The George Carlin estate filed a copyright lawsuit for AI-generated comedy
George Carlin’s family estate has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Dudsey– a media company that used generative AI to make a parody comedy spectacular that mimics the late star’s voice and lighthearted demeanor for an hour. Dudsey gained notice in April 2023 for its AI mimic of Tom Brady, who threatened a suit, but it was removed from Dudsey’s channel. The Carlin family suit was filed in federal court. The suit claims that Carlin’s likeness and copyrighted materials were utilized without permission or required permissions. The lawsuit describes the presentation as a “computer-generated click-bait which harms Carlin’s reputation and detracts from the value of his comedic works.” Further, the case wants “immediate removal and destruction of all faked copies.”
In “I’m Glad I’m Dead,” George Carlin appears as himself in an AI-generated special posted to the Dudesy podcast’s YouTube channel on January 9. It is still available there and has had nearly 500,000 views. A few days after the special’s broadcast, presenters of the Dudesy podcast Will Sasso and Chad Kultgen—who are also included in the complaint — reacted to criticism by calling AI “the next paintbrush” and a “new tool that’s going to be utilized in every facet of life.”

Carlin’s daughter gave a statement that claims that “…no machine will ever replace his genius,” which, though true will likely not stop generative AI proponents from trying again.
In October 2023, a “No Fakes Act” was proposed by US senators to seek to introduce laws to stop performers from having their images or self from being digitally reproduced without permission. It appears that generative AI has all the capabilities to replicate almost anyone digitally.
Some have commented that George Carlin himself pushed every convention of his time. If you don’t believe it, look up and watch his 1972 show (it’s on YouTube), “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television.” Were Carlin here today — as an intense genius and free-thinker, it has been postulated that he may have used generative AI himself.
You can watch an HBO special, George Carlin’s American Dream, where Carlon is in 14 HBO comedy specials and 130 The Tonight Show — and he impersonates many people.

The situation at the southern border has become a multi-level crisis and it turns out that it has been incredibly expensive, too.
The Biden administration has spent $20 billion hard-earned American tax dollars on ‘refugee’ resettlement in just the last two years. Of course, the vast majority of illegal border crossers are not refugees at all.
Democrats sure do seem to enjoy spending other people’s money.

The Biden administration has poured billions of taxpayer dollars into the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) since October 2022, according to a new report from Open the Books.
The Biden administration spent $8.925 billion in fiscal year 2022 and $10.928 billion in fiscal year 2023 on the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at ORR to accommodate, transport, and provide migrants with various other services like medical care and loans, according to the report, which was released Tuesday. In recent months, HHS has faced scrutiny for ORR’s alleged mishandling of cases of unaccompanied migrant children, some of whom have been released to poorly vetted sponsors where they are used for child labor, according to The New York Times.
Illegal immigration at the southern border has hit record highs under the Biden administration with federal authorities recording more than 2.2 million encounters of migrants crossing illegally in fiscal year 2022 and more than 2 million in fiscal year 2023, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) statistics.
The agency has lost contact with 85,000 unaccompanied migrant children, according to the NYT. Meanwhile, the Biden administration has spent more than $5.5 billion separately in fiscal years 2022 and 2023 on unaccompanied migrant children, according to the Open the Books report.
That $20 billion could have built a lot of border wall, or housing for veterans, or paid for any number of other things.
Instead, Biden wasted it wrecking the country.

In general, the water around Isla Danzanta is exceptionally clear, making it perfect for snorkeling and observing marine life. If you have more time, there are several charming small beaches in the area.
There’s also an excellent network of short hiking trails that cover the northern part of the island. These trails even lead down to a rocky shore that connects to the northernmost point of the island. The views from these trails are absolutely stunning and provide plenty of photo opportunities to capture your boat in this incredibly picturesque location.
Now is also the time to have a picnic on board, or simply enjoy the seclusion and be lulled by the sound of the sea.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has endorsed Ohio District Nine Congressional Candidate State Rep. Derek Merrin, running against JR Majewski, for US Congress in a move that may not surprise many.

Mike Johnson has had numerous other letdowns as speaker of the House:

Speaker Mike Johnson has endorsed GOP state Rep. Derek Merrin in his bid to oust longtime Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur from her northwest Ohio seat, taking sides in a contentious Republican primary.
After a massive smear campaign by leftist news outlets in 2022 dishonestly targeting Majewski’s military service after he was endorsed by President Trump in 2020, “the National Republican Congressional Committee canceled nearly $1 million in advertising promoting Majewski,” reports Daily Caller. The RINOs hung Majewski out to dry in 2022 based on bogus fake news stories about his service in Afghanistan and caused him to lose the general election.
Craig Riedel isn’t the only candidate in the race with a questionable background.
The Gateway Pundit reported on Craig Riedel’s demise as a candidate when he outed himself as a never-Trumper.
Riedel said in a recorded phone call, “I don’t like the way [Trump] communicates… I don’t like the way he calls people names,” a typical butthurt leftist and RINO talking point. “I like Ron,” Riedel added.
Johnson-endorsed Derek Merrin has also had his fair share of embarrassment due to his ties and a photo with former Ohio State Senator Wes Goodman, who was outed as a closeted gay adulterer.

As Wes Goodman built a political career around values including “committed natural marriage,” the 33-year-old Republican was secretly engaging in sexual encounters with men online, via cellphone and, on one significant occasion, in his state office.
The office encounter was the final straw that last week ended his political rise as a self-proclaimed Christian conservative, which had taken Goodman from congressional campaign worker to Capitol Hill aide to a seat in the Ohio House.
It also opened the floodgates on details of Goodman’s secret gay life, which turned out not to have been a secret to several conservative groups, House Republicans or their campaign operation.

It is further rumored that Merrin has hired Axiom Strategies, founded by Ron DeSantis backer Jeff Roe, for campaign consulting.
Alan Jacoby, host of America First LIVE on LFATV and CEO/Founder of The Patriot Cigar Company, published a video of X, where Merrin was confronted by an independent journalist on the potential of having a relationship with Goodman. Jacoby also called Merrin a “Trump & MAGA Hating adulterer.”
Conservative podcast host Joey Mannarino shared similar sentiments, commenting,

Meanwhile, JR Majewski has been endorsed by Trump Department of Defense Chief of Staff/Deputy Director of National Intelligence Kash Patel, Trump Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell, Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL), Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Senator JD Vance (R-OH), Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ), and Rep. Bob Good (R-VA).
Majewski discussed his race and uphill battle against the RINOs in an exclusive interview with The Gateway Pundit earlier this month.
When Merrin, Riedel, and Majewski were asked at a recent candidate forum who they would align with most in Congress, Majewski was the only candidate to say he would align with Trump.
Riedel said “Jim Jordan,” Derek Merrin said “the Constitution,” and Majewski said “DONALD TRUMP.”
“He’s the guy that’s going to bring the country back to what it was before the election was stolen,” Majewski added.

Blizzard agrees that Season 3 of Diablo IV ‘can be improved’
While everybody was getting super excited about Season 3 of Diablo IV after the relative success of Season 2, warning signs were abound that it might not all be smooth sailing. There were initial fears that the Season of the Construct may be delayed after Blizzard didn’t even mention the new season was confirmed for a certain date until a fortnight before. The holiday season had gotten in the way but everybody was happy that there would be no delay to the latest installment in Sanctuary.
And then it launched, and as usual there were complaints that it was boring, and there wasn’t enough to do as the elites smashed through it all and reached level 50 in super quick time. Of course, this certainly doesn’t apply to those playing the game at a more considered pace so you have to take some of the complaining with a pinch of salt, but for once it seems Blizzard actually agrees with it.
Now Blizzard has had a rough day, it has been hit by a large proportion of the layoffs Microsoft has just announced in the last few hours, so it is possible who said the stuff below isn’t even a Blizzard employee anymore.
Diablo IV game director Joe Shely said, “We’re carefully reviewing feedback, especially from folks who have played many hours already, and we’ve agreed on several things that can be improved. More details soon.”
Now how soon those details might arrive in light of Microsoft deciding to “align on a strategy and execution plan with a sustainable cost structure.”, shorthand for separating almost 2000 people from their employment, is anyone’s guess, but it is unlikely to speed things up.
It is important to note that this is only Season 3 of Diablo IV. Diablo 3 has reached the 30-season mark, so at this stage, Blizzard is likely still getting all its balancing on point.

Former national security experts and federal law enforcement officials sent a letter to Congress this month warning of possible terrorist attacks in the United States due to Joe Biden’s open border.
This is a point that has been made by many people, especially since the terror attacks in Israel on October 7th.
There could be terrorist sleeper cells in the U.S. right now made up of people who walked right across our border. How would we even know?

In a chilling letter to congressional leaders dated January 17, former federal law enforcement and national security officials spell out the danger of Biden’s open border that “arises from the nature of the threat itself.”
“Wars and espionage and bombings and riots are sadly familiar delivery systems of instability, intimidation and insecurity,” write the former senior FBI executives. “The country has faced these and more throughout its history and has held together, though not without struggle. The threat we call out today is new and unfamiliar,” the veterans of federal law enforcement explain. “In its modern history the U.S. has never suffered an invasion of the homeland and, yet, one is unfolding now.”
“Military aged men from across the globe, many from countries or regions not friendly to the United States, are landing in waves on our soil by the thousands — not by splashing ashore from a ship or parachuting from a plane by rather by foot across a border that has been accurately advertised around the world as largely unprotected with ready access granted,” the letter states of this new threat…
“It would be difficult to overstate the danger represented by the presence inside our borders of what is comparatively a multi-division army of young single adult males from hostile nations and regions whose background, intent, or allegiance is completely unknown,” the former FBI officials emphasize in their letter.

Barstool Sports and DraftKings prepare game changer partnership
Barstool Sports and DraftKings are on the verge of forming a strategic betting partnership, described as a “game changer” for both companies.
As reported by Gambling News, no official announcement or acknowledgment has been made, but sources close to the deal have suggested it is just a matter of time.
Barstool is a prominent American sports and pop culture blog website founded in 2003 by David Portnoy, who has recently repurchased the company after a messy divorce from Penn Entertainment.
That has paved the way for the new business relationship with DraftKings, a leading US gambling and fantasy sports platform.
The partnership will be a traditional marketing venture, with DraftKings odds displayed extensively across Barstool’s catalog of blog sites and content to drive its engaged reader base toward the sportsbook.
Restrictions and rewardA lucrative multi-year contract has been suggested, which would provide a significant boost to the balance sheet for Portnoy’s company, but the secrecy around the deal can be traced back to recent events.
No agreement can be signed before the Super Bowl, with Barstool prevented from certain activities following its recent separation from Penn Entertainment. The split involved Penn selling Barstool back to Portnoy for a symbolic dollar. Still, an embargo was also placed on Barstool’s reintroducing to the gambling market until the end of the current NFL season and playoffs.
The regulatory landscape wasn’t the most fertile spot for Barstool to flourish, but an amicable end with Penn was confirmed by Portnoy, who is glad to be back in control of his own destiny:
“For the first time in forever, we don’t have to watch what we say, how we talk, what we do. It’s back to the pirate ship. And by the way, I am never going to sell Barstool Sports, ever.”
“I’ll hold it ‘till I die, and when I die, I’ll give it to Dan, to Kevin, whosever’s left standing, if their kids are still alive, they’ll get it, whatever. We will pass it down.”
