I know many authors of Christian fiction, and I love to help readers find them and their books whenever possible. So be sure to check out my Christian Fiction Wednesday blog posts. You just may find another favorite author or two. And this is a great chance to add some books to that new ereader you got for Christmas!

family fiction feature
When I got up this morning, there was a notice awaiting me on my iPad. The new digital issue of Family Fiction Magazine was ready for download.
Since the “story behind the story” of A Promise Kept is their cover feature for January, I have been eager to receive my copy of this issue. Below is the cover of the magazine and after it are the opening two pages of the article. Didn’t Family Fiction do a lovely job with the color and wedding rings? So appealing. And it goes nicely with the cover of...

reflections on 2013 & my word for 2014
My reflections on the year just past has become an annual end-of-December blog post. I always have fun as I look back and make my lists. How about you?

John 4:13–14 says:
Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
I had a goal to journal about this word thr...

unto us is born a savior
Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was w...

the night before christmas … edited!
My friend Kristin Billerbeck had this graphic of The Night Before Christmas on her blog, and I just had to pass along the laughter to my friends. Writers and editors may get the biggest kick out of all the red and green pen marks (and perhaps a twinge of pain or two), but I think readers will like it too.

my christmas wishes video
I couldn’t let another day pass without wishing all of my blog and social media friends a Merry Christmas. So I threw together a quick video so I could say it “in person.”

awaiting a new release with heart in throat
The release of my 69th book, A Promise Kept, is getting closer and closer. Copies of the printed book have begun their trek across the country to warehouses and bookstores. I received my first copy of the book via UPS from my editor on Tuesday night. Always a thrill to hold a new book in my hands! The ebook special ($4.99) is winding down along with the winding down of this old year.
I need to be writing a ton of words on my late 2014 release, but marketing/publicity efforts for A Promise Kept...

get a delightful collection of novellas for $1.99
If you haven’t had a chance to read A Bride for All Seasons, now is a great time to grab it for your ebook reading device or program for just $1.99.
Margaret Brownley, Debra Clopton, and Mary Connealy join me in sharing four mail order bride stories that will make you smile and laugh and sigh with delight. We had so much fun coming up with this collection of novellas, and we were especially fond of Melvin Hitchcock whose creative editing is responsible for the predicaments our unsuspecting her...

a christmas eve story
Seventy-five to a hundred years ago, my grandmother used to travel around in Idaho, doing dramatic readings. When I say “readings,” I don’t really mean she read from books. She memorized and performed plays and books. I was only twelve when she died, and I don’t remember seeing her do any of her professional performances. But I do remember that she was an amazing storyteller and could keep me entertained for ages.
The video below made me think of Grandma. It’s a beautiful Christmas Eve story t...
