Judge Denies Request to Dismiss Charges Against New York City Subway Hero Daniel Penny | The Gateway Pundit

(TIMOTHY A. CLARY/AFP via Getty Images)

A judge has denied requests from attorneys for Daniel Penny that the charges against him be dismissed.

You may recall that Penny restrained Jordan Neely for threatening people on a New York City subway train and Neely died shortly after. Of course, Penny was just trying to keep Neely from harming people on the train and he did not act alone. Others helped to restrain Neely.

Penny was hailed as a hero by people who were riding the train and felt threatened by Neely.

The worst thing about this case, besides the injustice, is that people are not going to intervene to help others nearly as much in the future. Why would they? The authorities are just going to come after you if anything goes wrong.

NBC News in New York reports:

Judge won’t dismiss subway chokehold death case against U.S. Marine vet Daniel Penny

A judge has denied a motion by attorneys for Daniel Penny, the U.S. Marine veteran who placed Jordan Neely in a deadly chokehold aboard a New York City subway last year, to dismiss the case.

The decision came in court on Wednesday. The judge ordered Penny back to court in late March. His trial is tentatively expected to start in the fall.

Penny’s lawyers Steven Raiser and Thomas Kenniff said they disagree with the judge’s decision.

“While we disagree with the Court’s decision not to dismiss the indictment, we understand that the legal threshold to continue even an ill-conceived prosecution is very low,” Raiser and Kenniff said in a statement. “We are confident that a jury, aware of Danny’s actions in putting aside his own safety to protect the lives of his fellow riders, will deliver a just verdict. Danny is grateful for the continued prayers and support through this difficult process.”

Penny should be exonerated of these charges.

Two tiered justice system. Men who’ve committed worse crimes get let off the hook but a man who endangered his own life to save others from a violent lunatic may be going to prison. Daniel Penny did nothing wrong. https://t.co/oBcX7krmLp

Remember Daniel Penny, the 24-year-old Marine who saved countless lives on a NYC subway train in 2023?

Today, a judge denied his request to dismiss the charges against him.

Justice is dead.

A country with a two-tiered justice system is doomed.

Steam Deck 2 – rumored specs leak – any truth?

If its not leaks about the Nintendo Switch 2 or the PlayStation 5 Pro, now we are getting them for a potential Steam Deck 2.

The Steam Deck has been a huge success for Valve with people finally ready to jump onto a mobile PC gaming device in droves. Even though it is not that old, it is beginning to show signs of age when attempting to play many newer games, so it is no surprise that word of a version 2, or at very least a refresh could be on the horizon.

Chinese forum Chiphell.com is where this one has emerged from (already you might want to at least have a pinch of salt ready at hand) but we are potentially looking at an OLED display running at 900[ and 90Hz.

The innards, if any of this is close to being true will be a custom APU, again manufactured by AMD featuring 6 cores.

When will Steam Deck 2 be released?

And the news everybody is really after? A release date? Well, the post is suggesting (and you can read more on Reddit from u/LolcatP, is that we could be waiting as long as Q3-Q4 of 2026 before we see it.

No news on a price yet but the post goes on to speculate it could be around the $600 seeing as the higher-priced Steam Decks proved popular among buyers.

Even if any of this is true, there is still a long enough time period for specs to change anyway. A lot can happen in over two years in this industry. These could be an initial indication of ideal specs as based on predictions, but in two years time, we might be expecting to see that screen a little higher up the food chain. Whatever happens, Valve knows its stuff, and it’s pretty much a certainty that when the Steam Deck 2 does show up for pre-order, it will sell out immediately.

Samsung is also touting new real-world translation for phone calls, with 13 languages included at launch. The Live Translate feature will use AI for two-way real-time translation and voice-to-text translation to provide live-translated text on-screen when taking a call. There’s Interpreter for real-time in-person translation as well, and it even works without Wi-Fi.

“Our Challenge Will be to Let People Know Who Brung it to ’em” – Kamala Harris Gets Testy with Reporter Asking About Biden Abysmal Poll Numbers (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Kamala Harris spent Monday in South Carolina and delivered remarks at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event.

Harris spoke at an event for MLK Day in South Carolina ahead of the state’s February 3 primary.

Recall that the Democrats previously voted to remove Iowa as its first voting state and replaced it with South Carolina.

Apparently, Iowa is too white.

This move was championed by Joe Biden to ‘reflect the party’s diverse electorate.’

Harris spoke with the media after she delivered remarks. She got testy with a reporter who pointed out that the voters are just not on board with the Biden-Harris ticket.

A new left-leaning ABC News poll reveals 72% of Americans don’t believe Joe Biden has the mental sharpness to serve effectively as president.

Biden’s job approval rating “has dropped to a low for any president in the past 15 years” due to stubborn inflation, high mortgage rates, and wars and rumors of wars.

“Further, Biden’s approval rating is 21 points below average among Black people and 15 points below average among Hispanic people, compared with 6 points among white people; more Black people, in particular, offer no opinion.” ABC News reported.

“We’ve done really good work. Our challenge will be to let people know who brung it to ’em!” Harris said.

Goodnotes acquires Dropthebit, expands offerings

London-based startup Goodnotes, known for its notetaking services, has extended its reach by acquiring South Korean startup Dropthebit, the creator of Traw, a tool for meeting and video summaries. This acquisition enables Goodnotes to expand its offerings beyond the educational realm and create productivity tools targeting professionals. With Traw’s innovative technology integration, Goodnotes aims to revolutionize how teams collaborate and communicate by streamlining the meeting and video summaries process. This strategic acquisition is anticipated to strengthen the company’s global presence and attract a broader range of users, including businesses looking to improve their productivity and efficiency.

Following the acquisition, Dropthebit’s three co-founders will become part of the Goodnotes team, and Traw’s services will be discontinued in February. Current customers will be given the option to export their data before the closure. Integrating Dropthebit’s expertise and technology is expected to significantly improve Goodnotes’ digital note-taking capabilities, paving the way for a more seamless user experience. Goodnotes is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for Traw’s existing customers, including providing help and support for exporting data before the platform is shut down.

Dropthebit background and innovations

Established in 2020, Dropthebit initially concentrated on developing a whiteboard solution before focusing on meeting summarization and launching an AI-driven tool for summarizing and organizing YouTube videos in 2022. In just a short period, the company has successfully created a platform that enables users to extract critical insights and information from hours of online content quickly and efficiently. Dropthebit’s innovative solution has quickly gained recognition as a powerful tool in time management and knowledge acquisition within the growing educational and professional communities.

Goodnotes founder Steven Chan believes this progress complements the company’s existing products, which started as an iPad app in 2011 and now offer digital notebook-like solutions for students. In an interview, Chan emphasized the importance of seamless integration between physical and digital note-taking for enhancing students’ learning experiences. He also discussed how Goodnotes’ commitment to improving its software has been a significant factor in developing new features to better cater to the needs and preferences of instructors and students alike.

Incorporating Traw’s technology will allow Goodnotes to provide a “paperless digital notebook” for professionals. Currently, Goodnotes has over 24 million monthly active users, and this acquisition will enable the company to explore the transcription market and develop support for YouTube and in-house company videos.

Google tipped to rebrand Assistant with Bard even before it launches

Google is reportedly planning to rebrand its Assistant with Bard before it’s even hit the market.

It might be one of the biggest tech companies on the planet, but Google has always been more prepared to change its mind on a whim than some of its major rivals.

Take this latest news, for instance. Google only announced its Assistant with Bard AI assistant at the Pixel 8 launch event back in early October, which was just over three months ago. However, the company already appears to be planning to scrap the name.

Website 9to5Google has been performing its customary deep dive into Google code – this time for version 15.2 of the Google app – and has discovered that the previous “Hi! I’m Assistant with Bard…” greeting message has been replaced by “Hi! I’m Bard…”

That switch is not a one-off, either. The website has scoured the latest version of the Google app, and has discovered that the vast majority of ‘Assistant with Bard’ references have been whittled down to ‘Bard’.

In case there’s any confusion as to what’s being implied here, it all suggests that Google is preparing to cut the (admittedly somewhat unwieldy) ‘Assistant with Bard’ name down to simply ‘Bard’.

Another subtle change in language is how Google is now referring to Bard as a digital assistant, rather than a new version of the existing Google Assistant. Indeed, Google has also removed mention of the “classic” Google Assistant, erasing Bard’s link to this existing tool.

Google seemingly wants to position its AI assistant as a new and distinct tool, and to begin pushing its current Assistant set-up into the background.

Emmys Viewership Sinks to New Historic Low After Drag Queens, Hell Goblin Steal Show | The Gateway Pundit

The Emmys hit a new historic low audience after drag queens and a literal ‘hell goblin’ stole the show Monday night.

A measly 4.3 million viewers watched the Emmy Award show hosted by Fox, according to Nielsen data.

Deadline reported:

While other award ceremonies have managed to bounce back (at least slightly) from their pandemic lows, the 75th Emmy Awards hit another depressing milestone. Only 4.3M viewers watched Monday night’s ceremony on Fox, according to early Nielsen data.

That’s a significant decrease from last year’s previous all-time low, when less than 6M people tuned in for the show on NBC. The awards show was also down more than 37% from the last time the Emmys aired on Fox in 2019, when the audience sank to a then-historic low of 6.9M.

All of the above were much lower than the last Monday night ceremony in 2018, when NBC raked in 10.17M viewers.

Perhaps Americans aren’t interested in being lectured by drag queens and literal demons.

RuPaul Charles defended drag queen story hour during his Emmy speech.

“Listen, if a drag queen wants to read you a story at a library, listen to her,” RuPaul said from the stage as he accepted the award.

“Knowledge is power,” he said, “and if someone tries to restrict your access to power, they are trying to scare you.”

RuPaul added, “So listen to a drag queen!”

“If a drag queen wants to read you a story at a library, listen to her because knowledge is power, and if someone tries to restrict your access to power, they are trying to scare you. So listen to a drag queen!”

Spanish cyberattack: ransom of €10million demanded by hackers

Saturday witnessed a cyberattack on the Spanish city of Calvià in Majorca, with hackers now demanding 10 million euros to be paid to restore functionality to integral systems.

The Calvià City Council website has been offering updates on the situation, saying the local authority is “working to recover normality as soon as possible, after having been subject, early last Saturday, to a Ransomware cyber attack, through which it is intended to extort money from the council.”

Majorca’s mayor, Juan Antonio Amengual, has reiterated that the extortion attempt will not be answered, as reported in the Majorca Daily Bulletin.

Ransomware attack slows Spanish council.

Amengual took to X to post about the current state of play and mentioned that the council continues to work with experts to stop the attack:

Trabajamos con expertos y otras instituciones para atajar el ciberataque 💻

👉El Ayuntamiento no se detiene, sigue funcionando ✍ algo más lento, pero en marcha

Los hechos han sido denunciados a 🚓 Guardia Civil pic.twitter.com/GS5a1L0Y0x

— Ajuntament de Calvià – Ayuntamiento de Calviá (@_Calvia) January 15, 2024

In the social media post, he said, “We (Calvià City Council) work with experts and other institutions to stop the cyber attack. The City Council does not stop, it continues to function a little slower, but moving.”

The Calvià City Council will work with the Telematic Crimes Group of the Spanish Civil Guard and hopes to keep residents and onlookers updated through the official website.

Spain and Ukraine are seeing cyberattacks.

Spain is not the only country that has been battling against cyber-security threats like the Ukraine, which has seen national impact of hacking late last year.

The largest telecommunications company, Kiyvstar, and banking power Monobank were subject to the hacking attempt. The cell provider going down would cause a communications blackout for millions.

In the United States, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and hacking attempts were seen across 2023 for Sony and Open-AI.

Open-AI, creator of ChatGPT reported the “an abnormal traffic pattern” that caused outages for developers in November.

Sony-owned studio Insomniac Games was the focus of one of the most scathing cyber attacks in December 2023.  This would lead to the blackmail of the studio for 50 Bitcoin (BTC), equivalent to around $2 million.

The studio and Sony refused to give in to these demands, resulting in sensitive information being released to the public alongside business strategy and company documents.

January 17, 2024

There’s nothing quite like the excitement and anticipation of a first date; it’s your first chance to get to know someone, and meanwhile, you have a chance to put your best foot forward while still remaining true to who you are.

But of course, you’ll need some first date ideas in order to figure out what you’ll actually do—and to get those sparks flying. With the right first date, you and your dating app match (or IRL crush!) can spend intentional time doing something you both enjoy together, while bonding, making memories, and of course, deciding if there’ll be a second date.

So, without further ado, here are 55 first date ideas to consider if you’re planning a first date.

1.

Catch a new movie you both want to see

Starting off simple, hitting the movies is the perfect opportunity to snuggle up in front of the big screen and indulge in some movie theatre popcorn. Bonus points if you have some discussion points on the drive home!

2.

Go to the drive-in

Switch up your usual movie date by finding your closest drive-in and enjoying an outdoor movie. You’ll have a bit more privacy than you would in a theatre, plus drive-ins often show throwback movies if you want to enjoy an old classic together.

3.

Go out for dinner

Going out to dinner is a date night staple for a reason. You can converse over good food, wear your best outfit, and gaze at each other over candlelight. To make things interesting, go to a restaurant you’ve never been to—or at least try something you’ve never had.

4.

Play mini golf

It’s cute, it’s fun, and it’s classic: Putt-putt courses are everywhere, and many also feature arcade games and snacks, so you can make a whole evening out of letting your inner-child out for some fun.

5.

Visit the driving range

If one of you is more of a golf-aficionado than a putt-putter, you might consider hitting up your local driving range to work on your swing. Whoever is the pro can sweetly put their arms around the other to demonstrate—oh so romantically—how to get a hole-in-one.

6.

Go for a hike

Any nature lovers out there? Going for a hike on a nearby trail is a great way to take in some nature and give you time to connect outside of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. (Easy walking trails are an option too!)

7.

Go for a bike ride

Want to take in more of your city in less time? Map your ideal route around town and go for a bike ride together. Even if you don’t have bikes, you could borrow or friend’s or see if your city has a local bike-share program.

8.

Go to your local history museum

Museums are a great way to learn something new and foster good conversation. If one or both of you is into history, don’t miss out on your nearest history museum to learn more about the area you live in.

9.

Visit an art gallery

Speaking of museums, history is just one option—art museums are another. You can gaze at paintings and discuss how they make you feel—or perhaps chuckle at the ones you’re surprised made it into an exhibit.

10.

Check out the nearest botanical gardens

Many cities have botanical gardens with a variety of plant species, which is a fun way to learn about plant life up close—plus admission is typically pretty affordable too, which never hurts.

11.

Explore a new science museum exhibit

Speaking of learning something new, see if your local science museum has any cool exhibits opening up. From geology to biology exhibits, there’s usually at least one exhibit that could pique both of your interests.

12.

Go to a paint and sip

Paint and sips aren’t just for ladies nights, and going to one on a first date is a low-pressure way to tap into your more creative sides. Plus, if you like your paintings enough, they can serve as a memory of one awesome first date.

13.

Rent kayaks and go out on the water

Getting out on the water is an instant recipe for serenity—and an arm workout! Grab kayaks or a canoe (or rent them if you don’t have any) and take a leisurely row down your nearest creek or river.

14.

Get tickets to a dinner cruise

If you like the sound of getting out on the water—but without the arm workout—consider finding a local dinner cruise to attend. You and your date can enjoy a night of dressing to the nines, having a nice dinner, and dancing the night away.

15.

Go fruit picking

When you go berry picking, apple picking, pumpkin picking, etc. you’re connecting with both nature and your date. Plus, you can go home and make something with your harvest, like blueberry pie or a strawberry tart.

16.

Stop by your local farmers market

Farmers markets are a great date option that allow you to simultaneously support local farms and get to know your date’s shopping habits. Are they going for the broccoli or the fresh-cut flowers? When you’re done shopping, try to come up with a meal you can make together with all your fresh ingredients.

17.

See a play or musical

From big Broadway shows to local theatre company originals, consider having an evening with the arts by seeing a play or musical. Put on your fanciest theatre attire, grab a cocktail beforehand, and enjoy the show.

18.

Catch some live music

Want to see a different kind of show? Check out the concerts coming up near you! You don’t have to drive for ages to see a bigger artist—get into your local music scene at nearby bars and venues.

19.

Go ice skating

Ice skating might be tricky if either of you aren’t the most graceful, but if you’re confident in your skating skills, it’s a super romantic first date idea. Even if it’s warm where you live, check out if there are any indoor rinks near you.

20.

Have a picnic

Pick a romantic and picturesque spot near you, pack up your favorite picnic dishes, and take a trip out for the afternoon. Don’t forget a portable speaker, sunscreen, and some fizzy drinks!

21.

Visit your local zoo or aquarium

Get up close and personal with your favorite animals at your local zoo or aquarium. Some of them may even offer volunteer opportunities, workshops, or demonstrations, if that’s something that interests the two of you.

22.

Try rock climbing

For the adventurous daters in the bunch, find your nearest rock climbing gym and give it a go. Belaying each other can even foster a sense of connection and trust.

23.

Go dancing

Going dancing is a tried-and-true date night activity that, quite honestly, needs a renaissance. You could attend a dancing class to brush up on your skills, or just have fun with it and dance like no one’s watching.

24.

Have a karaoke night

Whether you rent a karaoke machine for the night if you’re too shy to do it in public, or go all-out at your nearest karaoke bar, you and your date can let your goofy sides out, serenade each other, or find your new go-to duet.

25.

Attend a sound bath or breathwork ceremony

For a little spiritual connectivity and relaxation, see if there are any sound baths or breathwork ceremonies happening near you. It’s a chance to try something different and tap into your spirituality together.

26.

Go foraging in the wild

Speaking of plants, you can also forage in the wild if gardening isn’t an option where you live. From mushrooms to ramps to dandelions, there’s no shortage of dinner ingredients to use when the Earth is your grocery store.

27.

Hit the slopes

Whether you’re an avid skiier or more the bunny hill type, spending the day skiing or snowboarding is a great way to get outdoors together in the colder months, plus get a workout in, too.

28.

Build a campfire

From the warm glow of the fire to cozying up in a hammock together, sitting by a campfire is super romantic. You can swap memories, ask each other questions, tell ghost stories and make s’mores—whatever tickles your fancy.

29.

Volunteer for a cause you both care about

Are the two of you both big environmentalists? Or perhaps you’ve bonded over being vegan? Bonding over shared advocacies is an equally rewarding way to form a meaningful connection. You get to observe how your date functions within a community and values relationships.

30.

See a speaker or attend a lecture

People go to concerts all the time, but when was the last time you went to see someone speak? Find out if there are any cool speakers giving talks near you—and check out local universities, too, which often have opportunities to attend events on campus.

31.

Watch the sunset

Whether you’re on a roof or a beach, watching the sunset together is a classic romantic move. Or, if you’re early risers, don’t let us stop you from venturing out early for the sunrise.

32.

Visit a winery from some wine tasting

Enjoying gorgeous wine trails and sampling wine? Talk about a simple but elegant date idea. Of course, if you’re not too into wine, you can also see if there’s a brewery nearby that you’d prefer.

33.

Go to a local sports game

Does your town or city have a sports team, big or small? From football to basketball to baseball, there’s no shortage of sporting events to attend, and you and your date can cheer on your favorite teams together.

34.

Go bowling

Who doesn’t love a classic trip to the bowling alley once in a while? It’s easy to make conversation between turns, you don’t have to take it too seriously, and you can have a little friendly-competition fun.

35.

Hit up a local trivia night

Trivia is certainly not everyone’s strong suit, but it’s all for fun and games, right? Find your closest trivia night and form a team, whether that’s just the two of you, or with the addition of some particularly brainy friends.

36.

Go horseback riding

Going for a trail ride on horseback with your date can be relaxing and allow you to connect with local nature, and it’s well worth it to find the best trail you can, even if it’s a little far away.

37.

Check out your local comedy scene

Want a night of drinks and laughter? Go to your local comedy club, or see if there are any open-mic comedy nights near you. Bonus points if you go to an open-mic and both perform a bit yourselves.

38.

Go thrifting

Get thrifty with your date and hit up the nearest flea market, thrift store, or antique shop. You can spend literal hours in second-hand stores, looking at all the old treasures and making up stories about where everything came from.

39.

Explore a new neighborhood

Be tourists somewhere you’ve been meaning to visit. In addition to giving you both things to talk about and new things to experience, you just might discover new spots for your second date.

40.

Visit a library

Some libraries offer events and exhibitions that are great for sparking conversation if you’re worried about awkward silences. You can also swap book recommendations and read together, exchanging thoughts when you feel like it.

41.

Take your pets on a playdate

A good way to gauge how affectionate someone is is seeing how they interact with animals. You’re also giving your fur baby a new friend, so it’s really a win-win situation for everyone involved.

42.

Get a psychic reading

Find out if you’re destined to be together just for laughs. You might even discover something new to look forward to in each other’s futures.

43.

Go on a photo walk

You can exchange visual inspirations beforehand and try them on the streets. This is also great for discovering new spots around the city.

44.

Go coffee tasting

For a creative spin on the classic coffee date, consider attending a coffee tasting or even a coffee-making course instead. You can discover new things about each other while learning a cool hobby.

45.

Attend a book reading

Book readings can spark an interesting conversation between you that goes beyond the classic, “Tell me about yourself.” You and your date might even find a new author to fan over together.

46.

Go to a bookstore

Any bookworms present? Take your coffee date to the next level by getting coffee and then browsing a bookstore. Not only will your date’s picks be revealing, but this is a super chill, low-pressure option that can be as long or short as you want.

47.

Visit an animal sanctuary

If one or both of you are animal lovers, visiting and/or volunteering at an animal shelter is a nice way to give back to the animals, and spend quality time with your date doing something that makes you feel good.

48.

Try an escape room

Solving puzzles together gets the conversation flowing minus the awkward lulls. This is also a good opportunity to observe how your date deals with pressure, as escape rooms usually have a time limit.

49.

Visit a planetarium

Speaking of science, nothing says romance like gazing at the whole known universe. Sit back in the dark and wonder at the beauty of the night sky, without actually having to camp out in the cold.

50.

Take a cooking class

Another win-win date night? Taking a cooking class together. You’ll learn how to make some amazing recipes—and get to enjoy eating them, too.

51.

Go fishing

Fishing can be relaxing (and momentarily exciting when you actually catch one), plus you’ll have plenty of time to chat with your date on the water. Bonus points if you go home and make dinner with your catch.

52.

Watch each other’s favorite movies

Who are we to assume that your first date won’t be relaxing at home? To make your Netflix and Chill sesh a little more romantic, consider watching each other’s favorite movies. Your date will likely love sharing it with you—even if you’ve seen it before.

53.

Go on photo walk

If one or both of you are into photography, grab your camera, polaroid—or let’s be honest, your phones—and take a photo tour around a picturesque area. You can exchange visual inspirations beforehand and try them on the streets, plus this is great for discovering new spots around your city.

54.

Eat your way around your city

Speaking of new spots around your city, who says you have to have a five-course meal in just one place? Stop for cocktails at your favorite cocktail bar, apps at a local tapas joint, entrées at a swanky five-star restaurant—you get the idea.

55.

Try a workout you’ve both never done

Going on a date that gets you both out of your comfort zones is a great way to bond, and trying a new workout is a great date option for the gym rats out there.

The takeaway

Whether you matched with a cutie on a dating app or you had a meet-cute IRL, the only question now is what to do on your first date.

You can never go wrong with an intimate dinner or simply taking a walk together, but if you’re looking for a first date idea that’s a bit more inspired, don’t be afraid to go for one of the more unique options on this list. It’s sure to be a first date to remember!

The former president topped 50%, there was no clear second place’

The race for the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election is over.

That’s according to Scott Rasmussen, described in a Just the News report as a “prominent pollster and political analyst.”

The comments followed Monday’s landslide victory for President Donald Trump in the party caucuses in Iowa. He won 98 of the 99 counties, and reportedly lost that single, and left-leaning, county by a single vote.

According to the president, Rasmussen told “John Solomon Reports” that, “The race is over.”

“You know, if it had been Trump with 40, DeSantis with 30 and Haley with 20, well, then I can say maybe something’s going on here. But there’s no clear second choice.”

The results saw Trump finishing with 51% of the vote, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 21.2% and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 19.2%.

“Not only was it that the former president topped 50%, there was no clear second place,” Rasmussen explained.

Trump’s margin of victory was the largest in Iowa GOP history said.

“According to Rasmussen, a big issue for voters in upcoming primary states is going to be securing the southern U.S. border, which was a big campaign issue that Trump ran on in 2016,” the report said.

In fact, Rasmussen noted, “We think of national security as what happens overseas and foreign policy matters. But truthfully, it’s right here at home. So that’s where it was with these voters. I think there’s also a frustration that the elite politicians just aren’t treating this seriously.”

Joe Biden, on taking office, canceled literally all of the border security plans that had been implemented by President Trump, including his border wall construction, his requirement that those seeking asylum wait in Mexico for a decision, and more.

Further, the messaging from the Biden administration was that the nation’s southern border was open and anyone who came would be eligible for financial and social benefits.

So millions have since arrived, overburdening even those cities that claimed to be “sanctuary” zones for illegal aliens.
