Learning, learning and more learning!
We learn something every day. maybe it's something huge, like a new skill that can change your life, or something simple like reading suggestions on how to sell your books and it gives you insight into another avenue.
In my world, selling my books is obviously my aim and there are so many articles and blogs out there telling you the best way, the kindest way, the funny way, the devious way, but what truly is the 'right way'?
I have read for hours this morning, trying to get my mind around the science, the structure, the good and bad ways of getting readers, fans of my books, but as I read, it began to feel less human. Oh they talk of getting e-mails and subscribers and once you have them you have them - offer something in return and they'll pass on the word regarding your books, but I felt cold as I read.
You see, I don't see my readers as cattle to get your e-mails and pull you in, I see my readers as people with feelings and interests who 'know' if someone is genuine and truly cares for them and not merely wanting to exchange emails for trivia. I care that another human being has chosen to read my books. I care that someone has chosen to leave a promised review, or comment on my website www.pjroscoe.co.uk I care when someone contacts me and tells me they loved my books and how it made them cry and awake well into the night because they couldn't put it down! (Sorry about that ladies!)
It's hard not to sound pretentious and false, but I do care and I am learning. So bear with me as I learn to be patient, learn to reach you in a more human manner and get my books out to those waiting patiently.
We all learn something every day - this is my learning today - patience, resilience and connection to you.
With love
