is going to be most of the month. I am on hold for the audio of Reached and am next up. I am not planning anything else for October.
I usually just use a random number generator to pick from the list I created for 2014. But as the list grows smaller, I'm going to organize the remaining books by genre. Next month, I'm doing all LGBT:Stonewall: The Riots That Sparked the Gay Revolution by David Carter

I want to read two books that have been on my physical bookshelf for a while now: World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and NOS4A2.Apart from that I will work in some group reads and the like. I'll post again when I figure those out :)
Karen - have you seen the movie World War Z? The book is very interesting, although I found it quite dry. It has a different perspective than the movie in that the book starts after Patient Zero has been identified. I hope you enjoy it!

I didn't mind that it was a "non-traditional" zombie movie. I DID mind that the Caucasian American male ran around the world (somewhat unrealistically) saving the day, while all the people/nations of color were portrayed as superstitious and backward.
I have heard that the book is very different, and much better so I am going in as open-minded as I can be.
I'm looking forward to October and have a very ambitious list! I know I won't get to them all, but I am hoping to knock out several!Dracula COMPLETED!

I'm slowly working through my physical TBR stack after buying new books again last week. But I'm doing good with my little personal challenge if I'm reading those books next month :)
I'm going to attempt to read a whole load of library books that I've pre-ordered (due to collect Thursday)which includes some of the Richard and Judy autumn reading selections but if I was to choose one book of horror, I hope to read The Girl with All the Gifts

Best of luck holding off on reading Dark Places until your others are finished...I wouldn't be able to do it. Loved that book...very dark...it gets in your head.
Well, just push me off a cliff already, thank god you two don't know my other weaknesses. I'd be in deep and looking for other friends! :D

I've got the same problem. I picked up soms books at the library but am holding them until the start of October. It's killing me!!!
I know, I really need to finish four other library books that I scheduled for September. (As I am fondling the new library books and reading the back cover). :D
I at least have 2 books I want to finish and there is another library book that I can start that isn't on my October list.

I am going with the classic - Dracula. But there are reasons. I finished reading "The History" last year and I read "A Discovery of Witches" this year so I feel that I am somewhat familiar with vampire lore. However, I realize I have never read the actual book so I am going to read it this year (finally)!

I've become addicted to audio books. Using them on my commute to work has tripled the number of books I read each month. :)

have got two books on the go at the moment, citadel by Kate mosse and the final act of Mr Shakespeare by Robert winder so will finish those first then try Dracula, Frankenstein and turn of the screw. then anything else in my library that I have time for this month
