distance walked in 2013: 1,028 miles

In this morning’s email, I received a graphic summary of the distance I walked in 2013, plus my most and least active days of the week and months of the year. 2013 was my first full year to wear a Fitbit. Considering how very sedentary I am due to living at the computer, I am quite pleased with the results for last year. But I still have plenty of room for improvement.

My goal is to walk a minimum of 1,460 miles in a year. Which means last year I was two-thirds of the way to my goal. I’m hopin...

by Sylvia Bambola

First Place winner for Adult Fiction in the Florida State Association National League of American Pen Women

Forced to flee war-torn Jerusalem in 70 A.D., Rebekah and her husband, Ethan, each take something of value: Rebekah, the cup of the Last Supper; Ethan, a copper scroll detailing the whereabouts of a vast Temple treasure. Ahead, separation and danger face them as each tries to survive. But it’s not only external forces that could keep them apart forever...

writing for the soul conference

If you dream of getting published, if you desire to make your writing stronger, if you need to improve your marketing mojo, you should seriously consider attending the Writing for the Soul Conference in Colorado Springs, February 13-16, 2014. The line up of speakers is truly stellar.

Now I’ll let Jerry Jenkins tell you about the conference in his own words:

A New Kind of Conference for a New Era in Publishing

broadmoorThe publishing world has changed, so it’s time for a new kind of writers conference. I’...

celebrating thirty years!

Robin_1984Thirty years ago this month, I drove through a bad snowstorm on slick roads to attend my very first book signing of my just released first book. I was afraid no one would show up because of the weather, but I needn’t have worried. Thanks to a half-page spread in the local newspaper plus my mother telling everybody she knew (along with a host of total strangers) about me, the bookstore was crammed. Even my first grade teacher came!

The store sold over 150 copies of my book that day, which gave...

an interview regarding A Promise Kept

A Promise KeptPrior to the release of A Promise Kept, I was interviewed regarding the personal story that inspired my novel. Below are the questions and answers that came out of that interview.

~robin

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about A Promise Kept and specifically how your own life inspired this story?

A Promise Kept opens as Allison Kavanagh arrives at the house her aunt Emma bequeathed to her — a log home in the mountains. Her marriage of more than twenty years has ended in divorce because of her hus...

some interesting walking statistics

FitBit Zip2013 was a pretty good year when it came to my fitness goals. Not 100% success, but not 0% or 25% or even 50% either. By increasing my daily steps substantially, I got my cholesterol levels down into the healthiest range it has ever been. That alone was a triumph.

Thanks to the FitBit Zip—which I clip to my bra so I don’t lose it as has happened with both my daughter and granddaughter who lost their trackers that were clipped to their waistbands—and the FitBit app on my iPhone, I can keep an e...

the story behind the story of A Promise Kept

A Promise Kept

Today marks the official release day of A Promise Kept. It seems I’ve been waiting a long, long time for this moment. I hope it’s a book you will read and enjoy and derive hope from. Please, if you do read it, I would be very honored if you would take a moment to review it on Amazon and/or Goodreads and/or your favorite online retailer’s web site.

Below is an article that I wrote for the January issue of Family Fiction magazine. I also sent it out to my newsletter subscribers last week, but I...

ministry or money redux

I am busy writing, writing, writing. Trying to finish another book. Anyway, time available for blogging is about zip. So I thought I would grab an earlier post from my old Write Thinking blog and re-post it here. The post below came from November 2012, and I think it’s worthy of repeating.

cash registerRecently, a friend posed a couple of questions to a group of writers for a workshop she was preparing. The idea sprang from something she’d heard at a conference when the speaker asked (my paraphrase), “If J...
