The day of Lammas, the harvest

Today is Lammas, the day of harvest. It is a time of reaping what you have sown, all my hard work, will become fruitful (I hope!) it is a day of celebration, but also acknowledging that the year is beginning to decline. This is a good time to acknowledge all your good points, being positive about yourself. If you prefer, do this in a group of friends. Each have two minutes to share all your best qualities. They may even point out ones you hadn't noticed. This can be a difficult exercise as we tend to notice our faults, more than our achievements.
If you fancy, make some bread and share it. I shall be attempting a plait later and we shall eat it with honey to celebrate the sun and nature.
This last month has been hard work and continues to be so. Adventures of Faerie Folk is out https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adventures-F...

and I shall be at LLangollen Faerie Festival 13/14th August to sign books and chat about all things elemental, so please join this brilliant festival - so many stalls and a faerie ball. http://northwalesfaeryfestival.com/

Diary of Margery Blake will be available for pre-orders from later this week (Wed 3rd) and will be launched on 17th September 11.30-2pm at Wrexham Waterstones bookshop. My dear friend, Fiona Knowles-Holland will also be launching her first novel, 'Before All Else'. We hope to chat, talk about our writing and sign books.
Later that afternoon, I will be having the pleasure of speaking with an old friend, Michelle who hosts a radio show in America. I'll give the link near the time. https://www.facebook.com/michelle.cor...
I am still busy editing 'Between Worlds', now that Diary is finished, we hope to have that out before Christmas, plus the audio books of Freya's Child and the faeries.
And so, my hard work and effort is slowly coming into fruition and I feel blessed right now.
How about you? I would love to hear your own stories of hard work and its rewards. Your positive affirmations of yourself and general good actions.
Love and blessings
Paula

Running around trying to catch my own arse!

The title just about sums up what my life is like right now!! I am juggling so many balls - well, books, in the air, I am having difficulty thinking straight. Hoping the universe has my back and it'll all become clear!
Last few weeks been busy with Alan Jones, very talented artist who has helped bring to life my new version of 'Adventures of Faerie folk' Volume One. This book has two stories and will be available on audio asap. It should be on Amazon within the week.
I've also been sorting book cover for my novella 'Diary of Margery Blake' which is due to be launched on 17th September at Wrexham Waterstones - more info nearer time.
Also been going through editing for 'Between Worlds' which I hope to launch later in the year.
Also begun putting faerie stories onto audio and will be available through Crimson Cloak publishing and Audible soon.
Finished putting Freya's Child onto audio a couple of weeks ago - available soon on Crimson Cloak and Audible.
Now I'll be sorting 'Between Worlds' on audio once I've finished editing. And available for other authors who'd want a British accent for narrating their books. Just contact Crimson Cloak Publishing.
So, this year is moving so fast, I am feeling as if the time is speeding by so fast, i am barely catching my breath. NOT a good feeling.
Tomorrow I am holding a sound healing workshop at my home (a few places left) so hoping that will ease my mind, body and spirit.
It's a difficult battle to play isn't it - when you want something so badly, but to get that, time for self has to be sacrificed. I am trying to find balance, but so far, achieving it has been difficult.
What do you do to achieve balance? Would love to hear idea's. I do meditate every day - even if it is five minutes. (Today was 15 mins)!! Felt good, to stop and merely be. Then rushed off to continue my work!!
I know I am loved, and I am loving. I know I am cared for by Angels and guides, yet sometimes, life/work, can feel so lonely - Yet, so exciting at the same time!! What do you think?
Love and blessings
Paula xx :)

What are we searching for?

I consider myself a spiritual being having a human experience - but what does that actually mean? I feel connection to Angels, spirit guides, spirit and nature in all her glory, but for how long? Here's an example.

I went to a spiritual retreat that was lasting four days, but I was only going for the day - to 'dip' my toe if you like, see how I felt. A gloriously, sunny day with lots of kind people willing to talk to me as I was alone and did feel vulnerable in my alone-ness - why is that I wondered? Everyone seemed to have arrived with friends - I was alone - the 'friend' I would have shared this experience with has gone from my life and I did sit and feel grief in my aloneness - which is okay to go through this process - it just took me by surprise. Even more so when i found out later in the day she is still held within my womb - it surprised me. Anyway, I digress.

I thoroughly enjoyed a dance session to wake up my body, a gong session to heal, followed by a back and shoulder massage. I sat in the sun and watched and listened to nature and those enjoying it. I had a vegan lunch followed by two hours in 'Red tent' with other women and found that experience enlightening, emotional and connection. Now, by this time it was four in the afternoon and I had been up since seven - I was tired, hot, emotional and loved the vibe - yet, I had also had enough and needed to return to my family and enjoy a pint sitting in the sun - which I did. (no alcohol was allowed at the festival - which I understand completely)

Now, some may judge this and say why in all of that connection - did I feel the need to rush home for alcohol? I asked myself the same question as I drove home, knowing that the evening would be a fun filled night of ale, wine and a curry - things I enjoy. So, did I stop connecting?
I feel a deep connection to my family and close friends I consider family and find pleasure in sitting outside our local inn (Colomendy Arms) with a fine ale and talking with my husband and daughter - do I need alcohol? No, but I want one - well two actually, but I chose to feel all connections that day and thoroughly enjoyed myself. So, am I still a spiritual being having a human experience? Of course and learning along the way. I came to the conclusion that I shall not judge myself harshly. It was a joy to experience connection to self and others and a joy to connect with family, food and drink - all are spiritual experiences so long as joy is reached. If it becomes a chore - something is very wrong.

Enjoy life as you wish it to be - so long as it harm none.

Blessings

Holidays for the mind as well as the body!

I have just returned from a much needed holiday in Northumberland, England. I had a complete break from the computer and phone, which I found easier than I originally thought! It felt good to step away from the chatter of websites and social media and worrying about sales and books and what to do next to help sell my books.
It is difficult for me to 'trust' the universe in helping me to reach the right people who will enjoy my work. My books are aimed at women who enjoy supernatural, historical thrillers, with strong women as the main characters.
http://www.amazon.com/Echoes-Some-inj...

Echoes is basically me - a younger me, who worked through many problems to accomplish this new strong me. I didn't meet these fictional characters, but they represent aspects of the horrors I had to face.

http://www.amazon.com/Freyas-Child-P-...
Freya's Child is my worst nightmares as a parent. I, as am sure many parents do, have horrible thoughts of what could happen to your child and it scares me. Some things we have no control over regardless of how much we try to do to keep our loved ones safe - it isn't always possible.

I as a parent, also needed a break from the routines. It can get so monotonous doing everything to the clock - how wonderful it was to be free from the constraints of time and just 'be'.
And so, I am back. Fresh, willing and able. 'Between Worlds' has been accepted by Crimson Cloak publishing which is wonderful and makes me happy lady - I am also beginning the long process of putting 'Freya's Child' onto audio. At this moment, i am sitting here wishing next door would stop mowing their lawn so I can begin!!!! We do not have control over everything!!
I shall trust the universe and begin when it is right.

I hope you learn to trust and live in connection to your surroundings.
In love and blessings
Paula xx
By the way - added this on 25th May - You have until 28th May to get Echoes http://www.amazon.com/Echoes-Some-inj...
at a bargain price of 99p or 99cents on a Kindle countdown

Reaching out - spreading my wings

I don't know about you, but I am quite shy when it comes to meeting new people. I find it difficult to make light conversation with strangers and need a topic to focus on and hopefully, given time, I'll feel comfortable to move onto other subjects. Lately however, I have been stepping out of my comfort zone and meeting some rather nice people.
I met a charming and extremely talented illustrator - Alan Jones. We met in a small cafe in Mold, my nearest town, and had a most enjoyable couple of hours chatting about books, stories, illustrations, artwork and each other. He made it so easy - and I am hoping to work with him on my faerie stories later in the year. I have made a long and difficult decision and have decided to re-do Adventures of faerie folk, as individual books - like the 'Mr Men' books of old, to create a collection of stories to stimulate the imaginations of young children - from Annabelle and the Strawberry faerie, to William, the Walnut faerie and the bad troll! Watch this space.
I also travelled last week to Liverpool, in a hailstorm with thunder and lightening to set the scene - to a book reading/signing at WriteBlend book shop in Crosby.
Within minutes of arriving and shaking hailstones from out of my jumper, I was having a most pleasant introduction to the owner - Bob. Of course, I had my books with me, and he liked the look of them - so again, watch this space.
I, along with Fiona and Sue, listened to two authors talking about their books - Sally-Anne and Kate Ellis. I am now reading my signed copy from Kate - 'Unhallowed Grave' - good so far!
It was interesting and very nice, to be on the other end of this event. Having given readings and signings myself, the ladies gave me some idea's and it was lovely meeting them to chat. Also met another story-teller - Jude Lennon, who tells tales of dragons and faeries, so will have to meet again and pick her brains. Sadly, the one lady I had hoped to meet, Holly, was not there. I did see her fantastic artwork though on the walls of the bookshop. It has been a difficult decision to make as to who I should work with on my faerie stories. Both are so talented, it would be an honour to have both. (Think I'd better inform Alan my decision!!!!)
And so, as you can see, I have met so many people this last few weeks - and all are helpful, kind and talented. Sometimes it is worth staring fear in the face - and doing it anyway, as who knows where that path may lead!
Enjoy your own adventures.
Love and blessings
Paula

Learning, learning and more learning!

We learn something every day. maybe it's something huge, like a new skill that can change your life, or something simple like reading suggestions on how to sell your books and it gives you insight into another avenue.
In my world, selling my books is obviously my aim and there are so many articles and blogs out there telling you the best way, the kindest way, the funny way, the devious way, but what truly is the 'right way'?
I have read for hours this morning, trying to get my mind around the science, the structure, the good and bad ways of getting readers, fans of my books, but as I read, it began to feel less human. Oh they talk of getting e-mails and subscribers and once you have them you have them - offer something in return and they'll pass on the word regarding your books, but I felt cold as I read.
You see, I don't see my readers as cattle to get your e-mails and pull you in, I see my readers as people with feelings and interests who 'know' if someone is genuine and truly cares for them and not merely wanting to exchange emails for trivia. I care that another human being has chosen to read my books. I care that someone has chosen to leave a promised review, or comment on my website www.pjroscoe.co.uk I care when someone contacts me and tells me they loved my books and how it made them cry and awake well into the night because they couldn't put it down! (Sorry about that ladies!)
It's hard not to sound pretentious and false, but I do care and I am learning. So bear with me as I learn to be patient, learn to reach you in a more human manner and get my books out to those waiting patiently.
We all learn something every day - this is my learning today - patience, resilience and connection to you.

With love
Paula

Answers appreciated please ...

I meditate frequently, usually every day, even if it is only five minutes. I have had a question going around my head this last week and wondered if readers would indulge me?
I see it time and again - never, ever ask readers to buy your book - authors should win them over so they will 'want' to read your work. I ask you this - is this true? Do you prefer to be 'won over' than an author to come right out and ask you if you would consider reading their work?
You see, I spoke of honesty in my last blog and I stand by it, honesty for me is paramount to existing within my world and others. To lie is something I find abhorrent. And so, to 'come at the reader sideways' feels like a lie, as though I am not being 'real', and so sales are slow. Marketing my books is not my strong point - writing a great story is.
So, may I ask with no agenda and honesty - DO YOU AS A POTENTIAL BUYER, PREFER TO BE ASKED OUTRIGHT IF YOU WOULD BUY MY BOOKS OR DO YOU PREFER TO BE WOOED INTO IT?

I would be grateful of all answers, so that I can learn from you.
With love and blessings as always.

Echoes of my world are repeating with joy

My first book, Echoes, is mine again and is out on Amazon and Kindle.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Echoes-Some-i...
Of course, nothing runs smoothly, as life is just like that and Kindle have put the illustrator - a very talented artist, Alison Jones as the author!! Will change that asap!
I feel a deep sense of pride that Echoes, my award-winning novel, is mine again. I went through so much with this book, it feels like a child coming home again and I shall endeavour to look after this one better!
I still await the edits of Between Worlds with baited breath and should have them by next week as promised. It is hard waiting for people to catch me up - patience is not one of my best qualities, but in this business it is imperitive.
Freya's Child has sold well last week as Crimson cloak allowed readers to buy any of their books for free - It seems I have a fair number of fans!! I sincerely hope they enjoy the read and leave a fine and honest review of the book. Of course, the hope is that they will enjoy it so much, that they will buy Echoes and other up and coming books - fingers and toes crossed.
I will admit to not particularly liking the giving away of my hard work, as I very rarely find that people appreciate it - Please please please - prove me wrong darlings xx
The past is always there, it can never be left, but it can be learned from and I strive to learn from mine. Honesty is not a bad word, so I am honest in my blog and hope that it is received with love and kindness.
Blessings always
Paula :)

Spring has sprung - sort of, so feel and enjoy the process!!

http://marymorganromancewriter.com/bl...
Above is the first interview of spring by Mary Morgan. Such a lovely lady, author of supernatural/Romance books set in the Highlands of Scotland, so I think I shall be entering the pages and having an adventure.
I'd never really considered 'Romance' books until I began interviewing authors of that genre - now I am planning to have a go! Always worth getting out of your comfort zone - you never know what you might find.
Recently, I bought my husband a 'Segway' experience at a local castle - we had over an hours fun around the grounds. I was terrified!! and had a few wobbly moments as I haven't ridden a bike for years, so being on two wheels, going at a fairly good pace was scary - but exhilarating for both of us and well worth it. I would recommend to anyone - think of something you wouldn't normally do - and do it anyway. Get the heart racing, the blood pumping and feeling emotions you need to feel.
https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...
I felt a real sense of pride yesterday when the box containing 'Freya's Child' books arrived a week earlier than expected! The new cover looks great - the book feels lovely - and I did that! I created it, and with others help, my baby is seeing the light again. It felt good holding my creation and a mixture of emotion flooded my body.
http://www.amazon.com/Freyas-Child-P-...

Echoes cover is almost finished and I will feel the same with that too. Right now, I feel excitement, apprehension and love towards this book and to Alison who is creating the cover. It is wonderful to feel - so feel wonderful xx

Exciting times ahead me thinks!

Below is the link to Freya's Child - now available on Smashwords for a mere $3.99. I am so excited. The cover is fabulous, thanks to a very talented artist, Loraine Lotter.

Here is the video link to you tube for book video - https://youtu.be/QsUu_Db45Fc

I am also working on Echoes new cover with another very talented artist, Alison Jones. We hope to have that sorted very soon and I'll get 'Echoes' back into the world.
So now for 'Between Worlds' and 'Where Rivers Meet' and 'Diary of Margery Blake' - edits and covers and out to you, this year i hope depending on how busy I get!
Good things coming, I can feel it in my bones.
