Revisiting Eisenhower’s Instructions for Combatting Antisemitism | The Gateway Pundit

At the dawn of 2024, the United States is embroiled in a heated discussion over what constitutes antisemitism. In the wake of the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks launched by Hamas against targets in Israel, and the subsequent retaliatory military actions Israel has undertaken, protests in cities, on college campuses, and in the halls of Congress have ranged from peaceful to blatantly antisemitic, with chants, vandalism, and threats of violence.

Perhaps just as troubling, these events come as recent surveys have found that 20% of Gen Z Americans believe the Holocaust is a myth (another 30% neither agreed nor disagreed). An earlier survey found that over 60% of the same generational cohort did not know that 6 million Jews were murdered during World War II. Such reports are both disturbing and are a warning to the American public about deficiencies in remembering a pivotal event of the 20th century.

Concerns that Americans would forget the Holocaust or come to doubt it were first addressed by the man who led the Allied armies to victory in the Second World War: Dwight Eisenhower. A Midwesterner by birth who made the military his career, Ike was untainted by early 20th-century antisemitism that was prevalent in the halls of power.

Unlike many of his fellow officers, he did not view Jews, whether immigrants or native born, as fundamentally anti-American. Nor did his Protestantism include religious antisemitism. Indeed, he came to have several Jewish friends, was shocked by Kristallnacht, and warmed instantly to his assignment as Supreme Allied Commander to end the Nazi threat.

In April 1945, Eisenhower came face to face with the Holocaust. While visiting a former salt mine turned depository for items looted by the Germans, Ike learned of a camp nearby that his men had liberated a few days before. Joined by Gens. Omar Bradley and George Patton, Ike arrived at Ohrdruf, a subcamp of the nearby Buchenwald network. Refusing to leave for several hours, Ike met with former prisoners, toured every building, and soaked in the “hell camp.”

Though he had known of the Nazi labor camp system, Eisenhower was shocked after seeing one in person and realizing what that system actually was. He recognized that this was what his men were fighting against, that liberation was more than just freeing territory – it was about the very survival of civilization itself against a barbarism few had thought existed in the heart of modern Europe.

In the wake of Eisenhower’s visit, and the subsequent discovery of other camps much larger and deadlier than Ohrdruf, Eisenhower issued a series of orders. The camps were to be documented, photographed, and filmed. Survivors were to be cared for and interviewed. He also instructed all forces under his command to visit liberated camps as they moved to the front and ordered German civilians from nearby communities to help bury the dead, care for the living, and see what had been done in their name.

But Ike did even more than that.

He also called for and facilitated delegations comprising members of Congress, the British Parliament, newspaper editors, and other public opinion and civic leaders to see the camps in person. Eisenhower wanted to show the world that the camps were not some propaganda gimmick but a very real evil. He repeatedly said that such eyewitness accounts were necessary to ensure that in the future, no one would be able to claim such horrors had not existed. He foresaw the very conditions we now encounter today.

Eisenhower’s call to bear witness and to never forget the Holocaust is a reminder of the importance of historical knowledge and perspective. To argue that the world today is more complex than it was during Ike’s time, as either general or president, is ahistorical. While there are points of policy that necessitate contentious debate at times, there are events and movements that should only be seen as evil. Attempting to dismiss antisemitism endangers not just civility but our common humanity. Ike would want us to remember that, too.

He also warned of the dangers of open borders and dishonest elections.

“If you don’t have borders and fair elections, you don’t have a country. And we don’t have borders and we don’t have fair elections when you get right down to it. On day one I will terminate every open border policy of crooked Joe Biden and the Biden administration.” Trump said.

Florida Newspaper Rips Ron DeSantis After He Quits And Endorses Trump

The Miami Herald published a blistering editorial that took Gov. Ron DeSantis to task for using Florida for his presidential ambitions but then endorsing Trump.

The editorial board wrote:

As he exited, he endorsed former President Donald J. Trump. Of course, he had no choice. The Florida governor tried to sell voters the idea that he’s just like Trump, but more electable, more reasonable — but also more conservative. That didn’t work because, in the end, DeSantis’ brand wouldn’t exist without MAGA.

It’s not just that he was steamrolled by Donald Trump. DeSantis never appeared to want to save the GOP. He was more interested in making it a more ravenous, angrier and intolerant party. That worked for Trump, but didn’t work for the governor with all the charisma of burned toast.

So now DeSantis’ presidential campaign has ended. But the damage of the laws he has pushed through in Florida, as he landed more appearances on Fox News, will live on. Without his political ambitions, there likely wouldn’t be “Don’t say gay,” woke wars and the waste of state resources to fight meaningless battles against drag queen bars. These were efforts to appeal to Trump’s base but his supporters refused to leave the former president, especially after he was indicted.

DeSantis screwed up Florida or screwed it up more, depending on your perspective, because he wanted to be president. Gov. DeSantis will now head back to Florida for the next three years unless his sucking up to Trump lands him on the presidential ticket or with a job in a future Trump administration.

DeSantis is only 45 years old, but his campaign was such a spectacular failure that it is difficult to see him ever being a credible presidential candidate again. Ron DeSantis was supposed to save the GOP from Trump, but instead, he dropped out before New Hampshire and kissed the gold-plated handcuffs of the likely Republican presidential nominee and potentially convicted felon.

Samsung unveils the S24 as Amazon trials Alexa Plus

OPINION: It’s been a busy start to the year in tech with CES marking a number a launches from some of our favourite tech names, followed by Samsung’s annual S Series announcement.

Samsung won our attention this week, making it an obvious winner. Our loser, meanwhile, goes to Amazon as the company reportedly encountered issues during the testing of its Alexa Plus subscription service.

Galaxy S24 coloursWinner: Samsung

Our winner this week is Samsung after the company announced its latest range of S Series phones at its January Galaxy Unpacked event.

The latest updates to the company’s flagship mobile line-up include the Galaxy S24, the Galaxy S24 Plus and the Galaxy S24 Ultra

It was clear what the focus of this launch was going to be from the first invitations as Samsung chose to showcase Galaxy AI, a series of on-device and cloud-based features powered by machine learning.

New features include real-world and over-the-phone translation tools that work to interpret two-way conversations in real-time, Note Assist for creating templates and summaries in Samsung Notes and Transcript Assist for translating and transcribing audio recordings.

Galaxy AI should also improve the S24’s photo-snapping and editing skills with an improved Nightography mode and Generative Edits to name just a couple of the tools arriving this year.

Of course, Samsung isn’t the only mobile company to place a focus on AI. Google has been equipping the Pixel with smart editing tools for years and we’re bound to see more in the way of AI features from mobile brands across the board moving into 2024.

However, it’s interesting to see Samsung utilise the technology in many of its stock apps. We’ll have to wait and see whether this entices more people to make their next upgrade a Samsung.

Amazon Echo Studio 2022 alexa light ringAmazon Echo Studio 2022 alexa light ringLoser: Amazon

This week’s loser is Amazon after the company reportedly began testing a subscription-based version of its Alexa voice assistant with additional AI smarts called Alexa Plus.

The idea of a paid version of Alexa isn’t necessarily a bad thing (and Amazon isn’t the only company considering locking certain AI features behind a paywall). However, according to a report by Business Insider, the testing period isn’t exactly going to plan for the Seattle-based tech giant.

According to the report, Alexa Plus is currently in the process of being tested with 15,000 users. However, testers have noted that the voice assistant often relays inaccurate information, including “unnecessarily long or inaccurate responses”.

Considering Alexa Plus is due to launch this June, we can imagine this feedback has Amazon scrambling to fix the service. The company would already be taking a risk by asking users to pay for a more premium version of the well-loved voice assistant, but if Alexa Plus continues to relay inaccurate information after launch, we can’t imagine it will last long – especially now that Google Bard is waiting in the wings to win users over

Inside The Victorian Fashion Of The “Poor Things” Movie

The somewhat leisurely outfits soon turn into vibrant, adventure-ready outfits, that reflect Bella’s unbound curiosity and imagination, as she leaves the comfort of the only home she’s ever known and gets introduced to the outside world. From then on, it’s an explosion of bold colours and frothy silhouettes that sometimes look straight out of a fashion blogger’s street style photos. There is a ruffled white top and yellow shorts ensemble, which Bella pairs with tiny black sunglasses, a blue cropped jacket, and booties; and a white ruffled top with an ethereal, see-through pink skirt. As Bella is exposed to more things in her travels, her outfits gain layers, too: When she is first introduced to poverty, she becomes aware of her high-class status while wearing a Victorian white puff-sleeve gown.

Judge Orders Release of Last Defendant in ‘Newburgh Four’ Case, Blasts FBI Role in Orchestrating its Own Terrorism Plots | The Gateway Pundit

James Cromitie (Photo: Getty Images)

U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon has ordered the release of James Cromitie, a man previously convicted in a post-9/11 terrorism sting, harshly criticizing the FBI’s reliance on a controversial informant in what she described as an “FBI-orchestrated conspiracy,” the AP reported.

The ruling centers on a plot to attack New York synagogues and shoot down National Guard planes, a plan the judge deemed as largely manufactured by the FBI itself.

Cromitie, 58, was granted compassionate release on Friday, completing 15 years of a 25-year sentence. His release follows that of his three co-defendants, collectively known as the Newburgh Four, who were similarly freed six months prior.

The group, hailing from Newburgh, a small city 60 miles north of New York City, was convicted of terrorism charges in 2010. However, the case has since been mired in controversy, with accusations of entrapment and overreach by federal agents.

According to the DOJ press release in 2011:

PREET BHARARA, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that JAMES CROMITIE, DAVID WILLIAMS, and ONTA WILLIAMS, were each sentenced today to 25 years in prison for plotting to bomb synagogues in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York, and to use Stinger surface-to-air guided missiles to shoot down military planes located at the New York Air National Guard Base at Stewart Airport in Newburgh, New York. The defendants were convicted in October 2010 after a two-month jury trial. United States District Judge COLLEEN McMAHON, presided over the trial and imposed today’s sentences.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney PREET BHARARA said: “James Cromitie, David Williams, and Onta Williams voluntarily agreed to target synagogues and military planes using what they thought were real bombs and missiles. As reflected in the sentences imposed by Judge McMahon, these were extremely serious crimes that targeted New York and its citizens. Today’s sentences ensure that the defendants will be punished for their actions.”

Prosecutors had argued that the defendants spent months planning their attack, procuring what they believed were explosives and a surface-to-air missile. Their intended targets were purportedly the Air National Guard base in Newburgh and synagogues in the Bronx. The arrests were made after they allegedly planted bombs, which unbeknownst to them, contained inert explosives supplied by the FBI.

In her scathing ruling, Judge McMahon stated that the FBI had not only created the conspiracy but also selected the targets. She expressed that without the FBI’s orchestration, Cromitie and his co-defendants were incapable of conceiving such a sophisticated plot, much less carrying it out.

Furthermore, McMahon criticized the government’s choice of informant, Shaheed Hussain, who she called a “villain” looking to exploit “the poorest and weakest of men” into committing a contrived crime for cash.

Hussain’s credibility had been previously questioned due to his involvement in other contentious stings.

He gained renewed attention in 2018 when a limousine owned by his company was involved in a crash in Schoharie, New York, resulting in 20 fatalities. His son, Nauman Hussain, was convicted of manslaughter in connection to the crash.

Cromitie’s attorney, Kerry Lawrence, expressed relief at the ruling, reiterating his belief in Cromitie’s entrapment by the government. With the family elated at the news, Lawrence stressed that the conviction was entirely a product of governmental manipulation.

“I’m obviously thrilled that Mr. Cromitie will be released from prison, but still believe that his conviction was entirely the product of government entrapment,” Lawrence told AP.

“Seeing as he was hounded and manipulated by the government informant way more than any of … the other defendants who were previously ordered released, it would have been shocking if Judge McMahon didn’t grant our motion.”

This is the same corrupt agency who plotted a sham Whitmer kidnapping plot. The entire plot was hatched, planned, paid for, and executed by paid FBI informants. The FBI informants pushed the violent plans to kidnap Whitmer. It was all a setup.

In an October 2020 press conference, the FBI announced it had thwarted a plot by a so-called “right-wing militia” to kidnap and kill Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

The Whitmer kidnapping plot was in the media 24/7 and used to bludgeon Trump with just a few weeks to go until Election Day.

The plot, it was later revealed, involved a group of men who liked to go shooting, discussing how bad the Governor was, and one time they drove by her house.

The case fell apart when it emerged that there were just as many FBI informants and undercover agents among the plotters as there were alleged plotters, and that in every case the FBI was the one urging the plotters to commit violence.

The FBI also financed the operation. The FBI used at least 12 informants in the Michigan Whitmer kidnapping case.

Six defendants and 12 FBI informants were identified as the case progressed.

Last year, three Michigan men were acquitted in the FBI plot.

The FBI planned and organized the Whitmer attack, paid for the attack, and recruited local men to join in their planned attack.

It was another complete setup by Chris Wray’s FBI to frame and ruin innocent men.

The case, which we now know was comprised of virtually all FBI agents and informants, took another devastating hit in August.

Michael Hills, an attorney for Brandon Caserta, one of the six defendants, produced text messages showing an FBI field agent telling an informant to lie, frame an innocent man, and delete text messages.

One female FBI agent admitted during testimony that she slept in the same hotel room, and the same bed, during a training weekend with FBI target Barry Croft. She went the extra mile to get her man!

And… she also smoked pot with him.

The female FBI agent told the court, “Sometimes informants have to play along.”

Manchester, New Hampshire Crowd Goes Wild as Heckler Tossed From Trump Rally (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

A heckler interrupted President Trump as he spoke to a lively crowd of patriots in Manchester, New Hampshire Saturday evening.

Thousands of supporters came out to see Trump in Manchester ahead of the primary on January 23rd. New Hampshire voters lined up outside in the frigid temps to see Trump.

Trump supporters line up in 15 degree cold to see President Trump today in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Trump immediately called for the heckler to be removed.

“You can get him out of here. Get out of here. Get out of here. Go ahead, you can throw him out.” Trump said as the heckler was tossed out.

The New Hampshire crowd went wild in support of Trump as the troll was thrown out of the SNHU Arena. Trump supporters began chanting “USA! USA! USA! USA!”

“Now we know that politics is getting serious. So now we know we’re getting serious now. He’s just a disturbed person.” Trump said.

Watch:

President Trump handled the heckler with confidence and continued his speech.

Trump also pointed out the double standards that the government has with Biden. He mentioned the boxes of classified documents stored in Joe Biden’s Delaware garage.

“They raided my home, how would you like to have your home raided?” Trump said.

“Remember he kept classified documents under the wheels of his Corvette. He loves that Corvette, in an open garage with no security.” Trump continued.

SNL Mocks Trump’s Terrible Week In Devastating Fashion

SNL used its cold open to hit on all of Trump’s low points from his bad week that was terrible outside of his victory in the Iowa Caucus.

The opening began with Alina Habba introducing Trump, and Trump saying, “Thank you, Alina. You’re great on TV. Maybe the worst lawyer I’ve ever had, which is quite an accomplishment. Look at this team. This is the bottom of the barrel, folks. This is who said yes. I’m in the lead for president, and this is the best I can get. Feels like a red flag, no? Well, you’re not getting paid by the way. You know that? Of course you do.”

SNL had Trump delivering comments outside of the courtroom and talking about his cognitive test, “As you can see, I am doing very well cognitively. Doing great with cognitive. I’m more cognitive than ever. The doctor said, sir, you have to be in the top 99% of all the concussion and dementia people we give this test to. I said, well, I guess I’m very good at recognizing elephants. Who knew.”

Saturday Night Live brought up Jeffrey Epstein, “But Biden’s very creepy. He sniffs little girls’ hair. I am different of course. I do far worse than that. You ever see that video of me dancing with Epstein? Boy is this some dark energy. Clapping off beat. I got the Eugene Levy eyebrows. Very strange. I would not be surprised if the that footage was fake. Of course it’s very real. But you have to think in many ways it could not be. We’ve seen a lot of success with saying things that did not happen. I think we’ll continue to do that. It’s an innovation I’m particularly proud of. Seems to be working very well.”

Video:

The cold open was really bad for Trump, because it emphasized almost every major terrible thing that happened to the former president in the past week.

The Saturday Night Live cold open was a joke, but it also highlighted the major problem that Trump is going to have in a general election. Voters already know who Donald Trump is. They are well aware of this sleaziness, criminality, and corruption. When SNL started first featuring a Trump impression, they struggled with how to play him. Alec Baldwin got the combination of stupidity and narcissism correct, but just like the rest of the country, it took SNL some time to process what was going on in front of us.

SNL and the country have got it now, and the impression of Trump in popular culture should make him unelectable.
