Fan Art: Novels that Inspire Artists

Recently, I heard a statistic that surprised me. The speaker said that from 5% to 25% of fiction readers draw/paint/sketch pictures of the characters and/or scenes from the books they read and love. Really? So many? That fascinates me.

Curious, I asked on my Facebook Page if there were any fans of my books who illustrate character or scenes from my books. Granted, Facebook showed that post to only 6% of those who follow my Page, but I did hear from one gal—Wendy Lyson—who was kind enough to se...

No “Right” Way to Write a Novel

HourglassI had anew book release in May (The Heart’s Pursuit), and I’ll have another one releasing next week (Four Weddings and a Kiss).

Because of these new releases, for weeksI’ve been answering lots of questions about my books and about writing, both in written form and in radio interviews (live and taped). Since I’m an extravert, I love lots of interaction with people. However, the marketing part of being a novelist is a huge time drain. I have watched it steal hours and hours from just about every...

May Wrap-Up

Five months of 2014 gone already. Holy Frijoles!

May was the month that Jerry and I decided toreally feed the birds. Last year they just never found our single thistle seed sock. So we got serious in both front and back yards. We have three different kinds of seed in five different feeders. We have three suet cages. And we got this block of seed (about the size of a salt lick, like I used to buy to put in the pasture for my horses). The birds found us, and we have taken great pleasure (and lot...

Memorial Day Memories

You know what my main memories from Memorial Day are? Waterskiing. Camping. Picnics. Flowers taken to the cemetery. Mums. The start of summer!! And above all, today I pauseto remember the sacrifices of so many fine Americans who have served to protect our freedoms. Thank you, whoever you are, wherever you are.
