movie review: catching fire

Catching FireYesterday, Jerry and I took our oldest granddaughter to see Catching Fire as part of her birthday celebration (delayed a bit).

I listened to the audiobooks of the series about three years ago, and I rated them thus: 5 stars for Hunger Games; 4 stars for Catching Fire; 3 stars for Mockingjay. But even though the individual ratings dwindled with each book, I still can say I loved the series. I found it compelling in many ways. Surprising, really, since I don’t naturally reach for dystopian ficti...

read more books using whispersync

I love audiobooks. It is a great disappointment that not all of my Christian novels are available in that format. But quite a few of them are available.

Audible.com has been go-to source for audiobooks since December of 2000 when I downloaded my first books. It used to be, if I bought an unabridged audiobook on CDs, it would...

how is a website like furniture and hair?

sheep_getting_hair_cut_lg_wht_stSo yesterday I said to my dear husband (DH), “I changed the background on my website. Look at it and tell me if you like this one better than the solid color background I was using before.”

He looked and answered (like any wise DH), “Yeah, that looks good.” Of course, if he was truly wise, he would have stopped there. He didn’t. “Does it really matter? You’ll change it again soon anyway.”

Oh, that man!

“Why do you do that all the time?” he asked.

“Because,” I told him, “it’s less strenuous than r...

movie review: captain phillips

captain phillipsI abandoned my manuscript yesterday afternoon and went with my DH to see the movie, Captain Phillips.

This is the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.
