My world so far!
I cannot believe it has been over a month since my last blog - sorry guys - been a bit manic. School holidays is upon us and bedlam ensues until September!!
So to bring you up to date, my life so far.
In-between Worlds is done, at least so far as writing it. A couple of research questions still need double checking, but that is minimal. The story I know will have readers crying out for more but I'll not ruin the surprise! I am however prepared to let a few beta readers have first glimpse. If interested, pm me here or e-mail derwenna1@o2.co.uk.
Second collection of faerie folk is done - waiting on my illustrator to create the magic - hoping that is out before Christmas.
Working on 'Echoes' screenplay. Never done one before and it is an interesting experience. Thankfully I have a dear friend who has plenty of experience - Marti Melville. I cannot thank her enough for being so kind. Writing a screenplay is so different to writing novels. I shall see if I am doing it correctly very soon!!
I have also been working on a secret project which I have really enjoyed doing. 'Diary of Margery Blake' - Life seen through the eyes of a nineteenth century woman - The following is but a taste. it is not finished, but feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Dreaming in Braille
I have used this title as I yearn to touch and feel and it is my understanding that it is only those who are visually impaired can truly achieve this. I have attempted to come close to the sensation by closing my eyes, hoping to lie to my brain, sadly, this experiment didn’t work and I still felt nothing. I caressed the velvet cover of the book that lay on my lap, using my thumb to stroke the soft, smooth exterior which was pleasant enough, but I have felt this sensation many times and it was no great impression than any of the other times I had touched the book. I threw it into the far corner of the library with such contempt, I ripped the sleeve; I gave it not another thought and left the room.
Yet, I am jumping ahead and that will never do, though I cannot lie, I feel a small shudder of excitement at moving against what is expected, a tiny victory at best, but a victory none the less. For in my circles, it would be considered rude and dishonourable to move at such a pace, when it is expected that the pace shall be done at the ‘proper’ pace, though in truth, I doubt anyone truly knows who decided on such a thing, or why, but there it is. All things must be done accordingly and so in true Victorian style I shall endeavour to write my diary in such a way that you the reader will not be offended and my honour, such as it is will not be questioned.
Enjoy your days people. Live life, live to love

Latest review of Faeries
FIVE STARS *****
Adventures of Faerie Folk, Volume 1 is a cute children’s storybook by Paula J. Roscoe. In Annabelle and the Strawberry Faerie, rainy weather damages the crops that Annabelle and her mother planted, and they don’t have money to buy food. Annabelle finds strawberries in the woods, but the Strawberry Faerie forbids her to pick them. Annabelle pleads with her and gets to take only three berries home. On the way, the strawberries begin to change, much to her surprise. Clare cherishes her apple trees and throws a tantrum when a faerie eats her apples, so is punished in Clare and the Apple Tree Faerie. Other faeries tease Meggie Mog because she looks and behaves differently from them. They mock her even more after she accepts an important assignment from their queen in The Rose Faerie. Heini the Holly Tree Faerie dislikes painting berries red and wearing a tattered dress. She wants folks to admire her beauty, but unfortunately her wish comes with a price.
Adventures of Faerie Folks, Volume 1 will delight young readers. Paula J. Roscoe has created four imaginative stories with characters showing acts of kindness, selfishness, and vanity. The stories are fun to read while being educational. Children will learn that teasing is a form of bullying and sharing with others is a good deed. The book does not have many illustrations, but Paula J. Roscoe will entice children with her creative storytelling, which they will find appealing. I recommend this book.
This means that the book has gone through to the next round so fingers crossed.

Book launch of Adventures of Faerie folk
I can't believe it's Monday after the book launch. You know how it is when you wait for something, organise and hope it goes well - and then it does. All that adrenalin and anxiety beforehand evaporates and in it's place is joy and pride that people came. I met some wonderful ladies and gents who engaged in a lovely discussion on books and how to expand into audible books, which is something I'd love to do, but money is always the problem. We talked about faeries and the magic of nature. We talked about the storytelling and art workshop that Marina and I are trying to get going to encourage children to see the magic outside and find their own creativity. The next one will be at Brimstage Hall on the 31st July 11am - 1pm £5 per child for an hour each session.
We sold books, faerie cards and posters whilst enjoying hot drinks, juice and homemade cookies in a beautiful conservatory that looks out onto the garden full of colour and scent. It did rain on and off, but that only added to the magic and the smell of lavender that wafted into the room.
The faeries were truly with us that day on Midsummer's eve and we await to see where the next adventure leads ...

Latest review of award-winning Echoes
Review of "Echoes" by P.J. Roscoe
As a new author, I’ve been advised of many rules to follow, one of them being “don’t cross genres”. I’ve reached the stage of ignoring such entreaties because they put writers in strait-jackets and stifle creativity.
Therefore, I was delighted to enter the pages of “Echoes” and find a kindred spirit in P.J. Roscoe. She mixes a variety of genres in this unique, compelling “where the hell will it go next?” story.
For the uninitiated, genres means things like fact, fiction, contemporary, historical, mystery, raunchiness and so on. P.J. has blended those particular examples into a wonderful cocktail.
What the reader gets from that is thrills, chills and plenty of spills as this tale bounces seamlessly between the present day and the age of good old Henry the Eighth. The disparate characters are dimly-lit and left mostly to our imagination. They become intertwined, even though the leading lady just wants to be left alone. The complexities of the people and events are all nicely wrapped up at the end.
I thought hard about the number of stars I was going to give. I thought I’d settled on four but, bearing in mind that this a debut book, it is a great achievement and I think the author is going to grow and grow. So I’ve gone for five stars and I am going to put her “Freya’s Child” on my reading list.
I was blown away by this latest review of my first novel 'Echoes'. In fact, I cried I felt so proud. His kindness is overwhelming and I send David a great big thank you for his honesty.
Good things can and do happen. Feels good. xxx

What comes next ...?
This last month has been very busy. Not just as an author, but being a Mum takes up a lot of time and away from writing. Now Megan is back in school and I find myself staring at the screen unable to get back into the rhythm of writing!
Anyone else get this?
Having had some great news this last month - Adventures of Faerie folk was awarded an Honourable Mention in the Amsterdam book festival in the Children's section and Freya's Child has been taken on by Crimson Cloak publishing - all great right?!! But losing focus is happening to me which is weird. For everyone who knows me will tell you I am the most focused and motivated woman on this planet!! Yet I find my mind wandering and looking at silly cute pictures on Facebook and daydreaming. It stems from a lack of structure I think. The spa I worked part-time had to close and although it felt like the right thing to do I am still waiting for that reason to happen!
Perhaps I am looking at this all wrong? Perhaps now that I have the extra time to finish my third novel and work on the second collection of faeries I am feeling a lack of motivation. What is it that I am waiting for? A big win perhaps? Aren't the awards achieved already not enough? NO! I want more because I know I can achieve more and yet ... I feel as if I am on the precipice of something as all the signs show me 'abundance' so what am I waiting for? What is my fear? Change? I welcome positive change. Disappointment? It won't be as dramatic as I'd like?
I have this recurring dream that I am sitting in this posh hotel in the bar and have ordered a coffee and a large whiskey - Glenmorangie and I am looking out of the window and gazing out into the night of this city - not sure where, but in that very moment in the semi darkness of this bar I know that I have made it and feel an overwhelming sense of achievement and pride. I look forward to that drink one day
Blessings as always

A new adventure!
I have been very busy this last month, so please forgive my lateness in blogging! What with the faeries taking over and faerie story lady being born and offering storytelling and art workshops, it has been a wonderful, yet tiring month of meeting lots of people. So many kind people out there who are willing to help.
So, news this month, beyond the above is that I will be launching the 'Adventures of Faerie folk' on the 20th June 2015 at Brimstage Hall conservatory and gardens from 11.30am. Go through the 'Country Mouse' restaurant to find our magical place - all welcome.
http://www.brimstagehall.co.uk/
Secondly, in this same place, I and my artist friend, Marina White will offer a storytelling and art workshop in July - date to be confirmed.
My biggest news of all is this:
Freya's Child has been taken on by Crimson Cloak Publishing - contract signed and awaiting the process of cover and a little editing. I had a lovely e-mail that read, 'Good news, there is no need for any re-writes, this book is beautifully written and is only in need of a little editing'.
I cried when I read this as some people had been a little harsh in their reviews of Freya and I had begun to doubt myself! Now I shall continue with getting 'In-between Worlds' finished and the second collection of faeries.
This past month I can honestly say I have been overwhelmed by kindness and positive outcomes and it has made me more determined than ever to continue, so let me say this:
'Keep going. If you believe in what you are doing and know it is right for you and hurts nobody else, then believe. Listen to your instincts and follow your own path.'
With love

Faeries are here!!
A little later than planned, but it does take me a tad longer to work out computer stuff than most humans!!
Faeries are here - arrived first of March 2015
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjMXT...
I have just learned how to download a sneaky glimpse at the actual faerie storylady which is now on youtube and Goodreads.
Adventures of Faerie folk volume one had hit the bedsides of a multitude of children and hopefully they are learning the morals of the stories and to live in harmony with nature - I am not responsible for the consequences if they do not!!! Just thought I'd better make that clear!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adventures-Fa...
Please please make sure you buy the book published on 28th Feb, the other (14th Feb) is NOT supposed to still be in print, but Amazon are very naughty people. This version is black and white inside - Amazon's mistake which I am in the middle of trying to sort out as I want my readers to get the best books, so if you do happen to buy that one by mistake, let me know and I'll be onto Amazon.
Blessings of the faeries to you all xxx

The truth, the whole truth ...
Hello friends and readers and passers by,
As promised long ago, would share with you the ups and downs of being a self-published author, so, it is with some trepidation as to how this will go down, but I received my quarterly royalties this week that showed after months of publicity, talking to people, advertising my re-launch of 'Echoes' I sold ................. (drum roll).......
One book.
Yes, that's right. One. I now have a cheque for just over $2 which if I changed it to £ would be a few pence.
So, I speak to authors who have loads of reviews for their books. I hear about authors who complain that their sales have gone down to 35 per day!!! And I sit here with a book that has won awards, had a producer rave over it and yet nobody wants to read it - why? What am I doing wrong?
Am I too needy? Too desperate? Believe me when I say I am not. I am a nice woman who just wants to write books for people to enjoy, but how do I do that?
So, there it is readers - the reality of self-publishing and being taken on by a publisher who is at present indisposed through no fault of her own.
Is the universe telling me to give up? Stop hoping? Would love to hear your thoughts ...

A change in my blogs
They say a change is as good as a rest so here's mine - I am changing my blogs to I hope - be a bit more interactive and interesting.
My blogs these past couple of years have been about my life as an author which I will keep you informed of anything interesting but I have considered my many other interests which tie into my books and that is ghosts and the spiritual realms so i will be doing a weekly blog and choosing a different subject and hopefully you my dearest readers will find this so interesting you'll come back for more?
I will also be talking about other subjects such as music and how it makes us feel. I am at this moment listening to Damien Rice - I don't want to change your mind - such a powerful song. My dearest friend Paul put me onto this song quoting - if you don't cry you must be dead! I didn't cry but got choked up but have since watched the video and yes, fought back tears - it is now a song my husband I dance to and share a special moment.
So I hope to hear from you once I begin my new blog which will be this week - so tune in.
Talking of tuning in I will be interviewed on American radio on Saturday 5pm British time - more info to come.
Love and light as always x
http://www.pjroscoe.co.uk/?page_id=443
And here it is, my new blog on my new and hopefully much improved website. So come on over and talk to me xx I'll be holding a coffee mug!!
