Leaves Talk: Christmas Eve Isn’t ‘Til Monday!
Looks like most of these little leaves are ready for Christmas Eve night! I don’t blame them. I’m pretty excited about Christmas, myself. Can’t believe that it is RIGHT around the corner. The corner, of course, would be the weekend. (o_O) WOW. This month just FLEW by.
Thank you to ALL my old and new readers! I’ve sold lots and lots of books this month, so I’m pretty ecstatic.
I know it’s Christmas and everything, but you can be sure that Unearthing Words will not be vacant during the holidays....

Teaching This Writer New Tricks in 2013
It’s extremely difficult to believe that 2012 is almost at an end. At this time of year, when Christmas bells are ringing and New Year’s Eve plans are being made, I often like to reflect on the joys and milestones of the year and to ponder my goals for the next. I’m not going to unveil all of my goals for next year, but I thought it would be fun to discuss a few on my list. I’m a big fan of goals. I don’t like to call my plans “resolutions”, because when you accidentally fall short of them, i...

Wednesday Wanderment
It’s almost time! Almost time to put down the writing and reading…time to lay down cares from the previous months…time to enjoy the Christmas holiday with family and friends. I can’t believe it’s nearly here. This is my first Christmas EVER working past the 16th or so. I’ve been on a “school” schedule my whole life. Now that I’m working full-time from home (and LOVING my job), it is sort of fun working until the 21st! I’m pretty excited about the projects I’d like to finish this week. Since I...

A Christmas Tale: My Favorite Holiday Storybook
For my A Christmas Tale Blog Event, one of the rules is to share 3 reading traditions I do, did, or would like to do one day. When I was a child, the most beautiful holiday storybook in our whole house wasThe Christmas Miracle of Jonathan ToomeybySusan Wojciechowski (illustrated byP.J. Lynch). This book isgorgeous. I remember my mother displaying it prominently in our living room and reading it to me on many occasions. Check out this breathtaking cover:

What You Might Have Missed This Week
This has been a WONDERFUL week. Honestly, despite the various challenges I’ve faced with work projects, physical therapy, and time-commitments, it has been a glorious, celebratory, amazing week! I have been happier this week than I’ve been in a long, long time. Book sales are doing really well (a big thank you to all my readers!), I’m enjoying Christmastime with my husband, and we’ve got a bazillion blessings to be grateful for. If you’ve been as busy as I’ve been this week, you’ve no doubt m...

The Sherwins are off to see THE HOBBIT
OMG! OMG! OMG! *Breathes in. Breathes out.* AHHHHH! It’s finally here! I have been waiting for this movie to come out for SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long. Okay. I’m a little excited, can’t you tell? I adore J.R.R. Tolkien and his stories so very, very much. I am terrifically excited about seeing the movie today with my husband and brother-in-law. It is going to be the most epic movie ever!
If you’ve seen it already, no spoilers! We don’t want to ruin it for everyone else, p...

Leaves Talk: Catchin’ Rays
While this week has been considerably more December-y, last week was insanely warm. Oh, Georgia and its silly weather. *Laughs deliriously*. ANYWAY. This little guy was just out enjoying the sunshine, getting a tan. Makes me think a little of PSY and “Gangnam Style”, LOL. Quick side note to all English speakers with no exposure to the Korean language: “Gangnam” is pronounced “Kahng-nahm”. NOT gang-num (rhyming roughly with hang-man). Okay, language rant is over. For now.
It’s Friday. I have bi...

Retraining the Mind: What Writers Can Learn from Physical Movement
LOVE that quote. This sort of positive thinking holds special meaning for me this week. In case you didn’t know already, in addition to writing books, working for Maiedae, and being a wife to the Philosopher, I am also training for my black belt in Hapkido. I actually do two types of martial arts: Hapkido and Taekwondo. I LOVE it! However, over the last year, I have learned that my body is not exactly “normal” and it often makes various techniques difficult//painful//etc. This aut...
