New Mexico’s Democrat Governor Pushing Another Outrageous Round of Gun Control Proposals | The Gateway Pundit
Back in September, Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico basically tried to subvert the Second Amendment, by placing a suspension on concealed and open carry, prompting calls for her impeachment.
Now she is pushing a whole new set of gun control proposals.
It doesn’t matter how bad crime gets, Democrats continue to try to disarm law-abiding Americans.

New Mexico Republicans are accusing Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham of undermining the Second Amendment after the Democrat introduced gun control proposals on Friday.
Lujan Grisham announced that a 30-day state legislative session slated to begin Tuesday that will include “the largest and most comprehensive public safety package in our state’s history.”
The gun control proposals include a 14-day background check waiting period on gun purchases, prohibiting guns in polling places and parks, and a minimum age requirement of 21 years on semiautomatic firearm purchases.
The package also includes the Firearm Industry Accountability Act, which would “amend the state statue [sic] to allow gun manufacturers to be held liable for deceptive trade practices.”
“The constitutionality questions are beginning to be very complicated in the arena of gun violence,” Lujan Grisham said at a press conference Friday. “We are going to continue this effort, following what is going on around the country.
Less than six months ago, almost 2,000 people in Israel were slaughtered in their own homes because when Hamas attacked, they were not armed.

Two More Republican Senators Have Now Endorsed Trump for 2024 | The Gateway Pundit
Trump already has the endorsement of plenty of Republican lawmakers. Now he has picked up two more.
Over the last few says, Senator Mike Lee of Utah and Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming have both endorsed Trump for the 2024 election.

The Wyoming lawmaker also attacked Biden over inflation.
Trump thanked him on his social media platform.
“To know John is to both like and respect him, a truly extraordinary man,” Trump said on Truth Social.

BREAKING: Two Lawsuits Filed in Illinois Seeking to Remove Joe Biden from Ballot, Alleges ‘Aid or Comfort to Enemies’ Through Open Border Policies Under 14th Amendment | The Gateway Pundit

In an unprecedented legal challenge, four Republican plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit in the state of Illinois aiming to disqualify President Joe Biden from appearing on the state’s ballot for the upcoming presidential election.
The lawsuit alleges that the President’s immigration and border policies have given “aid or comfort to enemies,” which is a violation of the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment states:
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
Former Congressional Candidate Jack Lombardi II announced this new development through X.
“In Illinois, a lawsuit was filed against Candidate Joe Biden by Terry Newsome and others to remove Biden from the Ballot.
The lawsuit alleges that under the 14th Amendment, Joe Biden has “given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof” through his open border polices.”
Terry Newsome, Illinois Chapter President Parents Involved in Education, wrote, “I along with 3 other Republicans filed to keep Biden off the Illinois ballot for providing aid and comfort to our enemies.”
Additional plaintiffs in the case include Shane Bouvet, Tim Conrad, and Pegge Hubbard.
According to the lawsuit:
Overtly beginning January 20, 2021, Joseph Biden has intentionally declined to enforce laws of the United States, in particular relation to the security of our country’s border. Exhibit A, BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ACTIONS THAT HAVE UNDERMINED BORDER SECURITY AND ENCOURAGED ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, outlines 64 distinct actions taken by, at the direction, or with the approval of Biden. These actions have provided aid or comfort to the enemies of the United States contrary to Sec. 3.
Among the actions listed are not just policy decisions but active, intentional acts that are contrary to the laws of the United States, including but not limited to:
Illegal diversion of funds allocated for border wallFlouting court orders declaring DACA illegalIllegally declared a moratorium on deportationsContrary to law, creating unauthorized alternatives to removalIllegally exempted Unaccompanied Alien Children from Title 42Illegally instituted Central American Minors Program contrary to federal statute governing family based immigration proceduresFollowing the Catch and Release protocol contrary to congressional mandate that illegal aliens “shall be detained”Cancellation of wall construction by Dept. of

The plaintiffs cite the 14th Amendment, which states that no person shall hold office if they have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. They argue that, by maintaining “open border policies,” Biden has violated this provision.
The plaintiffs contend that by not enforcing stricter border controls, the Biden administration has allowed potential adversaries to exploit the situation, posing a significant threat to the safety and wellbeing of American citizens.
As reported by The Gateway Pundit, U.S. intelligence officials have warned of an increasing threat posed by the Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist group, suggesting that it might strike American interests in the Middle East or even within the United States.
One of the officials, who was granted anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence, expressed concern about Hezbollah’s ability to execute an attack in the U.S., stating, ‘Hezbollah could utilize their capabilities to position individuals for a potential attack. It is a matter of concern.’
In October, during an address to the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in San Diego, California, FBI Director Chris Wray issued a dire warning about the rise of violent extremism, both domestic and international.
Wray indicated that there has been a significant uptick in reported threats following the attacks in Israel, cautioning the public to remain vigilant for “lone actors.”
“In this heightened environment, there’s no question we’re seeing an increase in reported threats, and we’ve got to be on the lookout, especially for lone actors who may take inspiration from recent events to commit violence of their own.”

The complaint asserts that Joe Biden’s failure to use an Illinois notary, as required by Illinois election law, makes him ineligible to appear on the Illinois ballot.

SpaceX sends first text messages using satellites
SpaceX has sent its first text messages between two mobile phones using the recently launched Starlink satellites.
As reported by the London Standard, the messages were sent on standard iPhones using the T-Mobile network in the US but the impressive feat was achieved on 8 January, just six days after a Falcon 9 rocket blasted the six satellites into orbit.
Starlink is SpaceX’s satellite-based network that brings internet connectivity to people around the world, particularly those in underserved locations.
Last month, Readwrite confirmed that Elon Musk’s space transport services company had been granted a limited period of 180 days by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to conduct its smartphone tests.
SpaceX had indicated that around 840 satellites equipped with direct-to-cellular payloads would be involved, with around 60 satellites actively serving handsets in the US at any given time under the experiment.
The first test appears to have been passed with flying colors, and as the company announced the texts had been sent and received, an image was released showing a series of green bubbles carrying messages and emojis.

This latest milestone will please SpaceX in its mission to provide a global mobile network service powered by satellites in space, and as stated above, it wants to bring its service to people in remote areas without needing a dedicated device or app.
The Starlink launch on 2 January was SpaceX‘s first mission of the year, but many more are scheduled to follow. It wants to launch 144 orbital missions during 2024, which would surpass the record of 98 it set last year.
Network tests will continue as the company scales to launch 840 satellites, eventually sending a signal to 2000 phones in selected US regions. Still, the rollout of general use in the U.S. for text messaging is expected to happen in late 2024. Voice, data, and smart-home connectivity are anticipated to follow in 2o25.
On the other side of the Atlantic, SpaceX has yet to confirm a UK mobile network to partner with, but if all goes to plan, that should not be a significant obstacle in its bid to enter the British market.

The ROG Phone 8 Pro reveal was a genuine CES 2024 surprise
OPINION: The smartphone market is usually a pretty predictable one. It’s a mature industry that has largely settled into a routine, with most smartphones having a year in the spotlight before being replaced by newer, shinier models.
However, every now and again we’ll get an outlier that takes the rules and rips them up like a kid excitedly unwrapping presents on Christmas Day. In 2024, that outlier is Asus. More specifically, the Asus ROG Phone 8 and Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro which made a surprise debut at CES 2024 earlier this week.
That’s particularly surprising as CES isn’t a show where you’ll often see major flagship smartphone releases. CES is usually more of a teaser expo, taking place in early January every year to provide journalists and industry players with an idea of the kind of tech to expect throughout the year and beyond.
Sure, you’ll get smaller players like TCL and Nokia that tend to reveal US-focused smartphones at the show, but you won’t find bigger brands like Samsung, Google or Apple flaunting the latest smartphone tech. If anything, the Barcelona-based MWC is where you’re more likely to see major phone releases.
With that said, it’s even rarer to see a CES smartphone launch with the product scheduled for release weeks later – but that’s precisely what Asus has done with the ROG Phone 8 collection, which is up for pre-order now ahead of a 31 January release.

That’s because the ROG Phone 8 series’ predecessor, the ROG Phone 7 collection, only debuted in April 2023. That means that the ROG Phone 7 series only got eight months in the limelight before being usurped by newer models – that’s almost unheard of in the current tech landscape.
Harking back to my earlier analogy, that’d be the equivalent of the kid getting presents at Christmas and then getting another bunch of Christmas presents in August. That’s great for the kid (or us, the consumers), but it can’t be financially viable for the parents (in this case, Asus).
That’s especially true as interest in the ROG Phone 7 collection will essentially cease with the release of the newer models.
Could it be a meaningful shift to the ROG Phone’s release schedule to ensure it’s one of the first to get that year’s new flagship chipset? That would make sense for a gaming phone where the best performance possible is essential. Or is this turn of events because of the ROG Phone 7 sales being less than Asus had hoped for?
It’s likely we’ll never know for sure, but it’ll be interesting to see how the ROG Phone release schedule develops with this year’s pivot to utilise CES.

Joe Biden on Friday traveled to Allentown, Pennsylvania to shuffle around for a couple of hours.
After emerging from three days outside of public view, Joe Biden will not be delivering a speech during his visit to Allentown. He will only be visiting a few local businesses.
He got heckled by protestors shouting “loser!” as he walked into a coffee shop.
Biden shocked the public as he needed assistance to walk through a bike shop. He looked completely lost. His eyes were glassy as he was escorted around like a nursing home patient.

At one point Biden lost total control and just had to creep on a young girl.

Belgium’s VAD urges changes to minimum betting age
A Belgian watchdog organization has asked for the age of legal gambling to be raised.
The Flemish Center of expertise on alcohol and other drugs (VAD) has asked Belgium’s government to act on increasing the legal age of all gambling activities to 21.
The partner organization of the Flemish government takes an active approach to prevention and education on topics such as drug and alcohol abuse.
Current minimum age for BelgiansCurrently Belgian gambling law allows online betting and lotteries to accept bets from people of 18 years or older, with physical betting accounts restricted to 21 years of age.
Across Europe the average age for gambling accounts is 18, compared to most United States regulators. Many U.S. states require any would-be gambler to have reached 21 before placing their first online or physical bet.
Duty of care introduced by Belgian big six“Our focus is on creating an environment in which players can participate in games of chance responsibly and safely,” says Tom De Clercq, Chairman of the Belgian Association of Gaming Operators (BAGO).
In November 2023, several Belgian gambling operators signed the Duty of Care Agreement. BAGO comprises the Ardent Group, Betfirst, Golden Palace, Kindred, Napoléon Sports & Casinos, and Star Casino groups.
All made it clear they take political pressure to increase transparency and reform seriously. Damien Thiéry, Secretary General of BAGO, said, “Legal gaming operators want to offer a safe form of entertainment. You simply do not build sustainable economic activity based on addictions.”
The Duty of Care Act has introduced an algorithm-based detection system to identify patterns of ‘risky behavior’ otherwise known by the act as ‘markers of harm.’
Alongside this, the Belgian Gaming Commission will be given access to the prevention policy to ensure that BAGO’s staff are trained and educated correctly. This will ensure that reality checks and intervention by gambling operators are valuable and helpful to those most at risk.
Belgium isn’t the only EU nation taking on gambling reform, as the Italian Government announced sweeping changes to current gambling legislation. Known as the Reorganisation Decree, the legislation was proposed by the Ministry of the Economy and Finance (MEF).

US Kids May Soon Be Banned from Playing Tackle Football by Same State That Encourages Permanent Pediatric Gender Procedures | The Gateway Pundit
A state that allows pre-teens to take dangerous transgender chemical therapies, undergo permanently disfiguring “gender affirming” surgeries, and lets them choose abortions without parental consent is now looking to “safeguard” kids by banning them from playing tackle football.
The extreme, left-wing California state legislature that is dominated by woke Democrats is once again looking to ban football for kids, despite several past failures to pass such legislation.
The youth tackle football ban (Assembly Bill 734) would ban any child under the age of 12 from joining a tackle football team in schools or private leagues.
According to KCRA-TV, this is the third time that Democrat Assemblyman Kevin McCarty of Sacramento has introduced the bill after two failures. Similar bills introduced in Illinois and New York to ban youth football have also failed to pass.
McCarthy claims there are plenty of other sports for kids but his ban will “save lives.” So, his ban should be a no-brainer.
“There are certain things that just aren’t safe for younger people,” McCarty, a Democrat, told KCRA. “Banging your brains around for little kids just isn’t safe.
“It’s a high school sport. It’s going to be an Olympic sport. There is no way you can do a safe sport of 9, 10 11-year-olds,” McCarty insisted of his effort to save kids from themselves.
Opponents of the bill, though, say they have fought off this ban several times and will keep fighting to defeat it.
“We have had to fight it all three times, and I can tell you we will fight it again,” Jay Erhart, commissioner for Sacramento Youth Football, told the media.
Erhart added that his league has already instituted rules for less contact for younger players and mandated better safety equipment.
“With over 9,000 kids last year, we had less than 20 kids that went into return-to-play protocol for concussions,” he explained.
Erhart blasted the bill for eliminating opportunities for young people as well as taking away the many life lessons that the sport teaches them.
“It’s going to just disenfranchise kids,” Erhart insisted. “Those kids in our most needed communities, inner city, our rural communities are going to miss out on a lot, a lot of life lessons as well.”
Football has been a declining sport in California for almost a decade, dropping 18 percent in participation between 2015 and 2022, but seeing a 5 percent jump in 2023. There are about 89,178 youths now playing tackle football in the state, according to the Associated Press.
Parent Ashley Bertram — whose three sons all 14 and younger, play tackle football — blasted the bill, saying, “In the state of California, I get to choose whether my child lives or dies in my womb. But I can’t decide what sport he plays?”
Thus far, AB 734 jumped its first hurdle toward becoming law by earning a 5-2 vote in committee to let the bill go to the assembly for a vote. The bill has until the end of this month to pass or it will not survive this session.
Meanwhile, California seems less concerned about the safety of children targeted by woke schools, Munchausen-besotted parents and greedy doctors and hospitals to put them through dangerous and permanently scarring transgender procedures.
Parents may end up being barred from allowing their kids to choose to play football, but they are already legally barred from having a say in their children’s confused desires to transgender themselves.
In the end, California legislators are not much interested in safeguarding the health of kids, and they are especially not interested in the rights of parents. All they are really interested in is wielding the power to control everyone’s daily lives.

Twitch CEO: “Twitch is not profitable”
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has stated the live-streaming platform is not profitable, just days after news broke on significant job cuts impacting around 500 employees.
The Amazon subsidiary is also pulling out of South Korea as financial pressures continue to mount against the embattled company. Last month, “prohibitively expensive” costs were cited as the reason for the departure from the Korean market, which is said to be ten times higher than operations in other countries.
Clancy has been frank about the situation facing Twitch, but as reported by GGRecon, he warned that things could get worse and offered a rationale on why the staff cuts were necessary.
“I’ll be blunt, we aren’t profitable at this point,” he said.
“So while [Twitch] still has enough resources, [we] won’t be able to do as much as [we] could have done before.”
Important mission ahead
Despite the size and scale of the resources enjoyed by its parent company, that is not enough to guarantee the future of Twitch. It is also not benefitting from its position as a market leader within live streaming, highlighting the challenges Clancy and his peers face to turn around its fortunes.
On losing 35% of the platform’s workforce, the CEO commented:
“In terms of making the decision, we need to ensure Twitch is the right size so we can be here for a long time.”
“We have a very important mission. It’s critical Twitch is not just here today, tomorrow, but 50 years, 100 years from now. Our job is to run Twitch in a manner to ensure its prosperity and that it can be here for the communities you’ve built.”
The stress fractures are showing, and Twitch is under pressure. That is clear, but the streaming giant should still be able to navigate these uncharted waters toward a calmer vista.
Rival platforms like Kick and Rumble will be watching on with interest, seeking to create more than a ripple in the sea.
