March Wrap Up

Our corkscrew willow trees behind our house are all green, and the trees that line the park walkway are covered in new buds that will soon be white flowers. Despite the cool, wet weather we are having on this first day of April, spring is definitely here. And if I needed further proof, I would just wait until Thursday when the landscaping crew arrives to mow and trim the lawns of our small subdivision. Nothing like the sound of lawnmowers and weed whackers to say spring and summer.

Christian Fiction Wednesday 03-26-14

This week I have the privilege of featuring a book from another very dear friend. (To tell the truth, one of the greatest blessings that has come from my career as a writer are the friendships it has brought me.) Tamera’s new novel is sure to please. Her Southern mansion books are a history lover’s delight!

What Makes You Give Up on a Book?

BooksAh, the first day of spring. It got here at last. And not far behind it must be some of those wonderful days of summer beach (or hammock or wherever you relax) reads. Right? And there are so many great books to choose from. My bookshelves and my ereader overflow with options. I’ll bet the same can be said for most of you.

This morning, I gave up on a novel that I’d anticipated getting to read for months and months. I was so sad, too. I loved this best-selling author’s last two books. I gave th...

Christian Fiction Wednesday 03-19-14

Today it is my pleasure to feature on Christian Fiction Wednesday a book by a dear friend of mine, Liz Curtis Higgs. What a treasure she has been in my life. And if you haven’t read her books, you should and this would be a great place to start. The book listed below is an ebook novella that was released yesterday, and it will be familiar to those who have read Mad Mary or Unveiling Mary Magdalene.

Happy St. Paddy’s Day 2014

Mary Emeline MaloneWhen the 17th of March rolls around, how can one not wish others a happy St. Paddy’s Day.

I’ve blogged more than once on a 3/17, so more than once I’ve mentioned my great-grandmother Mary Emeline Malone (for whom the heroine in In His Arms was named. More than once I have shared my favorite Irish blessing. More than once I have mentioned my lifelong wish to visit Ireland.

So I don’t have anything new to say on this particular St. Patrick’s Day. Except that I hope you avoid getting pinched and i...

Girls and Horses

Robin Lee HatcherWhat is it about girls and horses? I’m not saying guys don’t love horses too, but it sure seems to me that way more girls are “horse crazy” in their early years, even when they’ve never had the opportunity to be around those beautiful animals.

My mom always told me that my first word was horse. I suspect that was an exaggeration. But not by much. I played with plastic horses in my room or pretended to be a horse outside from as far back as I can remember.
