I'm a bit disheartened tonight, and not just because of what happened in Boston yesterday. But I did come home last night and I sowed seeds, because it was, truly, the only thing I could think of to do. Mostly herbs, green eggplant (now that will be interesting!), brussel sprouts (never grown those before), and other stuff... My garden will be quite unique this year.

But to talk about the disheartening part... I said a few weeks ago that the more complicated my work life became, the simpler I...

Mowed the front lawn for the first time this year.

Last year, I mowed the first time in March! It's definitely late for this year, but it was due.

Things I found while cleaning out the Junk Room: (a list in progress...)

1 bottle of Navy Noodler's Ink
1 tube of toothpaste, unopened, that expired in 2009
1 large bag of blankets, including baby blankets (not mine!)
What seemed like 2,000 used bows from past Christmases. Not sure how I ended up with them, since I don't save that sort of thing...
Hats. Why are there so many hats up there?!
Shoes. Again, why?!
Seeds! Now, this is my fault. But now I have more seeds to plant!
LEGOs.

I'll have more to a...

So May is shaping up to be busy, weekend-wise...

May 3rd & 4th are the townwide yard sales.

May 11th is BAMfest in Bethel. I am not setting up as an "Artist" this year (still annoyed about last year's debacle), but I'm helping Dad out with the antique booth, so I will have antiques and collectibles.

May 19th is the second Burlington. (The first Burlington is April 21st.)

So that means my free weekends are few and far between. In fact, I won't have a completely free weekend until April 27th &...

I planted Pontiac Red potatoes in the raised bed, and have two more varieties of potatoes to plant--Kennebuc and Yukon Gold. So that means two more raised beds. :)

Luckily, I cut down more honeysuckle last night!

Finished!Winding down the weekend now... I'm finished with the first raised bed, so that's good. And I didn't run out of branches after all (although it was close!) A turkey sandwich and a small bowl of turkey noodle soup for supper, a cup of tea, and I'm just about to get offline and put away my clothes before I write for a while--something I didn't get to do yesterday at all.

I got a lot of stuff done outside, but not much inside. And that's OK, because outside is where I want to be right no...

So all those branches I've been cutting down out front--all those weed trees (or most of them), quite a bit of honeysuckle--they were cut for a purpose!

This is in between the Wolf River and Wealthy apples trees at the top of the hill. This is also only about halfway done. And I'm running out of cut branches! I can't believe it! The space between the round hay bales and my shed was full of branches, and they're almost all gone!

Also, flowers!

Gracie in contemplation.

Blueberries are in the ground--everything I planted today is mulched. I haven't sowed any seeds or anything like that, but that's actually OK; I have plenty of time. I've been working on clean-up, and it's starting to look much better.

I'm making turkey (I cooked a turkey this afternoon) with turnip greens for supper, and naan. I am contemplating sitting here and eating it with a cup of hot tea and an episode of Sherlock Holmes. And then... I do have a lot of dishes to wash, but that might hav...
