BIDEN’S AMERICA: Study Finds Half of Renters in the U.S. Can’t Afford Housing | The Gateway Pundit

A new study has found that half of renters in America cannot afford housing. Of course, that’s assuming that they can find housing, the country is experiencing a shortage, due in part to Biden’s border crisis.

The data from the study is from 2022, but not much has changed since then in terms of the economy or the amount of available housing.

If anything has changed, it’s that rents have gone up considerably.

Breitbart News reports:

Study: Housing Unaffordable for Record Half of Renters in President Joe Biden’s America

Researchers say that in 2022, a record half of people in the United States renting a place to live used a massive chunk of their income for rent and utilities.

In its article, published Thursday, NPR cited a recent report from the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University regarding the desperate situation that is hurting people across the nation.

The center’s report found that in 2022, “as rents spiked during the COVID-19 pandemic, a record half of U.S. renters paid more than 30% of their income for rent and utilities. Nearly half of those people were severely cost-burdened, paying more than 50% of their income,” the NPR article continued:

“We actually saw increases across every single income category that we look at, which sort of surprised us,” says Whitney Airgood-Obrycki, a senior research associate with the center and the report’s lead author.

Since 2019, the biggest jump in unaffordability was for households making $30,000 to $74,999 a year. Even among those working full time, a third of all renters were still cost-burdened.

It’s a simple matter of math.

Guess what happens if you let 10 million fake refugees into your country?

Rent prices goes up for everyone at the bottom and wages go down because there is plenty of unskilled labor.

What is Epic Games Store’s free game this week?

It is Thursday already so that must mean we have another free treat in store courtesy of the Epic Games Store, (which recently gave away so many games last month) and its weekly free game. This week’s offering is something you potentially might have a look at and think you don’t need, but you would be wrong, as it is the bland sounding but lots of fun Infinifactory.

Infinifactory is a sandbox puzzle game by Zachtronics, the creators of SpaceChem and Infiniminer. Build factories that assemble products for your alien overlords, and try not to die in the process.

The factory-building genre, including the daddy of them all Factorio, is hugely popular, and if Factorio is a little bit on the hardcore for you – as amazing as it is – maybe Infinifactory will let you test out the genre for yourself without paying any cash at all, once you have indeed it to you Epic Games account.

It currently sells for around the $25 mark so this is not a super cheap game, so make sure you grab it before it vanishes from the Free aisle next Thursday.

If you need a little more information, here is some from the game’s store page.

Design and run factories in a first-person, fully 3D environment.Optimize your solutions, and then optimize them more when you see how much better your friends did.Explore a story-driven campaign with 50+ puzzles, audio logs, and more.Go beyond the campaign and push the limits of Infinifactory’s next-generation block engine in the sandbox.

Infinifactory gets Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam where it still sells for over $20 some eight years since it was released back in 2015, so pick it up for free and give it a go and get that old grey matter working for once!

The S23 Ultra is now cheaper than the iPhone 15

You can now pick up the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for a cheaper price than the iPhone 15.

GiffGaff is selling Galaxy S23 Ultra handsets in ‘Like new’ condition for £799, which is £450 cheaper than the price Samsung is still selling it for on its website. That’s also the same price as the iPhone 15, while bumping the condition down to Excellent, Very good, or Good will undercut Apple’s latest by up to £150.

Save £450 on the Galaxy S23 Ultra

You can now buy a Galaxy S23 Ultra in ‘Like new’ condition for just £799 through GiffGaff, which is £450 cheaper than Samsung’s price.

GiffGaff‘Like new’ conditionNow £799

View Deal

If you understand the smartphone pecking order, you’ll know that this is a great deal. The iPhone 15 is a kind of ‘entry-level flagship’ phone, if that isn’t too much of a contradiction in terms. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the other hand, is a true ‘premium flagship’, far closer to the iPhone 15 Pro Max than the humble iPhone 15.

So what’s all this about conditions? These Galaxy S23 Ultra handsets are being sold as part of GiffGaff’s refurbished initiative, meaning they’re not brand new.

However, that ‘Like new’ model might as well be. It’s described as having “zero wear and tear” with “no visible scratches on the screen or body”. You also get an impressive 24-month warranty on these Like new models, and they’re put through an extensive 30-point health check before being offered up for sale.

Of course, the elephant in the room here is the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has just been unveiled. We haven’t offered our opinion on that just yet, but early impressions suggest that it’s not a huge advance from the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Yes, it’s learned a few new AI tricks, but it’s been confirmed that Samsung’s Galaxy AI will be coming to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Which leaves the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s slightly better performance and new titanium-alloy frame.

Otherwise, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is exactly the same phone that has sat atop out ‘Best smartphones’ list for the past year. It’s still an absolute cracker, and at this price, a total bargain to boot.

Google leaks the Asus Zenfone 11

The Asus Zenfone 11 has leaked, and via a source that’s pretty difficult to dispute – Google itself.

Rumours of the Zenfone’s demise appear to have been greatly exaggerated (as Asus has always asserted, to be fair), with news of an official listing for the Zenfone 11.

As pointed out by 9to5Google, the Zenfone 11 has been listed in the Google Play Console, which is the backend tool that developers use to distribute their apps.

This Google Play Console features a list of Android devices, and every so often a brand new piece of hardware squeaks through. One such early addition is the Asus Zenfone 11.

Besides the news that the Zenfone will pack a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 1080p display, and 16GB of RAM, we also get a little snap of the front of the phone.

Asus Zenfone 11Image via 9to5Mobile

There isn’t too much to be gleaned from such a thing of course – modern flagship phones don’t offer much to look from this angle at besides a beautiful screen. But it does look to me like the chin bezel is a little smaller and more in proportion with the rest than the Asus Zenfone 10 and Zenfone 9, which was a bit of a bugbear of mine in two otherwise excellent phones.

Also notable is that the selfie camera has shifted from the corner to the centre of the display, bringing it in line with the majority approach.

It’s worth mentioning that even though this is an official Google listing, a pinch of salt is required in certain respects. Those images aren’t always accurate, and the GPU listed here isn’t the right one for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

This isn’t to discredit this whole listing, but rather to note that errors have been made, so don’t take any single piece of information listed within as gospel.

It’s curious to see this emerging so early, given that the Zenfone 10 launched in June of 2023. Let’s see how this plays out.

Women and Children Win! Ohio Bans Sex Changes For Minors and Protects Female Sports After State Senate Overrides RINO Governor Mike DeWine’s Veto | The Gateway Pundit

Doctors can no longer mutilate minors in Ohio, and female sports are now protected there thanks to courageous Republicans defying their RINO governor Wednesday.

As CBS News reported, the State Senate voted to override Governor Mike DeWine’s veto of House Bill 68, a common-sense measure that sought to prohibit gender-affirming care for minors and to restrict transgender athletes’ participation in girls’ and women’s sports.

The official tally was 24-8. The Ohio House earlier overrode DeWine’s veto against Ohio House Bill 68 in a 65-28 vote as TGP’s Cristina Laila revealed.

With both the House and Senate passing their overrides with veto-proof majorities, House Bill 68 is now law.

Sen. Nathan Manning from Cuyahoga County was the only “Republican” who joined the Democrats to vote against the override as CBS News notes.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported DeWine exercised his executive authority to veto House Bill 68 in December and whined to reporters at a press conference afterward that the bill was too complex.

I think it’s very important that we all remember that all those on each side of this issue sincerely and truly believe their position best protects children. These are truly complex issues and reasonable people, reasonable people can draw vastly different conclusions. This bill would impact a very small number of Ohio’s children.

But for those children who face gender dysphoria and for their families, the consequences of this bill could not be more profound.

Republican state Sen. Kristina Roegner, one of the bill’s co-sponsors, correctly argued on the Senate floor Wednesday that gender mutilation of minors has become a “profit center” for hospitals seeking to turn them into “permanent patients.”

She continued:

There are men, and there are women, and there are boys, and there are girls, and they are different. Gender is not fluid. There is no such thing as a gender spectrum.

Officials expect the law to take effect in roughly 90 days according to CBS News.

Google settles AI-related chip patent lawsuit that sought billions

Google has reached a settlement in an AI-related chip patent infringement lawsuit, which could have resulted in the tech firm paying out billions. The lawsuit is related to the chips powering the company’s artificial-intelligence technology, which the plaintiff suggested it had allegedly used for its computer-processing innovations.

Reuters reported that on the same day closing arguments were expected to start in a trial concerning Singular Computing’s lawsuit, a settlement was reached. The lawsuit had demanded $1.67 billion in damages.

The company, founded by Massachusetts-based scientist and former MIT professor Joseph Bates, told the jury in the U. S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts that Google circumvented the construction of around $10 billion worth of data centers by using his patented technology without permission. After a two-week trial, just as closing arguments were about to be presented, the parties submitted a joint motion early Wednesday to pause the proceedings while they concluded a settlement agreement.

A court document from Google reveals that Singular sought monetary damages up to $7 billion, an amount reportedly exceeding twice the size of the largest patent infringement award ever granted in U.S. history.

In 2020, the complaint said Bates had “patented architectures, allow for […] more efficient use of a computer’s transistors and have revolutionized the way AI training and inference are accomplished.” The scientist reportedly disclosed his computer-processing innovations to Google during the period from 2010 to 2014.

Google spokesperson Jose Castaneda responded to say it was “pleased to have resolved this matter,” adding that the tech giant did not violate Singular’s patent rights.

Last July, a federal judge prohibited Google from informing the jury that the computer architecture created by Bates did not qualify for U.S. patent protection — or that the patents in question were invalid in any other way.

Google’s settlements

In December, Google agreed to another settlement in a U.S. lawsuit that accused it of violating user privacy by tracking their activities, even while they were using the “private mode” for browsing.

This class action lawsuit demanded a minimum of $5 billion from Google and its parent company, Alphabet, for these alleged privacy invasions.

Following the settlement agreement, Google updated the disclaimer for its Chrome “incognito” mode, making changes a few weeks after the settlement.

Google also agreed to a $700m payout and increased competition on Google Play following December’s federal court decision. Large technology companies have faced increased scrutiny of their practices.

Democrat Dean Phillips Attends a Trump Rally – Tells CNN He was Amazed at How Friendly the People Were (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit

Dean Phillips is the Minnesota Democrat who is challenging Joe Biden for the Dem nomination. He is not likely to get very far, but he is getting some attention from the media.

This week, he appeared on CNN and told the story of how he recently went to his first Trump rally. He was amazed at how friendly and diverse the crowd was.

This is something we have seen happen before. When a liberal meets real Trump supporters, they are often shocked to learn that they are nothing like the way Democrats and the media portray them.

Real Clear Politics provides a transcript:

PHILLIPS: Well, I mean, I think it would take — it would take a really unusual look at these numbers. And, look, the governor’s not a bad guy. He knows Trump’s going to win. He’s trying his best to prevent that. I respect that.

But the writing’s on the wall. If Nikki Haley’s in this race a few weeks from now I would be really surprised. And that’s the truth. And the fact is, we have a duopoly, a two-party system that is literally working against voters, and voters who don’t want to show up and vote in primaries and then get frustrated by the choices we have in November. That’s part of the problem. We have a crisis of participation.

And I’ve got to tell you guys, I went to a Donald Trump rally a couple nights ago. Never been to one. I had an event across the street. I saw the line of people waiting in the cold for hours and I thought, what the heck, you know, I’m going to be a leader who actually invites people, doesn’t condemn them, I met probably 50 Trump people waiting in line. Every single one of them, thoughtful, hospitable, friendly, all of them so frustrated that they feel nobody’s listening to them but Donald Trump. A diverse crowd. People who had never been to a Trump event before. My party is completely delusional right now, and somebody had to wake us up. And if that’s my job, so be it.

Here’s the video:

Democrat presidential candidate Dean Phillips went to a Trump rally and found out that Trump voters are thoughtful, kind, diverse, hospitable and generally awesome people who feel like no one is listening to them but Trump. He now says Dems are delisiomal. pic.twitter.com/sLYGzHmteT

It’s too bad that more Democrats don’t do what Dean did and learn the truth for themselves.

BeReal introduces influencer feature in bid to boost engagement

Brands and celebrities will be able to join BeReal as influencers, as the beleaguered social media platform attempts to regain its market share. From February 6, “RealBrands” or “RealPeople” will be introduced, allowing fans to have access to stars in a way that is supposedly less curated.

The French social media app encourages users to share a photo of themselves and their immediate surroundings given a randomly selected two-minute window every day. Billed as the anti-Instagram, it emerged in 2020, out of a growing call for less artificial content online. However, BeReal is altering its fundamental features by introducing well-known yet unfamiliar individuals.

“RealPeople isn’t about influencing, amassing likes or comments, or promoting brands. You won’t see photoshopped pictures, product recommendations or ads disguised as posts,” the platform stated last year, according to Benzinga.

On its website, the company added, “To qualify for a RealPeople or RealBrand account, you must be a notable person or brand and have an existing BeReal account.” According to TechCrunch, BeReal announced an increase in its daily active users to 23 million, up from 20 million in August, indicating an incremental rise. However, with its growth slowing down, BeReal faces the challenge of user engagement and retaining its audience.

Is BeReal on the decline?

The app achieved remarkable success, with 53 million downloads in October 2022, according to research from Sensor Tower. However, its daily active users significantly declined, with Vogue claiming that it dropped from 20 million in October 2022 to 6 million by March 2023.

In the past year, BeReal also introduced several new features, including groups, mentions, the ability to post multiple times a day, pinned posts, and a “friends of friends” feed. A Pew study estimated that about 13% of U.S. teenagers are using the app.

Around 90% of teenagers use YouTube, making it the most popular platform in the Pew survey. Likewise, TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram continue to be favorites among teens. A significant portion of youths aged 13 to 17 report using TikTok (63%), Snapchat (60%), and Instagram (59%). Hence, BeReal seems to be facing challenges in sustaining its initial success.

On top of this, it has been struggling to make money from this model. With RealBrands and RealPeople, users are still required to post spontaneously at the designated time. However, this move towards incorporating brands could be seen as BeReal’s initial step towards generating revenue.

TechCrunch has reported a statement from the company, noting: “For those of you concerned that this is changing our focus, we can assure you that BeReal will always be about friends and close connections first.”

Hillary Clinton Gets Roasted into Oblivion After Posting Cringeworthy Message Regarding Barbie’s Director and Lead Actress Both Getting ‘Snubbed’ By the Oscars | The Gateway Pundit

Crooked Hillary Clinton decided to emerge from hiding Wednesday to weigh on the controversy surrounding the woke Barbie movie and got roasted into oblivion.

Lead actress Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig joined forces to turn Barbie into the ultimate feminist, male-bashing film. Moreover, the movie includes anti-mother and trans propaganda aimed at little girls.

While Barbie was nominated for numerous awards, the film’s fans were enraged after Robbie and Gerwig were not recognized. The fans were especially furious after Ryan Gosling was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Ken.

Hillary responded by posting an incredibly cringeworthy message saying Robbie and Gerwig are “so much more than “Kenough” despite not taking “home the gold.” She closed by including the hashtag #HillaryBarbie.

Greta & Margot,

While it can sting to win the box office but not take home the gold, your millions of fans love you.

You’re both so much more than Kenough.#HillaryBarbie

Conservatives on social media, who are certainly no fans of Crooked Hillary or Barbie, responded with creative messages mocking her.

GTA 6: ‘Florida Joker’ threatens Rockstar with lawsuit

A man named ‘Florida Joker’ is threatening to sue Rockstar Games over the likeliness between himself and one of the characters in the hugely anticipated GTA 6.

In a series of videos posted online since the beginning of December, the Florida Joker – real name Lawrence Sullivan – has made multiple demands for compensation to Rockstar, starting with $2 million before eventually increasing it to $10 million a month later.

His dispute is over the appearance of one of the characters showcased in the GTA 6 trailer, released last year, showing a prisoner with face tattoos and purple hair. The Florida Joker also has face tattoos, but didn’t originally have purple hair. He dyed his hair purple a few days after his initial demand for compensation, presumably in an attempt to strengthen his case against the developers of one of the most successful video game franchises in the world.

In his first video, Sullivan simply recognizes the similarities in their appearance before saying “we gotta talk.” Just a few days later, he posts another video, claiming “Ya’ll took my likeness, y’all took my life” before demanding a $2 million payout from Rockstar.

A third video, in which now he has purple hair and is wearing an orange jumpsuit to make him look even more like the character, Sullivan demands an additional $1 million because “I’m giving you the biggest free marketing.”

Update 2: Florida Joker is threatening a lawsuit after dyeing his hair purple to look like the character featured in the GTA 6 trailer:

“I’m giving you the biggest free marketing, for that I want extra $1M. You got 3 days before my lawyers go crazy. I got hard evidence.” https://t.co/E2jOYciweI pic.twitter.com/3pqAcaeRHL

— GTA 6 Countdown ⏳ (@GTAVI_Countdown) December 12, 2023

Following a month of video updates, where he regularly threatens legal action and claims he has contacted his lawyers to build a case against Rockstar, the ‘Florida Joker’ now appears to be adopting a softer approach for compensation. In his most recent video, he asks Rockstar for a deal to voice his character in GTA 6, before saying, “I’m really not trying to sue ya’ll, but if I got to, I will.”

There were also threats to join forces with the GTA 6 hacker who cost Rockstar Games $5 million last year.

Does the Florida Joker have a case against Rockstar?

It’s unlikely, because there is actually precedent for this kind of thing, especially involving Rockstar.

Following the release of GTA V, actress Lindsay Lohan attempted to sue Rockstar because an in-game actress looked like her, sounded like her and even dressed in clothes that resembled her own clothing line. After a four year legal battle, New York state’s Court of Appeals rejected her case, stating the character simply resembled a generic young woman.

So the odds don’t look good for the Florida Joker, who currently seems hell-bent on getting something out of Rockstar one way or another.

To make matters worse for Sullivan, lawyer Rob Freund, who has won a similar case for a video game publisher in the past, said on X that his chances of successfully beating Rockstar in the courts is very low. He posted: “None of the tattoos are the same, his hair isn’t the same, his face isn’t the same.

“It’s just another guy with face tattoos. At least that’s what Rockstar would say, and I’d bet on them prevailing. I don’t think it’s clear enough and referencing someone isn’t enough to be unlawful.”
